So I'm trying to give my cousins a unique housewarming gift. They are the current owners of the Super Pac-Man arcade game that's been in my family for years now.

It's been on the fritz for about two years so I told them I'd do my best to restore it for them. Well I think I bit off more than I can chew.
Turns out the flickering and dimming monitor will require a brand new set of capacitors so I'll need to buy a soldering iron and try and dust off my skills from my electronics assembly job I had in college. On top of that, the back door to the thing has no key. At some point through the years, they were lost so it's not been opened in a long long time. I'll have to drill it out and replace it with a new one. I haven't even looked at the control panel yet to see if I'll need to replace some buttons. I'm excited about the adventure, but feeling a bit aprehensive given my skill set.

So my brother's Alma Matter's Acappela group, YU's Maccabeats, made this cute little "Dynamite" parody about Chanukah. It's made up of mostly older brothers of my friends and classmates. It's been on ABC, CBS, Fox, has 1.5 million youtube views in a week, and there is a petition to get them onto Colbert.
What the #### happened... I don't get it.

Well, I'm at work, and not busy, and could really get into some mafia distraction, but apparently there are others out there who have fun things to do on the weekends. I think that might be why. :(
Speaking of fun. Went to a basketball game last night with Stan, his wife and FFF. My first basketball game and it was actually more enjoyable than I thought it would be. The Sixers actually won, so that helps. :laugh: Oh, here are the players' names, according to Truffles:
Meeeeeeks!! (he was on fire the first half with 3 pt shots)
Ali Baba (Iguodala)
Doc Holiday! (Jrue Holiday)
The White Guy (who can shoot)
The Other White Guy (who can't shoot)
The Other, Other White Guy (on the other team)
And I swear at one point the announcer yelled out [something] Gadaffi (I'm not sure who that actually was).
And the one name that should never be changed or shortened:

Speaking of Xmas, yesterday was quite possibly the best shopping excursion I've ever been on. My wife and I were able to find gifts for every single one of our people on our list (including a last minute online purchase)... Plus I got to carry my own gift from her around the store (XBox's are heavyyyyyyyy :laugh:)

:laugh: Thanks Tony. Looked up the pictures of the possible White Guys and it was Hawes that could shoot and Nocioni who could not. At least last night that's how it was.
I don't think Kapono played at all. And boy, was the coach ripping Nocioni a new one at one point. We were in row 8, right behind the Sixers. That was fun to watch.

Speaking of Xmas, yesterday was quite possibly the best shopping excursion I've ever been on. My wife and I were able to find gifts for every single one of our people on our list (including a last minute online purchase)... Plus I got to carry my own gift from her around the store (XBox's are heavyyyyyyyy :laugh:)
I'd better see you and her on some Black Ops over the break. :laugh: You guys can both go online using one LIVE account now. It's a lot of fun.

Her birthday was last month, and the necklace was supposed to be a combined birthday/christmas present.

Agreed. Never ever pay for a subscription. Get the subscription cards online through someone. I think Amazon is still selling them for 40 bucks.

I don't have anything special planned. It's a national holiday (on a monday no less), it's a custom to light two candles in each window. Usual stuff, visits to war memorials, and much like every Christmas "It's a Wonderful Life" is shown, this monday once again "The Unknown Soldier" (a finnish WW2 movie) is shown. In the evening the presidential independence day reception, the "castle ball" is shown, basically it's 3-4 hours watching our president shake hands with each guest (2000 guests), while commentators discuss the dresses the guests are wearing. Celebrities, stars, war veterans, politicians, etc. For me the only reason to watch it is to see some of our female athletes all dressed up.

Never played it, but I hate monopoly. Mostly because I can't get people to put their damn house rules to bed and just play the game properly.

Fortunately she doesn't demand that I buy it - she just wants it. If she doesn't get it for Christmas she'll just buy it herself.

Just wow. Then again, I did buy a $500 iPhone for my wife for her birthday when they were first released. The price dropped by $200 just a few months later.

Funny. The camera is much less a priority than the speed of the internet connection is to my wife. But to each his/her own. For $500-600, I'd buy myself a Blu-ray home theater system with surround sound. (I have a Blu-ray player but I am missing the 7.1 sound that would complete the experience.)

To be honest, if I had that kind of money to spend, it'd probably go into paying off credit card debt or getting a new set of brakes for the car. It's gonna be a long while before I can dream of getting the home theater set-up that I want. For the moment, all I can do is dream.

I agree, it's funny though. Since I try to get domestic products, I'm currently on my fourth Nokia in a 12 year span, and the unfortunate fact is that currently atleast Nokia's phones can't handle the pain as well as they used to. A lot of damage was dealt to the early ones, and they still worked perfectly. Nowadays a single drop can kill them permanently.
Just FYI, not talking about personal experience, I know how to handle them, it's just that my brother has had 8 or more phones in as many years.

First Flashpoint, and now Lost Girl, I'm enjoying canadian tv more than I thought possible.
If you haven't checked Lost Girl yet, I highly recommend it. I see it as a mix between Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Dark Angel, but with more nudity, in a tasteful manner though.

While I'm allowed to either get paid out or carry it over to next year, I doubt I would be allowed to use it before April next year due to other things I can't talk about. So it's not like I can just take it the first 2 weeks of January. *sigh* This too, shall pass.

Sounds like they're working you guys to death - which if there is a reward (like being paid time and a half or some sort of project completion bonus), well okay, it may make it easier to deal with. But if the employer is treating this like status quo and not showing any appreciation for the long hours and the tension, perhaps a search for a new employer is in order.
Of course, in this economy it's an employers' market so I bet there's plenty of companies that are taking full advantage of the fact that they can just hire the next guy in line to work to death.

Sigoski (?) and Ch'ree (?) the little head of fur, looked like a cat, could be added to his base - maybe on his shoulders or something and give Ch'od a click of healing to represent Sigoski (whatever that robotic bug's name was) since he had healing abilities. that would complete the original Starjammers after how many years? :confused:

Okay, I just had a revelation moment. Like you realize something, and you maybe even become overwhelmed with thoughts and emotions. And so many times we go without saying things that we should say, that are important so I'm going to share.

It's Sikorsky, like the helicopter (somewhat appropriate because Sikorsky looks like a bug-helicopter hybrid). On a related note, I wouldn't mind seeing Darwin too, and Rogue, while we're at it (special powers FTW). I have a lot of expectations on UXM. That Magneto better be 150-200 points, and that Iceman better have the X-Factor keyword. Not to mention all the stuff Mystique does.

So, my family planned a meet-up at one of their time-shares this coming summer.......the same week of WW Philly.
On the upside, they are proposing to take me to the airport later that week to send me to Philly, and then I can just fly home. :classic:
On the downside, I feel really really guilty about not spending that time with them instead. Particularly my brother. :disappointed:
Unless I can figure out a way to convince him to go with me, which I'm not putting any stock in at all. 'T'would be awesome, though.

Spending part of the week at the timeshare and the weekend in Philly sounds like a win-win scenario. If your brother should come along to WWE, it'd be a win-win-win, so either way you come out ahead.
In other news, there is talk of me being able to attend next year after all, even though WWE falls on the same weekend as my daughter's birthday.
