follow my logic here...

to date, the new Wizkids has tried to spread its new mechanics and distribution as evenly as they can manage across the two big publishers.

Æ was introduced in Brave & the Bold, and was explored again in Web Of Spider-Man, but seems altogether absent in the next two sets releasing...

Minion Mechanics were used heavily in Hammer Of Thor, and then bled over into Brave & the Bold.

the rarity schemes have been a bit erratic recently, but is it too much of a stretch of the imagination that following Giant Sized X-Men, we might see a similar Giant sized DC set?

...and so then, the question is: if so... what's a good theme for such a set? the Next DC set, about to launch is all encompassing... 75 year anniversary and all that... but has a heavy Lantern theme to it... so let's say we throw out Lanterns as a primary theme for argument's sake, and we assume that they will want to do something with a solid theme like X-Men, while giving them a chance to do some giants as well...?

through the magic of puns, I have the answer:

DC Titans~!

I approve of puns!

But, I have to say that there's a serious difference between super boosters and the other experimental mechanics. I wouldn't be surprised if they're duo-planning the next DC set. "If super boosters sell like crazy, we do X, if they don't, we do Y."

Giant/Colossals:
Chemo
Elasti-Girl (Modern Costume)
Brimstone (People've been asking for it)
Swamp Thing, Hey I can Hope Right.

I do have a feeling that WK is experimenting with the Chase concept and I think we are seeing 2 back to back experiments. DC is getting the 10 figure subset and Marvel is getting the 8 2x2 base giants/teams. I am curious to see how both fare, as I like both concepts way better than standard chases.

I think if I had to choose, I would continue with the 10 figure subset over superboosters, because that would allow for remakes of figures in non-standard versions, like 5 KC versions plus 5 Veteran totally maxed out E2 version of the big 5.

I would absolutely, without-a-doubt want a giant-size Swamp Thing. I'd also want Maul from WILDCats (since Wildstorm is considered to be one of DC's 52 universes.)

Should Swamp Thing be a giant? I havent read it in a long time.

Super Boosters over the 10-chase thing.

Duo-Sized DC!

An entire set of duo based pieces, with special boosters featuring quad bases!

Bah, quad bases have been done. DC needs to up the ante with 4x4 hexadecimal bases!

I agree that they are probably just experimenting with things to see what sells - if they were just going for equality, where is the marvel set with 12 duo peanuts as SRs? I mean, I'm pretty sure there was a Marvel title called "Marvel Team-Up" or something...

C'mon, folks... show Marvel some love and give them 16 SR peanuts! :)

I am actually trying to think of what a "Common" collosal/Sentinel-equivalent fig for DC could be...

Thanks for reading!

Boxy 40's style robots, marching down to rob the bank, of course! Lex Luthor made them by the truckload in the old days!

I would want Validus.

How about a colossal that has 2 bases. Something like a Celestial where each foot is placed on a 2x2 base with room between for a single or two?

Ok, so far, so good. :classic:

As reasonable a theory as any.

Not too stretchy IMHO. Still with you so far.

...and so then, the question is: if so... what's a good theme for such a set? the Next DC set, about to launch is all encompassing... 75 year anniversary and all that... but has a heavy Lantern theme to it... so let's say we throw out Lanterns as a primary theme for argument's sake, and we assume that they will want to do something with a solid theme like X-Men, while giving them a chance to do some giants as well...?

Emphasis mine; this is the question at hand. X-Men fits the idea of a "giant sized set on many levels. First, we have the fact that an X-specific set really hasn't been done since X-Plosion. Secondly we have the corresponding fact that the X-Universe lends itself to many colossal-styled characters (Sentinels, Apocalypse, etc...). Thirdly, we have the fact that the comic that introduced (or re-introduced as the case may be) the X-Men to readers was, in fact, Giant-Size X-Men.

So, the question we have to ask ourselves, as you've pointed out, is this: Is there a corresponding theme in the DCU for such a set? To which you answer (puns aside):

through the magic of puns, I have the answer:

DC Titans~!

This is actually a pretty good idea on a couple of fronts. First off, both Wonder Woman and the Teen Titans/Titans have yet to really have a set that highlights their particular mythos.

Wonder Woman, of course, fits the theme as she has interacted with many of the titans of myth as well as the Greek Gods, most of whom (with the exception of Ares) have yet to see themselves cast in Clix-form.

A good number of these characters could be cast as colossal sized figures.

The Teen Titans/Titans fit the theme becuase, well they're the Titans. LOL

Actually since their inspiration are the Titans of myth, and since they themselves have faced colossal opponents (Trigon anyone?), the Titans would be a great fit for such a theme.

Add in the fact that essentially the Titans have been DC's X-Men and it's almost a lock. ;)

Yep, I think you have a pretty good winner here. :classic:

If they actually did a "giant" size set called "Titans", it would have a super-sized Trigon.

Dude, a Giant Trigon would tick off my venue so much...
cause I would never play another figure ever again =]]]]]]]
