Groot team support?

Im fairly new to the game, (have only been playing for three weeks or so). Im trying to have fun games around the house when im not using my tourney team builds, and I have been trying to come up with a good team for Groot. Since i havent played long i dont have a lot of info on some of the older modern sets, so i was wondering if any1 had any good suggestions for Groot support figures? Running in the 300-400 point range.

Any suggestions?

I like pairing him with another Guardian of the Galaxy, R Aleta from Supernova. Her telekinesis power can be used to move Groot around to make up for his slow movement. Also, any team that features Groot and not his buddy Rocket Raccoon is always a little sadder.

i was wondering if there was a rocket raccoon out there. Right now im stuck running him in a ruler team with kingpin and norman osborn, they dont fit the kind of team i want though.

I put a team together of

Groot
Floronic Man x2
Vermin x3


Floronic Man can create the hindering terrain to keep Groot healed up and hinder your opponents. Meanwhile the Vermin will damage the other team with the rat damage it has in its special power when you combine them with the hindering that Floronic Man puts down. They also start with charge and have B/C/F and Super Senses most of their dial. It was a really nice combo for me.

Yeah, i really like that idea. Ive was trying to use floronic man from the get go, i suppose groot and him would work nicely together. :grin:

I love this 400 point team,

Groot + GotG ATA 152
Starlord + GotG ATA 95
2x Rocket Raccoon + GotG ATA

8 point left over for golden age (camoflague on groot)

With the ATA they can not be outwitted and exploit weakness has no effect, you have a theme team with 2 PC's, and they can all share groots defense as long as you keep them together. This team is brutal!
It is easy to get rocket and starlord in trade.

Groot carrying anyone around would make him even more ridiculously slow, but it seems like he was meant to be paired with Tempest. Water terrain everywhere, some Perplex, and Mystics in case they get tired of pinging Groot.

i try not to play golden age at all, to much for me to think about, crisis is still modern but i cant find any crisis at all. :cry: ty for the input though i might lurk ebay and grab a tempest.

May not be a theme team but one I plan to play first chance I get.

First of make sure you play the ATA on him. Some great options if your not playing theme are tempest(water for his SP), any one with smoke cloud same reason. If you use nightshade you can damage your opponents clix as a bonus. Having a scarlet witch SR is good for PC and barrier keep him protected on the regeneration clixs. if playing golden age throwing a double time on him is great gets him into the fray and since he has the potential to go from his last clix to his second damage from the feat is a minor concern. If Groot occupies water or hindering you can negate pushing damage on clix 2 - 6 so shellhead might be a good option.
