I personally think to many people are judging this fig soley on it's attack value. I sort of included some of the next sentences in another thread but felt this thread derserved a seperate discission.

First off we have not seen his veteran stats, if that fig bust out with a 10 attack he will be one of the best figs in the game period. As it stands his expereince fig is extremly powerful.

Here are some startegies:
With a Mandroid unit in tow (which incidentally Tony created) he has the possibility of dropping 6 clixs on you...c'mon fellas that is dangerous. Even if he moves , he is a flying mobile tank with a running shot that includes a 10 movement, 10 range, dropping 4 clixs (with mandroid armor tow). Add a 17 Inv and that is a flying tank fellas.Trust me he will be avoided in the first few turns of the game when his 9 attack needs just an 8 rolled (same chances as a 7 or a 9)to hit almost ALL the figs in the game. They will be running and hiding before he takes any damage.

Let's talk about the intangibles?

Outwit, regeneration, the charge when you MIGHT need to knock out an already damaged figure to win the game. He is opportunity incarnate. Study the figure and think out of the box a bit....do I dare say it??? Just like TONY STARK would.

I think that if the game designers would of given him a 10,11 or 12 attack then the fig would be out of balance. Tony does do many unpredictable things, he constanly pulls out gadgets. I really think that the spirit of the character was captured perfectly. I should know as I own almost every single iron man comic ever produced. Yes he's expensive, but he's cool as ####.

If what your worried about is tournament play then bring in 5 veteran fire lords. As it stands I am looking formward to playing with this fig and enjoying the #### out of it.

exactly. My joy of this set is that all 3 Iron man related characters are amazing! Iron man is a hard to kill tank. Mandarin will see a lot of play because he rocks! & CD is a Firelord killing machine. Plus all 3 look amazing!!! Go JonL & go Ironman44

While I understand your enthusiasm for the figure, you misunderstand the problem with the attack value. It's not that it's a nine, it's the lack of consistency on the dial. The 9 to 8 to 7 is a tough sell for a figure at 161 points. Take a look at Human Torch - E who has the same AV problem. Do you see many people raving about how great a figure he is?

The big issue is that you can't push him or you take him off his best click, his first one (which is awsome). His second isn't bad but past that forget it, he's done. Also, he is really vulnerable to incapacitate, which would be my weapon of choice if I knew I were playing against him.

I was really looking forward to this figure, mainly because I have all of the Avengers figures (except the Thor-V, too expensive) and really wanted an Iron Man. I will get him and try real hard to find ways to use him effectively, as you suggest. But as it stands there are better, more consistent Avengers to use, that cost less.

He is good, and I will use him in friendly play but I doubt he will get much competation play. But you outwit Invul and Firelord (or CD) take a pot shot at him and BAM 6 6 14 2. I still want to see the Vet, he could be the real redeemer. Until that I can tell you Vet Mandarin will be a mainstay on many of my teams. Beats Firelord's range by 4 only needs a 7 to hit him, with outwit and MC. He is a solid piece.

Agent_X-

It's sort of what I said. I think he "rules" because he will be fun to play and I think, unlike other figs, his comic book demeanor was captured perfectly. Yes,he can target a half a dozen missles a mile away and blow them to bits thus deserved a higher attack value or at the very least a more consistent attack dial however the parts of his character that pull out the gadgets (outwit) and tweaks his armor setting in the middle of combat (his yo, yo dial and his sudden regeneration) and switches combat styles (sometimes he bruises up close sometimes he repulsors) really capture what Iron Man is all about.

As far as the veteran fig is concerned,

I just e-mailed a guy that has it up on Ebay maybe he will be nice enough to respond. I need him to respond so I can buy the fig anyway.

Someone should have posted his stats already. If you look at the difference between the rookie ironman and experienced verison there are a lot of differences. It looks like the veteran Ironman will have close to 30 points more for the fig at 187 or 189.

If his veteran version has a 10 attack, then all my figs will be screwed :( That guy does a busload of damage, kinda like Firelord (Plus the invulnerability). I don't know why people don't like him. I guess that they don't roll as lucky as I do :)

Well now that his Veteran version is saying hello with a 10 attack and 12 movement with running shot, he's defintely ruling!
One of the best first clixs in the game period!

Wow. One whole click. That's awsome. So... how do you propose to keep him on that click? Has outwit been banned? There are special rules for Iron Man so that he doesn't take push damage? He's immune to incapaciate, like the Sentinel? He has automatic stealth when he is in range of a 17+ defense?

I guess I need to buy an Xplosion booster to catch up on the rules.

Why is Dr Doom considered one of the greastest figs in the game at 11 points higher? because of his better attack value? That is what you have basically grounded the game to . Pounding.

Ironman can bust out a 12 move, with a Running shot (attach a cheap mandroid unit and you can do 6 clixs standing still or 4 running).

Anyone who uses one dimensional play will obviously have a negative opinion of the fig. I suppose you wanted 12, 11, 11, 10 on his attack dial making him the GREATEST FIG in the entire heroclix universe.

C'mon undersatand what the fig can do. understand the opportunites it presents later on in the game. it's unpredictability is one of it's greatest strengths. It's outwit , his regenaration. the fig has so many more positives if you play the game on a tactical level than simply his attack rating.

batman is a pretty good fig the last time I chekced and his attack rating is not much better, ironman is a flying tank we have not even discussed his defensive capabilities.......

As you can see, I'm an Iron Man fan. I agree with all of you that's posted in the thread. I'm personally waiting for the chance to play him in a game. For a figure like Iron Man, with so many variables, I just have to try him out in a game. There have been many figures which I thought were awesome, but then in games suck (IMO Thanos), and some I thought sucked, but redeemed themselves (i.e. Controller). Iron Man has a lot of potential, but the question is will he be able to milk it.
