Embrace the HAWTness IV

Rules... stolen from JOH, and modified just a bit...

1) There is a Town. They win by getting rid of the mafia/non-friendly neutrals. Each night, many of them do something (investigate or protect for instance) to try to find the mafia. During the day, they try to vote off the mafia.

2) There is a Mafia, maybe even more than one. They win by getting rid of everybody that isn't in their mafia. Each night, they will remove townies from the game. Each day, they will try to prevent the townies from voting them off.

3) If more than half the players vote for the same player during the day (i.e. Majority), that player is lynched and is removed from the game. You should bold your lynch votes so that I don't miss them or think you are kidding. You can vote for anyone but chances are nothing will happen if you try to lynch someone who isn't playing. You can also vote for a No Lynch, but some mods will remove a random player from the game to ensure that the game doesn't stagnate if no player is voted off. If you feel like leaving a vote with someone, you can say Leave Vote with: Player, but I frown upon it. You cannot "leave with majority".

4) There are unfriendly neutrals that could be trying to kill everybody or recruit their own mafia or maybe something else entirely. They win in odd ways but they hurt the town so the town must eliminate them to win.

5) There are friendly neutrals. They also have strange win conditions but they don't really hurt the town. Sometimes they can win with either the town or the mafia but in general the town doesn't need to get rid of them. Friendly and unfriendly neutrals are hard to tell apart and you'll just have to use your best judgment on whether you want to vote for them or leave them be.

6) Don't do these 3 things: Quote your role pm or the role pm of anybody else, talk about this game outside of this thread even via pm unless you are pming a mason teammate or a mafia teammate, and don't edit your posts. If you do one of these 3 things, you may be modkilled to ensure the game's fairness. I'm a stickler for these. You see how it says 'may'? Assume may = will.

Have fun, y'all. Remember, it's just a game. Tempers may flare, and people may come off like complete a-holes... but they are trying to win, just like you.

Darq Addendum: Just so there's no question of quoting your PM, if for some reason you are roleblocked, jailkept, target jailkept person, someone untargetable, or something similar, you will be informed that "Your action failed".

Darq Addendum II: The Town's win condition is "You win when all threats to the Town are eliminated." The Mafia's win condition is "All threats to the Mafia are eliminated" Neutrals? Who knows.

Darq Addendum III: Do not use "I picked so and so and didn't get them so someone else must've" as an argument. There were NUMEROUS duplicates, and I picked out the characters so the final roster would work, not because you picked first.

Months Ago

Alone, lying on their back, a body rests, unrecognizable. No pulse. No breath. Their surroundings are cold. The silence is deafening.

A moment later... A beat. Eyes pop open on awareness. They rise up with a start, and look around in a panic. How did they get here? The last thing they remember was... Fire.

Sliding off their perch, they shamble towards the exit. As the door opens, sunlight blinds them for a moment, but they quickly adjust. They wait for a minute, then step into the world... a plan already forming.

Surrounded by a throng, lying on their back, a body rests, content. No pulse. No breath. Their surroundings a garish. The silence is soothing.

A moment later... A crash. Eyes pop open in awareness. They rise with menace, and look around, already on the hunt. Who else is here? Ah, yes... The invites. They've begun arriving.

Sliding off their bed, they glide towards the window. As they pull back a curtain, moonlight bathes their naked form. Standing motionless for a time, they stare far into the darkness... The plan was almost ready.

They came from far and wide. Why? It's not really important. Suffice to say they were strangers one moment, and now... Well, still strangers, but growing into a community. A trust was beginning among them... A trust that was about to be shattered.

The woman in the lab coat was running... But she was always running, really. She had to save them... The bloodbath was coming, and none of them had any inkling. As she rounded a corner on a deserted street, she came face to face with a familiar face.

"You! But..."

Before another word could be uttered, a gun exploded in the night, puncturing her heart, killing her instantly. "Sorry Tru... You failed, this time."

As her attacker disappeared into the night, an older gentleman was beckoned by the gunshot to investigate. As he saw the crumpled body on the ground, his eyes narrowed in contemplation. "Hmph. Now isn't that interesting. Well... I do appreciate a challenge."

The sign-ups thread said Left IV Dead and the opening write-up has people reanimating. I didn't really get a zombie vibe though, and there aren't many zombie TV shows so thoughts? Could the mafia be characters who died in the previous 3 games?

opening writeup looks like zombies, but it could definately be dead characters from old games. especially because when we sent our 5 choices we had a list of dead characters from which we COULD choose, which leads me to believe there were dead characters we COULDNT choose for a reason. ;)

My character has died. More than that, I'm not prepared to say at this time. However, I will say that Doc's assumption aims suspicion towards a specific group of people, with little reason to do so other than to put suspicion elsewhere. Second Lives could mean anything, and yet he chose to try to get us to focus on characters who died in previous games. This is not an assumption I would have made.

At worst, we lynch a neutral with a bad attitude. Something I am very ok with.

The trench-coated rogue entered a lab, determined to find some goodies. Ahead of him, he saw an amazing sight, and approached, in awe. "Oh, wow, wow, wow. Now how am I gonna get this outta here?" As he reached out to touch it, an arm popped out to him in a flash, and gripped him in an iron grasp.

Lifting the thief into the air, the body was thrown across the room, his neck breaking immediately.

As the redhead spun slowly, she knew this was it. Amazingly, another person jumped between them suddenly, and before she could react, the assassin pounced on her and ripped out her eyes, prying and tearing into her. In moments, she was dead.

"Wow. Impressive. Let's go, it's time for your treatment."

As she ran form her pursuer, she yelped in pain as her she felt a bullet pierce her shoulder. She kept running, and amazingly escaped. I believe it would be the former. While the treatment could easily refer to Echo, who was in the previous game, it could refer to any of the Dollhouse inhabitants. They all were granted a 'second' life.

According to Wiki it sounds like Tess has been cloned or at least healed from some kind of debilitating skin condition.

Well normal, unless you have a win condition that involves being lynched, I'll have to say I believe you. That said, anyone got anything to go on, because I don't. Still trying to puzzle out second life, but I think it's going to be too vague to truly figure out. As a Mod, Darq can stretch things how he sees fit without any prior protest. We may protest afterward, but by then it's way too late.
