According to Avi Arad they plan and hope to cast the FF movie in May and start shooting in July for a 2004 release. Who would you cast as the Fantastic Four, here are my picks

Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic - George Clooney
Sue Storm/Invisible Woman - Ashley Judd or Trish Stratus
Ben Grimm/Thing - Patrick Warburton
Johnny Storm/Human Torch - Seann William Scott

Hey man, that'd make a dang good movie!!! Are they really making one?

I think there's only one problem with someone making a Fan4 film...

Vanilla.

As we have witnessed, when comic book heroes hit the big screen, everything gets darker than we find in our fav rag mags.

Green Goblin dies in a bloody vivisection...

Daredevil cracks Fisk's knees open (not mentioning the obvious)...

A tormented Logan wakes up and skewers a young Rogue...

...Fan4 is, above all, the Vanilla aspect of the Marvel world. Four heroes fighting side by side...no real animosity...a true family in every sense of the word.

For this to be the hit necessary to keep both fans and filmgoers interested it would have to be darkened up...and frankly I doubt the team would translate as a result.

But here's to hoping...

"Green Goblin dies in a bloody vivisection" - Which happened in the comics, so its not really any darker. The climax of the Spider-Man movie was almost completely lifted from the "Death of Gwen Stacy" story.

"Daredevil cracks Fisk's knees open" - Not really much darker then Daredevil is always is.

"A tormented Logan wakes up and skewers a young Rogue" - First this was filmed as an accident so it doesn't really come off as "dark" or violent. And Wolverine really isn't a "bight and cheerful" character in the books.

I think they could keep the FF pretty clean and light and I think it would work just fine. Remember they would also have Dr. Doom for the "dark and gritty" element of the movie.

Unfortunatly, the perfect choice to play Reed Richards had been dead for a while: Fred MacMurray (Double Indemnity, The Apartment, and he was the dad on "My Three Sons"). He looks exactly like Reed.

If they cast it right, though, this could be an alright picture. Marvel's recent comicbook movies are like Citizen Kane compared to every other comicbook movie (Except Superman 1 and 2, of course).

I remember a post about this around a month back, and my initial reaction to it is just the same as before:

Trish Stratus and George Clooney smoochin' on the big screen just seems horribly wrong.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see her in one of those form-fitting FF unifroms ( ), I just don't think she'd be best suited for the role. Besides which, I'd always imagined her getting cast for White Queen if anything ( double  ).

The rest sounds okay. Sean William Scott as Human Torch would definitely be interesting.

FF a family (disfunctional) at best if you consider how many times Johnny Storm quit cuz he got in a fight with the orange one.

Also Patrick Warburton is a great actor but I don't see him pulling off the angry at the world.

Furthermore, Clooney doesn't have 1/10th the Reed Richard IQ. How about Russell Crowe or Jeremy Irons

Also I hope they don't go with the Moleman version. I would far rather see Dr. Doom or Subby.

Haven't you guys seen the 1991 movie of f4?
you have to get it bootleg, like off of kazaa.m
the screens like twice as dark as it should be and it is all cheesy ([alicia]"Ben Grimm! I LOOOVVE YOOOUU![as she is about to be killed by doom]")

"Also Patrick Warburton is a great actor but I don't see him pulling off the angry at the world" - I think he could. It would be more understated, but I think he would do a great job in the role. Also he only has to do the voice for Thing and he has a the look and personality to play Ben.

"Furthermore, Clooney doesn't have 1/10th the Reed Richard IQ. How about Russell Crowe or Jeremy Irons" - Since when does an actor need to be smart to play smart? Beside's Clooney handled the medical dialog in ER fine for years. I hate Russell Crowe, he'd suck as Mr. Fantastic (Reed isn't fat) and Irons would be good as a Doctor Doom but not Richards, he just seems evil, I don't think he'd do very well in the good guy role.

Could points about actors...and your right Russell Crowe is too fat. I'm sure they could find somebody adequate. I imagine a younger dark-haired Peter O' Toole without the british accent.

Also Jeremy Irons, IMO, is the most versatille actor:

Uber-Morlok [Bad Guy] - Time Machine
Aramis [Good Guy] - Man in the Iron Mask
Simon Peter [Bad Guy] - Die Hard 3
Scar [Bad Guy] - The Lion King
Gabriel [Good Guy] - The Mission

Granted Die Hard 3 was aweful, but still he is an awesome actor with range.

Also I could see Michael Madsen doing Ben Grimm

Another choice for Reed Richards - Sam Sheppard

After witnessing Dungeons and Dragons, I think Jeremy Irons should have his actor card revoked.

Here's my picks.
Reed: Bill Pulman
Sue: Sharon Stone
Johnny: Christopher Masterson
Ben: CGI (Bruce Willis to voice)
Doom: ARNOLD SHWARTZENEGGER! Just think of the one liners! "YOO AHH... DOOOMED!"

Jeremy Irons --- whew, I'm glad somebody said it!!!
After a stunning and chilling performance as Claus VonBuolo - he has become a bad cliche - Begining with the voice over in the Lion King - that totally tried to capitalize on that famous line "You have no idea". And then that utterly horrible waste of space on the film shelves - Dungeons and Dragons! He seems to have taken some time off to study at The William Shatner School of Overacting. *Shudder*

Bill Pulman was good in Space Balls (whatever of the movie that didn't collapse under its own weight of trying to be funny), and While You Were Sleeping, beyond that - Casper was a waste, and Independance Day fell apart even before Pulman tried in vain to act presidential.

Sharon Stone - 10 or 15 years ago I would have said yes.

Ben should be voiced by someone with the right accent - which means anyone whoes ever played a tough guy in the Mob.

I want to change my cast for the movie

Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic - Alec Newman (Dune Mini-series)
Sue Storm/Invisible Woman - Trish Stratus
Ben Grimm/Thing - Patrick Warburton
Johnny Storm/Human Torch - Seann William Scott
Dr. Doom - Jeremy Irons

heres a picture of Alec Newman

Mr,Fantastic: Pierce Brosnan (don't start about the accent, he has the right demeanor for the role.)

Invisible Woman: Jeri Ryan

Human Torch: Brad Pitt

Thing: The Rock (I hate wrestling, but he is the heir to Arnie and Stallone. He does rock.)

Didn't any of you see the Roger Corman version? Rebecca Staab was a PERFECT Sue Storm. I have a hard time seeing
anyone else in the role, but Charlize Theron is probably a good choice.

BTW, it looks like the Powers That Be at Fox are looking to make the FF movie more comedic, which makes me think that George Clooney will be Richards. I don't agree with the decision, but that's what I think will happen.

My cast would be:

Mr. Fantastic: Guy Pierce
Invisible Girl: Heather Graham
Human Torch: Christopher Masterson (Francis on TV's "Malcom In the Middle")
The Thing: Tom Sizemore

I've read, in one of Avi Arad's interviews, that this would be a really expensive movie to make. Spiderman cost something like $120 million + for special fx on 40% of the whole movie.

The FF are like 90% special FX, even in their secret Identities they need special FX. So it might cost about $200 million. Yikes!

Hope they find a cheaper way to do those FX. I really want it made!

Actually comedic or just lighter in tone like say Superman's I and II. Lord don't say III. Of course I didn't think the last two Bat flicks were that bad, just trying to squeeze too many villains into each one. I have to say though, with both Blade's and now X-2, the bar has been raised to incredible heights. Oh, thought Daredevil was a thousand times better than Spider-Man.

I'm probably gonna get hit for this but...

If they're gonna do the Thing correctly, with facial expression and all, sorry... he's gotta be CGI. BUT! Ving Rhaymes as the voice.

Judge: CGNH

I actually think George Clooney would be a great Reed. Either he or Tim Robbins (Tall drink of water).

Sue Storm - Uma Thurman
Johnny Storm - Scott Caan
Ben Grimm - I like Briel's suggestion of THE ROCK, but it should be somebody with a really good Brooklyn accent. Would Michael Madsen work?

Briel
05/15/2003, 15:09
And come on people. I'm not even her biggest fan, but no one but Jeri Ryan could be Invisible Woman. Well alright, Sharon Stone, but the age between Reed and Sue has to be right.

Briel
05/15/2003, 15:14
I'm telling you guys. The facial expressions, the dry humor, and incredible genious while a confused father. Pierce Brosnan is Reed Richards.

ThePope
05/15/2003, 15:36
Sharon Stone - way too old.
Jeri Ryan - Even she's pushing it.

Sue Storm needs to be mid 20's to mid 30's.

Pierce Brosnan - he might be a better Victor Von Doom than a Reed Richards.

Russel Jhonson from Would be a good Reed.

Briel
05/15/2003, 15:41
Well, how about Brittany Murphy? I just think Trish Stratus is a bad joke. Hot chick yes, but a make or break film is no place for an untested actress, or actor.

Briel
05/15/2003, 15:42
Who is Russel Johnson? Where would I see him?

05/15/2003, 15:46
As long as Thing is totally CGI why not have "Big #####" from Sopranos voice him.

Briel
05/15/2003, 15:50
By the way. By untested, I don't mean thay have to be big names. I just want to see a resume anywhere, even just in theater, other than proffesional wesling. I wouldn't have nominated The Rock if I hadn't been impressed by his other films and SNL comedy.

Briel
05/15/2003, 16:01
Concerning Jeri Ryan's age. I tend to think of where The 4 are now than at the time of their origin. I think the origin should be told briefly in flashbacks, and then get on with a well developed story. I would show the flight and the appearance of their powers along with the initial infight to set up the relationships. I wouldn't bother with the Moleman, better to get on with Doom, or an altered version of Galactus.

Reed- Matt LeBlanc
Sue- Courtney Love

Doom- Richard Simmons

I am skeptical of any movie that Chris Columbus has a hand in (he is billed as producer as well as doing the story, with Michael France doing the screenplay).
