With three major comic-book movies appearing in theaters in 2011: Thor (which releases the same weekend as Free Comic Book Day), Captain America, and the Green Lantern, which figure are you hoping for as a FCBD figure?

I know Thor comes out the same week as FCBD, but I'm hoping that the FCBD figure is a Captain America... preferably a veteran version.

it seems we'll be getting enough Green Lantern characters in DC 75th.

and since Hammer of Thor is sold out, i think it should be either Thor & Cap.

Thor would make sense considering the movie is released the same week.

BUT... the Cap America from HoT is MUCH harder to come by. so maybe it should be Cap.

I would prefer a Captain America for a very simple reason. Captain America is my FAVORITE super hero, but I can't bring myself to play the new one from HOT. The reason is, he doesn't feel like cap to me. He's a run and hide kinda guy that rarely gets into fisticuffs. That's not cap.

We've gotten two Hals that feel right (Crisis and Blackest Night)

We've gotten many Thors that feel right, though your mileage may vary on which that is for you.

Not one Cap we've received quite feels like him. They've captured aspects, but they've never nailed it. Besides, any reason to reuse the Smokey Feet sculpt is a good one!

We need a DC FCBD fig. We've gotten Marvel ones for a while now. But we also have plenty of Hal's out there, perhaps Kilowag, or Karu Sil. Or if it has to be related to a movie next year, then MAYBE a Hal with the suit he'll have from the movie. Or a GL Sinestro. or.... White Lantern Batman??? Also, Ragman would be cool. I want a Ragman figure.

I suppose a new Cap would be my choice, although he's likely my least favourite character of the three, simply because we have versions of both Thor and Hal Jordan that are pretty well perfect, but as far as Cap goes, there hasn't been a Cap that fights like Cap since the Ultimates one. HoT is an awesome figure, sculpt-wise, and while the dial kicks ###, it just doesn't play the way you would expect Cap to fight.
Honestly though... I'd actually prefer someone other than the three choices listed.

Well, the last couple of FCBD figures have been Marvel ones... We really don't need another Thor at all, and since Green Lantern will be opening around the time of Free Comic Book Day, something GL-related makes the most sense.

Agreed on the DC. And if Kilowog is in the movie (and Guy isn't), I agree he's a good choice. The Kilowog sculpt we have rocks, it just needs a decent dial to do it justice.

This was a tough choice - all of these will be high profile characters thanks to the movies so it probably depends on whether Marvel or DC will be the more aggressive marketer. And you know it's got to be one that ties in with an upcoming movie, so it will probably be Thor. If I had my choice I'd like it to be Captain America, preferrably a version good at close combat, for the reasons others have already stated in this poll.

I have to agree with the majority here and out of the three choices I would go with Cap. I am beyond sick of seeing Hal Jordan and think that we got a pretty near perfect version in Crisis. If they were never to make another Hal, I would be happy. The HOT common Thor is also about as accurate as you can get for the character. Maybe a tweak here and there, but overall an excellent representation of Thor and any other version would pale in comparison. Everyone loves to plat HOT Cap because of his cheap point cost and playability, but it is far from comic accurate and a new one is needed. FCBD is an excellent opportunity to give the players exactly what they have been asking for with Cap. Use the same HOT sculpt and put him on a new dial just like they did with War Machine. A playable and accurate Cap with the awesome HOT sculpt that is attainable by everyone would be a home run for Wizkids/NECA. It could be the first FCBD figure that ends up being worth quite a bit on the secondary market.

Nah. The only TRUE choice for the FCBD figure is Xcarabos Lad, of the Earth 7.5 Legionnaires. He's that tentacle-looking guy in "Crisis on at Least a Dozen-and-a-Half Earths" #5, page 20, in the upper right corner, behind what looks to be a Bizarro version of Ambush Bug.

Got me thinking though who is number three in DC these days? Looking at sales for this year I'm thinking the Flash. Green Lantern and Batman being 1 and 2. If not GL or Bats who do you think DC would put forward?

I'm more of a DC fan, but I voted Captain America for a couple of reasons. We definitely don't need another Hal Jordan; we have four versions in Modern Age right now, all of which are good in one way or another. That narrows it down to Thor and Cap. We have one great version of each of them from Hammer of Thor. That brings it down to rarity, and Cap is a rare with a ridiculous price tag. Since I'm not interested in paying that much, I'd like a good version of the 616 Cap for my collection for FCBD.

All of them have something working in their favor.

Thor has the timing thing. The sculpt that they would likely use, from HoT, is hardly a favorite of mine, though.

Green Lantern has the fact that DC is "owed" a FCBD figure going for him. But we just got the starter Lantern, and will have two more Hals, one green and one white, coming in DC75. Still, it didn't stop Iron Man.

Cap has a good sculpt to work with (again, assuming HoT), and is not overexposed. Of course, I think that the players will complain that it isn't another HoT Cap dial.

All things considered, I guess I vote for Cap. I am a bigger fan of the other two, at least recently, but since I did not manage to get a HoT Cap and he is going for too much money for me to spend on a rare, a FCBD Cap would hopefully get that sculpt into my hands.

If I was going to predict which FCBD figure it is going to be, I will have to good with the Green Lantern. Why, well let us look at the last two FCBD figures. With Muntants and Monsters (Marvel Set), we got Ironman on FCBD that went with that set.
With HoT (Marvel Set), we got a War Machine that went with that set.
So we must go by the last set that was made for the previous year for what is going to be the FBCD figure. The last set to be made this year is DC 75th, so the FCBD figure will be most likely DC. So it will be (most likely) Green Lantern. They will probable use the one from the starter set with different stats.

Honestly, I think WK could do well using that if they could get the option. Sure it's not as marquee as the other three, but I think it has potential. Even Ghost Rider and First Class are set for next year...aren't they?

Ok my vote is for a new Capatain America figure.

But to give us something new and different. Here is what I propose.

Basically a figure with two starting positions on the dial. One starting position would be the Cap of WW2, with respective powers to match. Then the second starting position would be a Captain America of sometime in the future.

Yes I know there maybe not enough slots on a single based figure, to give Cap. his true feeling of a respective Cap for the game. But it is worth a try.

Or do I dare say it a Cap on a peanut shaped base, but with two dials. Once again one dial for the WW2 version, the other dial for a newer and latest Cap. And ths sculpt would be a classical Cap charging into battle.

True, "other" could have been an option... but I am really trying to get an idea from the three major movies... which of those characters do we want the most. This could, if it isn't designed yet... give WizKids some idea of what would best promote the game. So in this poll, "other" would be too arbitrary for the purpose of this poll, and based on what movies are releasing in 2011.

I know FCBD is mostly a promotion to get get new players into the game, as well to advertise to players who may have quit the game, and as a way to thank loyal fans as well. With most of us being comic book fans here, this poll gives us an idea of how we are thinking as not only Clix fans, but comic book fans as well.

Hopefully WizKids is paying attention to this poll.

Well, first of all, I'm not sure anyone in this thread has the power, or influence, to make that happen.

In practical terms, though, Free Comic Book Day isn't a Heroclix event, it's a comic book event. A lot of stores which carry comic books don't carry Heroclix (either because they don't want to carry collectibles, or because historically they haven't been able to sell the product), and those stores resent having to buy $1-3 gateway freebees for a product they don't offer (remember, even though Free Comic Book Day is free to you, your friendly local comic store has to pay for the FCBD figures).

Now, imagine you are a comic shop that doesn't carry Heroclix, and are now asked to buy THREE TIMES the amount of figures to give away... figures that are essentially a loss for your store. As it currently stands, every person who comes into a store gets a single free figure, which you paid maybe 2 dollars for out of the goodness of your heart. With three individual figures, every Heroclix enthusiast is going to want all three of these figures. That means every Heroclix player is costing your store three times as much. You could institute a minimum purchase amount (say, make people spend 5 dollars if they want one figure, 10 dollars if they want two, and 15 dollars if they want all three, like some stores have already started doing), but that kind of defeats the purpose of "free" comic book day.

Make them powerful so when a new player comes in they get something that will make them think they have a chance to do well even though they just started, and of course more variety means more interest among newer players.

Well, considering most FCBD Clix are the exact same sculpt as previous ones with different dials (Wolverine, Iron Man, War Machine). I would tend to think Bucky Cap is out as well as Sinestro (as he will be a Green Lantern in the film). Also, most FCBD Clix have been Marvel, I would assume this year's will be Marvel and since Thor's are very easy to come by due to it being a Common in HoT, I think Captain America is the best bet.
