View Full Version : Is everyone looking past DC75th?

Aside from the awesome Beast Boy preview and all the discussion on him, I feel like everyone is looking past DC75th and looking forward to Giant Size X-Men. Most of the threads/polls I've seen the past few days have been about the giant X-men. Why is Dc75th getting ignored??
anyone else feel the same with either of these? maybe post one thing here you're gonna like about DC75th if you feel like its getting ignored..
I'm a Marvel guy, but I'm still getting pretty excited for DC75th. So far the previews have been nice, and the sculpts aren't lookin to shabby.

I'm a Marvel guy too, but DC75 looks great. Most excited I think I've ever been for a DC set.

In a word, no. I do not feel that DC75 is being overshadowed by the trickle of info we've received re: GSX.
That said, I predict that someone will post a similiar musing when the GSX previews begin and solicits start trickling out for whatever the next DC-themed set will be.
It's the Circle of Clix, and we must all play our part. :classic:
More to the point, I am very excited for DC75's impending release and will feel the same for GSX once we're closer to that date as well. ;)

I like, and will probably play, the new Beast Boy. That being said, I don't care much for the characters previewed so far. I'm sure my interest will spike when they review Atroticus, Larfleeze and (hopefully, according to Boneyard's list) an updated Owlman.
A new Zod would be peachy as well.

It was my understanding that Owlman was rumored only because people that saw the Golden Age Batman sculpt couldn't distinguish Batman from Owlman.

For the most part I am a DC guy, but I've liked the x-men since the 90's animated shows and 90's comics, I especially liked the x-factor run going on then so I am really psyched for Madrox, hope to see more of them. Stryfe was a great character missing in clix way too long. On the other hand, I'm hoping for more Titans in DC75th, without knowing the set lists yet I can't say.

DC75th is currently the main focus. I am not looking past it at this time.

I agree with you. If things keep going how they have been, it could be the DC set to rival Crisis (which also had a teen titans subtheme... hmm, I think I see a trend)

Has WK started doing one DC and then one Marvel?
It used to be, like, 2 to 1 in Marvel's favor.
And I am getting that feeling that DC 75th seems to be getting less attention.
But it's not the first time I've seen this happen with a gaming release.

Same here. I was lookin at trying to get a case of x-men (skip the DC set again, and double up on marvel) but after looking at this set a little bit, I think I may have to just do a brick of each..

From the day we arrive on the Realms
And mistyping, step into the Throng
There's more to click than just damage Dealt
Less to get right than there is to get wrong
There's far too much to take in here
More to speculate than can ever be proved
From the Doomsaying Trolls
To the powercreep Crying Thralls
The discussion here has never really moved
It's the Circle of Clix
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we get our piece
We've been waiting for for years
In the Circle

Yes, I'm very excited for DC 75th.
The Wonder Twins, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman on a horse, Doomsday, Bane, Ganthet, Scar, Black Alice, Sgt. Rock, Easy Company Soldier, Solovar, Gorilla City Warrior, Beast Boy x 4, Mr. Terrific, Isis, Johnny Quick, and about 55 more different pieces?
Yep, I'm excited!!! :)
This has always happened with any game I've played. Right before a set is released people always start looking forward to the next one. After you have gotten a bunch of previews and all the info about the current set coming out of course people start getting excited about all the unknown and all the cool stuff that could be in the next set. Of course this game is a little different because some people only buy Marvel mostly and some only buy DC mostly. And then add on top of that the Marvel set gets something totally new (Super Boosters) that people are excited for and you can easily see why some people are looking past DC 75th.

No way. There's just a lot of people invested into X-World. And it's new information as opposed to a new character(s). No worries. I'm pretty sure DC75th will be just fine.
Lord knows if you don't get any Larfleeze and Sinestro are going to be HIGHLY sought after SR's. not to mention the one per brick White Lantern Corps.
Also, if you don't buy, then no White Sinestro BiBtB for you!
It'll be fine. In the true Marvel way, it's all about the hype (not so much about the storytelling or continuity).

I am not looking past DC 75th, but I am happy about the nextset so far. Looking at DC 75th confirmed list has me HAVING TO GET 14 pieces so far (and that is without seeing what else is in the set). DC 75th is what I have been anticipating since it was pronounced and GSZ does sound good as well.
I'm a Marvel guy, but DC75th is the first DC I've ever actually been excited for. That being said, the small amount of information shown about Giant Size X-Men is turning it into the X-Men set I would design myself... so it's kind of hard to not get super excited for it.

I think you're ignoring extended discussions of apes and the like. There are threads around for everyone!

It was my understanding that Owlman was rumored only because people that saw the Golden Age Batman sculpt couldn't distinguish Batman from Owlman.
Unless they furtively displayed him and then immediately hid him away from all eyes, there was no Owlman displayed at GenCon, just GA Batman.

If you're looking for the GSX threads and posts, then that's what you'll find. If you're looking for DC 75th posts, that's what you'll find. It's kind of like when you're looking to buy a new car and all you see on the road is that brand of car that you really have your heart set on. The DC people will be seeing more DC threads and Marvel people will be seeing more Marvel sets. I'm getting more and more excited for DC 75th every day. Once that set is released, I'll be nearly neurotic over the X-Men set.

I'm looking forward to both DC75 and GXM. I don't see my interest in what's in GXM as "looking past" DC75. I just see it as basically just wanting to know what's in each set WK makes. These are good times to be a Clix player! Enjoy the now and look forward to the future!

Most of my focus is still on DC75.
Even as good as GSX sounds so far, I highly doubt it will seriously rival the excitement I am already feeling for DC75, with about half the set still unknown.

GSX is a whole new set, and it's the beginning of something very different in the game. Not to mention that today there was a big infodump through the flyer and solicitations.
Aside from the White Lanterns, DC75 is "just another set." At at this stage in the game, we're getting information on a character or two rather than big sweeping comments.
So it's not so much that people aren't feeling the love for DC75. It's just that there's more to discuss with GSX right now.

I'll admit I am more excited for GSX than I am DC75. But that does not mean I am looking past it. There are several figures on Boneyard's list that I am excited for and I am planning on getting two cases.

GSX is a whole new set, and it's the beginning of something very different in the game.
The excitement of all that is watered down by the fact that it is an X-Men set. The two elements kinda balance each other out for me, so, while I still maintain excitement for Giant-Size X-Men, the excitement isn't as enormous as it ought to be, considering the novel elements that set will be bringing.

This always happens at this point in the PR cycle. WK dumps a lot of new info (or it leaks) right before a set. Anyway, no, GSX is not forefront in my mind, since DC75 looks like the best new set in a long time, at least for my tastes.

I am always excited for my dearest DC expansions.
I can usually afford 2 cases of DC by almost completley not buying any marvel, I get boosters for events and singles of the pieces I think would be neat to have.
Ironically with Marvel in regards to heroclix pieces even slightly older versions of the same character hold up very well due to stats.
If they would employ this with DC I would never buy Marvel, that is if they would redo what they did in 'Icons' with future DC sets along with the addition of special powers, ah, no one ever said that dreaming was expensive.

Troma99. . . Don't be that guy telling me to not tell other people to not be that guy.
How long do you think we can keep this going.
And it's my goal in life to be the guy who tells people to not be that guy.
In fact, I have witnesses from my old HeroClix days who can tell you that I was using "Don't be that guy" before it was cool to use "Don't be that guy" and as you can see, I'm still using it after it's cool

I have never understood DC vs. Marvel nonsense. Even if you detest one company over another, from a stricltly gaming perspective new pieces are new pieces.
I read Marvel growing up, and incorporated DC. In the interest of streamlining and collecting just teams I like it's going to be more Marvel for me............but the idea of being a jerk about a friggin' Heroclix set is just beyond me, and I tend to totallty ignore folks that are arse-head partisans.

I have to admit I am a little more excited about GSX then DC 75th, that is because there is some X-men that need to be done right, and hopeful this set will do it. Mystique is one of the characters that I am excited about, the last one done was in AW (and she is the best one of the bunch in my opinion), but she is sorely lacking in the power she can do. Doing Angel, wolverine, Cyclops, Colossus, and Kitty right by the dial, I believe this is the set to do it. So there is some more excitement.
With DC 75th, there is Wonder Woman but I think AA Wonder Woman did her justice. There will be Batman but there is the JL OotS Batman. There will be Superman but there is the Icons V Superman, both chase Superman, and AA Superman prime. There is Doomsday, but there was one with JL; even thugh this will be an improvement, still I do not care about doing another dial for the character. Bane which needs to be done but I never really cared for Bane, so that does not excite me.
What would excite me more is redo of Giganta, Rita Farr, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, and several of the KC figures (such as Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Flash, etc.). What should be in the set should be Red Sun Superman (a very popular figure to represent DC 75th). Another story would be Kingdom Come (which was discuss early), again a very popular story, well known amongst comic book fans, would also represent DC 75th real well. If these figures are in the set, whether it is 1, 2,3 or all, then I would be more excited about the set.
It seems to me, that WK always focuses on C, and D listed characters more then characters of the A and B variety, but that is my opinion and I could be wrong.
Kingdom Come importants characters were all done between Unleashed and Legacy, and frankly they didn't need a remake as they are still great and balanced figures to play (the Chase KC supe from crisis is supposed to represent him during the 'Thy Kingdom Come' story arc from the JSA), while there have been talks and rumours of the Red Son Supe since Cosmic Justice was released...so maybe, one day...a communist Superman, since we already had the über tyran twice (Son of Darkseid and Ultraman).
A good idea of complete set would be an Elseworlds one, with the Superbat from 'Speeding Bullets' (Kal-el being Bruce Wayne, yes), the JSA from 'Liberty files', the 19th century Batman, the arabian nights Green Lantern, and so forth...
As much as I'm thrilled by DC75th, it seems to me, european guy, that it'll be less thrilling than GSX. Most notably because GSX seems, so far, to have figs everyone is drooling about, or has been asking for ages, or are real improvements/modifications of existing ones (Colossus+Wolverine doing a fastball special? SIGN ME IN!!)...not mentionning the 90's craze which, to me, was total poo in Marvel (and nearly total poo in DC : don't you dare Wizkids boys to do us a Blood Pack team!! But I can take the Atom-fronted Titans like Argent, Risk, Fringe, prysm and Hot spot, please :p)
(the Chase KC supe from crisis is supposed to represent him during the 'Thy Kingdom Come' story arc from the JSA),
No, it isn't. Read his character card.
That said, he at least is a good representation of Earth-22 Superman, but he wasn't meant to represent him. That storyline might have been just starting when Crisis was released.

So, some of the KC figures were not done too well, or did you forget about the horror that is KC Batman. Besides we already got Doomsday, but they are making another one. So I think they should have KC figures in here as it is part of the 75th anniversery of DC comics, and it is a well known story line.

im not looking forward to dc 75th but to be fair im more of marvel guy. there are some pieces i like such as rag doll, black alice and doomsday but generally i cant stand anything lantern related and i despise beast boy so this may not be the set for mee
the fact they wasted four slots on beast boy annoys me.
i have never have been as excited about a set as i am for gsx. cant wait!
I've been clixin since 2003 and I have never been more excited about an upcoming set than I am for DC 75th. I'm really looking forward to getting some use out of my Deadman with all these white lanterns.
I really can't understand how people aren't excited for this set considering the amazing previews we have been having.
I could care less about GS X-Men at this point. Will probably just cherry pick a few figs from there, but will definitely not buy boosters much less super boosters.
I like Marvel as well but there are more then a few DC clix in that set that interest me.
So nope i am not looking past it.
I think that it's funny that every time a marvel set is due out soon they've already spoiled what the next DC set is going to be as well as a few "LEAKED" pictures and focus on the soon to be released set is lost. The same can be said in reverse. No matter what, though, the fans of each respective universe complain about it because they feel slighted but it happens to BOTH SIDES OF THE CAMP. Fans are fickle and they are already to move on to the next big thing.

I wasn't much into the DC 75th, but for a couple weeks there I swear we had more confirmed GSX clix then DC 75th. Now that there is more DC spoilers out there(Sinestro and Mongul dials, Bane and Doomsday Traits) I'm getting more and more jacked for DC 75th.
I will admit, I am wwwaaayyyy more excited about X-Men than DC 75th overall, but with spoilers rolling out, my excitement builds.

My excitement for DC75th just skyrocketed today with the leaks of Scar, Mongul, Sinestro, and some others. Before these were leaked I was becoming more and more disappointed especially with a lackluster dial like Larfleeze. I'm not ready to start pre-ordering my cases.
