Is there any way to connect venues? I ask because our venue traveled to another venue & had a blast. Our venue meets almost every Saturday & I'm sure there are other venues within driving distance we could challenge. If there could be a way to connect the venues on a map it would be a great addition to this site.

That sounds like it's outside the realm of the Realms.
It certainly sounds like an interesting idea, but I'm not sure what kind of interface or something would be most worthwhile to do something like that.

I am not a website programmer but I work with one so I understand anytime you add something it is never as simple as it sounds.
Here are the basics of my idea:
1)Add a venue section that is accessed through a map. That way if someone vacations in say Myrtle Beach, SC or Las Vegas, NV they know where to play Heroclix. It would also help venues connect and arrange tournaments like the one we had in Myrtle Beach.
2)Allow players to comment on venues. Have a contributor verify & follow up on all venues (check on negative ratings & remove any venue that has too many verified negative ratings)
3)Allow approved venues access to the state access (Location) already in the Optional Information section of your control panel. This would give the venues the ability to contact players about upcoming tournaments.
I know this needs work & I am willing to help where I can, but until WizKids forms some sort of organized play we are on our own.

um... I thought that was the point of posting games in the tournaments forum? that seems/ed like a reasonable way to keep track of who's where, etc... or am I being unreasonable?

That works to a point but it would be easier for players to find venues with a map.
What I am suggesting is something for venues to connect with players and each other. Venues are not nessarlly businesses. They may be groups of players that have a regular place they play. There would have to be some sort of definition to be considered a venue. Venues connecting is fun. Our experience is one we will repeat. It just seems there must be a way for venues to connect could be easier and hcrealms is THE WEBSITE for clix players.

Even websites that have similar features don't have to compete. HCRealms and WizKids/HeroClix.com, for example, work together. I'd bet HCRealms would be willing to work with someone who worked on this project using their own resources... Especially since that would mean less maintenance work for HCRealms staff.

Valid Point but I am not a website programmer. I am just a player who has an idea I think could work with this site. I also am willing to help where I can.

Then even if someone from outside your area is coming through they might be able to catch a game. Also people in your area that are on the realms may see it as well. Google maps will work just as well for them as it would anyone else. Just a suggestion.

I am starting gather information using a social group just in our area The Carolinas. The social group is where I am starting. A blog may be next but I must admit I don't know how to set up a blog. I disagree with you though about this being good for the realms. I joined this site first for the units section (whoever did that & maintains the units section has my MANY THANKS). Once I was here for a while I found I was enjoying it & it was improving my game play.
If the hcrealms has a way for venues to connect players. Players will join just to connect and WizKids has yet to give us any sort of organized play.

Google does allow you to save locations to map lists and you can make those map lists public. It may not be perfect, but it's a start.

I guess I will start there in the group I have started but I will not give up on asking for this until Typhon says no.

A day has passed & the more I think about this the more I feel the gauntlet has been thrown down. Within the next week I will start this map. (I have to learn how to do this.) Everyone who has joined Clix of the Carolinas (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/group.php?groupid=84&gmid=9906#gmessage9906) I say thanks. I also am asking others to join. I may start with the Carolinas but as I think about this. I think this is a resource the players could use and there is no need to limit it to the Carolinas. I will need everyone to provide me with as much info about your venue as possible. At a minimum I need location and when you play. Post your venues info in the group.

I like this idea a lot. Let me know when you start expanding and I'll shoot you the Delaware locations.
OK, I am ready to take this a little farther. I have added a blog (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/blog.php?u=46391&blogcategoryid=65), extended my map (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&ll=32.866593,-79.971499&spn=0.016131,0.016437&z=16&msid=101696380039468655067.000495fea1b13c30dee89&mid=1293926795) to include all of the US & started a thread (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?t=298409) for everyone to provide me with your venue location / play time. I feel like my venue (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?t=288031) is my team and we want to challenge other venues. I also think this model can be duplicated by other venues that is the reason for my map & my blog.
I would personally like to request that all venues set up Social Groups (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/group.php) because when we roll out the Venue system here; it will be tied into Social Groups.
