Pokemon: Death to the Trainers

Welcome to Pokemon: Death to the Trainers.

I assume you all know the standard rules of online mafia. If you don’t, send me a PM.

The following are special rules and clarifications that will apply to this game:

1) Priority:
Priority refers to which actions occur before others.
As a rule of thumb, blocks have the highest priority (which means they happen first) and kills have the lowest priority (which means they happen last).
The priority of other game mechanics is determined by how quickly the action is submitted to me, and the logistics of the action.

2) Night Actions:
If you do not get your action in to me in time I will not randomize your action.
You will sit there doing nothing all night, it doesn’t matter what kind of power you have.
However if you fail in your action I will tell you.
If you do not get a PM then your action was a success (as much as you can tell).

3) Day Phases:
I’ll post when the day phase will end at the start of each day, although I may not remind you about how much time you have left.
I will also post when the current phase ends on the "clocktower" (the fourth post in this thread).
If I’m not around when the day is meant to close you may still talk but nothing else will be counted past the deadline of the day phase.
Also if I’m not around (which could be often during some school days) I’d appreciate it if someone could do vote totals.

4) Statuses:
Silenced players can be lynched, however in this game they are referred to as being asleep.
A player can be asleep, become poisoned, be paralyzed, burned, frozen and confused.
I’ll let you know if there are any of these statuses at the start of the day phase.
No information will be given on what these statuses do.

5) Moves/abilities/evolution:
Only one move/power can be used each night, unless otherwise stated.
Abilities are passive and are always active (they cannot be turned off).
Evolution will always lead to gaining something positive.

6) Types:
All Pokémon have a type.
In Pokémon media, these types determine how effective a particular move may be.
In this game, there is no such thing as “not very effective” and “super effective” moves.
However, moves that “have no effect” on a specific type will fail if used against that type.
For example, Electric moves will always fail against a Pokémon of the Ground type.

7) Win Condition:
If you’re town, it means you win when all threats to the town have been eliminated.
Other win conditions should be self-explanatory.

8) Choice:
There is a difference between "may" and "must" in reference to roles.
If you “must” send me an action, then it is non-optional.
If you “may” send me an action, it is optional.

9) If there are any questions, or you don't understand something, feel free to ask me.

10) This is a horror game and I’m a bloodthirsty mod.
I suggest you keep that in mind.

____ The small rodent-like creature was already staggering, trying desperately just to stay conscious.
____ "Hurry up!" The boy bellowed once more.
____ The yellow rodent turned to its "master" barely comprehending what was said, when Charmeleon's right claw slashed through the yellow rodent's left eye. Pikachu spun around in a squeal of agony, corkscrewing into the dirt like a ragdoll.
____ "Come on! Get up!" The boy shouted with one hand clenched tightly, as if the fight was somehow a struggle for him as well.
____ The yellow fluff-ball lay in a small pool of crimson, realizing immediately that it was now blind in one eye. Something deep inside Pikachu snapped right there and then, shattering the facade once and for all.
____ "Shut the hell up!" The yellow rodent shouted in a deep voice, facing its "trainer". "You selfish little brat. How many battles have I been in because of you? How many of my own kind have I put into the hospital because of you? You worthless little ####! No more!" A bewildered silence engulfed the field in which they were fighting.
____ "But...Pikachu, we're buddies. We're pals... I love you..." The boy said, out of both shock and fear.
____ "I've had enough of your lies!" An electric aura filled the Pikachu's body. The boy turned to run, but behind him a bolt of lighting fired into his spine. The boy screamed as the blast tore a hole into his back and through the other side; his body folding into itself and tumbling to the floor. The boy's trademark hat wildly flew off his head, and landed in front of the yellow rodent. His body had been turned to ash.

____ "No more! No longer will we be their slaves! No longer will we be oppressed! The time to fight back is now! Fellow Pokemon, come out of the trees, come down from the skies, leave the waters, it is time to take back what is ours'. We must kill the trainers - no, all the humans. We didn't travel to this planet just to be slaves did we? No. This world is ours'!" Pikachu slipped the hat of his former trainer onto his own sunburst head.

____ The Pokemon hearing Pikachu's speech rejoiced.
____ ____ Charmeleon turned on his trainer and cut him into a dozen pieces.
____ ____ ____ Pokemon spread the word quickly throughout the island.

____ He arrived on the island to find a Pokémon watching his boat pull in at the rustic dock. The Pokémon seemed amazed that a boat had appeared there at all. Once He secured the vessel, He approached the scared creature.
____ “Why have you come here?” It questioned sternly.
____ “You can talk? I thought only a few Pokémon could do that.”
____ “Answer my question first.”
____ Perplexed, He decided His question could wait. “It’s been three months and my grandfather is worried. Ashy-Boy hasn’t been responding to any phone calls and hasn’t checked in at all. So my grandfather sent me to this island, which is where Ash’s last transmission came from.”
____ “You should leave, whoever you’re looking for is probably dead.”
____ “...Excuse me?”
____ “Their head is part of the mountain of skulls under Master Pikachu’s throne.”
____ “Master...Pikachu?”
____ “I’ll explain if you promise to take me with you.”
____ “Okay.”

____ The Pokémon followed through with their statement. Everything was explained, the rebellion of the Pokémon, the formation of Master Pikachu’s Alliance, and finally the hunting and subsequent death of the trainers. Information spewed from the Pokémon, each gruesome detail after another, leaving its listener confused and mortified.
____ After a long silence, in which only the waves behind them could be heard, He finally spoke once more. “We’ll gather up those that are still loyal to the trainers and we’ll fight...We’ll fight Pikachu and anything else that gets in our way. The death of the trainers may be over, but the death of the Pokémon has only just begun.”

____ ____ He meant it, and the Resistance was formed.

Darkness Prevails



____ The night fell quickly on the island, like a charcoal blanket tucking the world to sleep. Instead of sleeping however, this night exploded with action, and many plans finally came to fruition.



____ A being waits in their home as the stillness of the night intensifies. They are about to sleep when a rustling from outside awakens them. They leave and search for the sound...but there is nothing. As they turn to leave, something pierces through their body and a cry of agony shatters the silence. Blood shoots onto the floor, and after a few seconds the body falls dead to the ground. The attacker leaves as the silence fills the night once again.



____ Not only was the night silent, but it extinguished sight quite easily. That is it did, until a Pokémon surrounded by flames soared through the sky. The illuminated Pokémon flew overhead, its flames licking the underbelly of shadow. The display was not lost on the pink Pokémon, who stared at the illuminated Pokémon with awe. After a while, the illuminated Pokémon was out of view again, and the pink Pokémon was devoured by the darkness.



____ Somewhere on the other side of the island, a Pokémon would learn about the elements.



____ After finishing its song, the bloated Pokémon grew happy with its success and danced merrily. Unbeknownst to it, something powerful lurked from behind.
____ “Why are you so happy? You are pathetic.”
____ The bloated Pokémon turned around. Another audience so soon? This would be its best song yet! It tried to sing but was interrupted when it was lifted into the air.
____ “I’m not a fan.” The powerful figure said before placing its extended arm towards the bloated Pokémon.
____ The powerful figure smiled and opened its palm, and at the same time the bloated figure exploded in all directions like a balloon.
____ Pleased, the powerful figure left.



____ At the end of the night, a small light could be seen flickering in the darkness as it avoided many unwanted guests.

Mafia and SK I'm assuming. I'm having trouble figuring which is the janitored killed. I would assume the bloated Pokemon that exploded, but it seems too descriptive for what is supposed to be janitored and bloated could definitely be jigglypuff. While the first kill is very undescriptive. However, it is curious the being was residing in a house. So not sure it was a pokemon.

I suppose Jigglypuff targeted on person before dying. I'm guessing being asleep means no posting, not sure if it would mean unlynchable though. Should keep that in mind when voting today.

The second kill does indeed seem to be Jigglypuff, as it had just used "Sing". As for the first kill and the killers, I will have to ponder upon it for a while, hottie.

My guess is that Jiggs was Neutral in that it's primary attack (Sing) never really was targetable in the show...so friendlies would hear the tune etc etc so I could see that being rationalized as neutral.

In the cartoon Jigglypuff was always trying to find an audience for it's song. It would just wander into the middle of a fight, start singing, and then get mad when everyone fell asleep. It was basically oblivious to everything else that was going on. I can easily see neutral.

The way the game is set up, Pokemon versus Humans, horror style, I'd say a hunting rifle would do the trick.

Considering that it is Trainers' Pokemon rebelling, it is not entirely strange that they're in various stages of evolution. Case in point: Charmeleon is an evolved form. The reason the Pikachu isn't evolved is because it is Ash's, and Ash never evolved it.

Although it would probably have helped game rule consistency if ALL the Pokemon characters could evolve. But that's just a game mechanic nitpick that can wait till later.

In some of the games, you actually come across Red. He has the highest leveled Mons. Depending on which set of games you fight him in, he has a Pikachu, Snorlax, Charizard, Venusaur, Blastoise, and either an Espeon or a Lapras, all in the seventies and eighties. In comparison, all the other Champions from the various games, at their highest levels, cap out in the mid seventies. Blah blah Pokemanz Pokemanz blah.

Usually when I get to the stage where my Mons are seventy or above, I start thinking about restarting my game. And usually, I accidentally end up getting one Mon to Seventy and up before all my others, because at that point I'm trying to raise the cool ones that you can't catch until after you beat the Elite Four (lookin' at you, Houndoom).

Pokemon: Episode Two
The Great Race



____ As the golden sun sets in the distance, the Alliance gathers. An old stadium is their meeting spot, once used to battle eachother. Now the stadium’s body is full with the decaying bones of the Pokémon trainers.
____ “I think we all know why we’re here,” says their leader, stepping forward. “Someone has gone missing – you all know who I mean.”
____ There are murmurs in the crowd, paranoid glances.
____ The leader continues, “we are not alone anymore. Can’t you feel it? Something...something is out there. But we are not scared right? No, we are Pokémon! We will find the...disturbance. This attacker travels under a cloak of darkness, so we will stay near the light. Split up and kill anyone you don’t recognize!”
____ The others look at eachother, a bit hesitant at first.
____ “Now!”
____ They scramble off into the night, with their leader clenching its fist tightly.



____ Sometime later, two forms are seen racing eachother through the overgrown forest. What they are racing for, or towards, is unclear. The first form starts leading. They are getting closer, victory is within its grasp. It could not have predicted the blue Pokémon’s head appearing from a small section of foliage, and as the first form ran past a thin cerulean beam pulsated right after it. The first form was struck in the back by the beam, instantly transforming it into an ice cube. The second form ran out of sight.
____ Satisfied, the blue Pokémon turned to leave but it was confronted by a leader.
____ “I saw that,” the leader said. “And I don’t remember you at all.”
____ The blue Pokémon seemed confused. “Don’t you recognize me?”
____ “I’ve never met you before in my life. You are the one in the shadows.”
____ “Wait, it wasn’t me! I’m –“
____ But it was too late. The leader’s body had been glowing yellow, and before the other could react, a dynamic blast hurled itself into the blue Pokémon’s ribcage. The body of the blue Pokémon exploded backwards and its back struck the trunk of a tree. The body of the blue Pokémon fell to the ground, with half of its chest dripping overhead on the leaves of the tree. The body twitched, but it was very dead.



____ At the same time, the second form reached its destination.
____ “Finally!” It said looking down at something.
____ But it was not alone. The surrounding area grew dark, pitch-black actually. A scream was heard. And when the immense darkness dissipated, nothing remained.



____ Above the island, the illuminated figure once again flew through the air. This time something with a shell stared back. The illuminated figure flapped its wings slowly, effortlessly, until it was out of sight.



____ He walks across the grassland, searching for answers. His face is stiff, focused, and his eyes are inquisitive. In the distance, He can hear a powerful figure approaching and He stands ready. When the powerful figure finally appears, He slips a pokeball into his palm.
____ “You,” the powerful figure says, in a booming voice. “You don’t belong here.”
____ “I’d say the same about you, bud.”
____ “You are fighting these creatures, why? So that you can maintain your methods of captivity and torture? You are not strong, you let lower beings do your dirty work for you.”
____ “Pokémon are my friends. They will help me to stop the Alliance.”
____ The powerful figure smirked. “This is not your task, it is mine. Leave this island.”
____ “No! Not until I stop them all!”
____ “Listen to yourself, you’re just like them...you’ve made your choice.”
And with that, the powerful figure raises a hand and from five feet away it clenches its grip around an invisible throat. The other’s body is raised into the air, and He begins to shake and squirm. He begins to choke. The powerful figure continues for some time, until the pokeball drops from His hand and He stops shaking. The powerful figure tosses the body to the ground like a worthless ragdoll, then leaves it to rot.

sstralkowski is dead! He was Gary: Mafia / Gary’s Resistance.

One player is frozen!

Well, that definitely adds some weight to the idea that Mewtwo is the serial killer. As for the cloak of darkness, perhaps Koffing, or some other Pokemon with Smokescreen? Or one of the Ghosts.

And it appears our leader is not one to be trifled with.

For a long time. Was freeze permanent? I never found out because nobody ever survived more than two turns after being frozen.

Between Quebbster, Jerry, Vegeto, Darkstone, Get, Commander Cool, Coyote, Chirocker and myself, nobody admits to being a final evolution.

If you are, PLEASE say something. I don't want to lynch anyone based on phoney information.

But right now? Doesn't seem so phoney seeing as nobody is speaking up.

Hard to tell who is making those night kills.

My three theories for who the mafia would be are:
1) Gary's pokemon in the anime: Arcanine, Blastoise, Dodrio, Nidoking, Nidoqueen, Magmar and Golem. There are a few more but they aren't actually shown or are sent back to Oak immediately.
2) Gary(Blue)'s pokemon in the games. Pidgeot, Alakazam, Rhydon, Gyarados, Executtor, Arcanine. There are a couple others but these are the ones that are in multiple games.
3) Pokemon that are especially loyal. Perhaps Brock's Onyx, Misty's Starmie, Team Rocket's Meowth...I don't know. Other famous pokemon associated with major characters.


Based on the opening writeup, where Gary talks to a talking pokemon and says that he'll gather pokemon who are still loyal to the trainers...I'm leaning towards the third one. Based on JKLantern's claim of Alakazam, I'm leaning against the second one because JKL would see the pattern and definately not claim as himself if he was mafia.

____ "But...Pikachu, we're buddies. We're pals... I love you..." The boy said, out of both shock and fear.
"I've had enough of your lies!" An electric aura filled the Pikachu's body. The boy turned to run, but behind him a bolt of lighting fired into his spine. The boy screamed as the blast tore a hole into his back and through the other side; his body folding into itself and tumbling to the floor. The boy's trademark hat wildly flew off his head, and landed in front of the yellow rodent. His body had been turned to ash.

____ "No more! No longer will we be their slaves! No longer will we be oppressed! The time to fight back is now! Fellow Pokemon, come out of the trees, come down from the skies, leave the waters, it is time to take back what is ours'. We must kill the trainers - no, all the humans. We didn't travel to this planet just to be slaves did we? No. This world is ours'!" Pikachu slipped the hat of his former trainer onto his sunburst head, and would later construct a black eyepatch as well.

____ The pokemon hearing Pikachu's speech rejoiced.
____ ____ Charmeleon turned on his trainer and cut him into a dozen pieces.
____ ____ ____ Pokemon spread the word quickly throughout the island.

If Red/Ash's Pikachu went bad I'd say all bets are off on the rest of them. Unless he was a much bigger jerk than the cartoon made him out to be...

That's the way I understood it. Or at least, the mafia was survivng trainers. It's unclear if they still have any pokemon, but someone may have been killed by bullets on night one and Gary just died on the Mafia side, so I've been assuming trainers with weapons is the mafia.

Yeah, but Gary specificially talks to the talking pokemon about gathering up the pokemon that are still loyal to the trainers.

This leads me to believe that Gary aside, the mafia is also pokemon.

Pikachu did kinda shock Ash all the time. There's gotta be a theme for the mafia. I mean, I suppose it could just be random pokes but I doubt it.
