hi, I recently got an infraction, I am not arguing that it was wrongfully given, I did something against the sites policy and deserved one, I was however wondering what it is excactly that they are and what the consiquences are of getting them

if you get too many, you could be banned. some are just slaps on the wrist though.

It's important to know the difference between warnings and infractions though. Infractions are worth a certain amount of points (which expire after a certain amount of time), and if you get too many points you are banned until some expire.
Warnings are not worth any points at all, so they are basically slaps on the wrist. That's what the OP got.

Good to know. All I know is I got Infractions from linking a "picture of Chase Harley/Ivy" to a Rick Roll. The thread was active for all of 30 seconds... good times.

In my defense, it was after the guy (can't remember atm) announced that he had lied about pulling one and that he made up the dial.

Infractions mean you get interesting colors that only you can see added beneath your avatar when you post. It's almost like taking a forum psychedelic.

Got some. Or maybe they're just flashbacks from 2008. I'm not sure...

the people who said worse may also have infractions, you just wouldn't see them

There's also the fact that the moderators are not omniscient. A lot depends on whether someone decides to hit the little "report" button, so maybe it comes down to how thin-skinned the person you insulted was. : - )

I've yet to acquire warning points or infractions, but I keep expecting to see them. Maybe I can get some right now...

Komixfrk75, were you dropped on your head as a child?

I was born with an indentation in my head that made people think I was dropped on my head! True story!

I was born with a somewhat large head that inspires folk to pity my poor mother. :nervous:

Hmm, both born with anomalies, but mine caused people to doubt my mother, while yours caused them to feel bad for her... We are opposites! WE MUST BE ARCH ENEMIES! Which one of us is the evil twin?

You can't stop me, you can only hope to contain me.:devious:

When I was an infant, my father once used me to break his fall down a flight of stairs. Partially true story!

Well, I have a manly stubble, so I must be the handsome renegade cop, too tough to follow the rules so I make up my own as I go along and you can be the evil alternate universe double.

*waits for my brother to show up and laugh at the "handsome" part*

I have to grow my beard out for 2 weeks before it looks like manly stubble (and at that point it looks like sad not-so-manly patchiness), so do I win?
