So, our next film, Classic or Crud, Hit or Miss, what say you ALL?

Our next film open for discussion, and ultimately an Overall RATING by you all, is:

INCEPTION
66TuSJo4dZM

Let the discussions flow. Likes, dislikes, classic film or overhyped trash, and DONT FORGET to place an Overall Rating when youre done.

Its easy, just give a Rating from 1 (Jaws 4:The Revenge) to 10 (Jaws), and thats it. Course I'd love to have you all give reasons as to why you feel it deserves this Overall Rating, and more than encourage discussions with us all about them.

ALSO: I urge Any and All of you who have yet to do so, to go back to our older catalogue of RtM films (Very easily done by the Links List right on the top of the Rate The Movies Forum), and vote for your favorite, not so favorite, and anything in between movies. We have HEAPS there already, some Classics, some Crud, let's hear what YOU think about them ALL! :)

So, what say you all?

I'd heard that this movie was good, but I was really unprepared for how good it was. Great story, great concept, great actors. Not a thing to complain about here. I loved this movie. I can't wait for it to arrive on Blu-Ray so that I can watch it again.

Visuals - 8 ------> nothing ground breaking or 'wow'
Acting - 9 ----> good solid performances
Story - 10 -----> loved the concept, very well executed

9/10

I'm going to be getting this on blu-ray for certain. Just a spectacular piece of movie-making that really has some jaw-dropping moments, both visually and from the story.

If I rank it among "films" it is a 9. Among "movies" it is a 10.

For snobs or not: 9.5/10.

This movie wasn't half as clever as it presented itself to be.
The visuals were great, but the music was distracting.
At about the two hour mark I was bored and just waiting for it to end so I could go grab a burger.

6/10 (mainly for the special effects and the lovely Ellen Page)

I heard such extreme praise for this movie that I had no choice but to watch it. I have to say, I didn't see it as the cinematic masterpiece I've been led to believe. Was it a good concept? Yes. Was it a great one? No. The acting was good but in the way that no one was terrible that I wish they wouldn't show on screen.
I probably viewed this movie differently than most. I looked at it from the angle of watching a "heist flick" which it was to a sense. It was the planning, prep and execution of the big plan that I found intriguing. In that train of thought I found the movie quite enjoyable.

An excellent film. I also saw it as more of a heist film than a sci-fi movie, which is neither here nor there really but it is interesting that at least two of us saw it that way. It was however, an ingenious heist film that took an old theme and brought something entirely new to it. And though I am rarely if ever impressed by effects or visuals, I have to admit to being awed by some of the dreamscape cinematic trickery. Also the acting was top notch and I thought the music fit the film perfectly, (which for me is one of the most important aspects of a movie).

So all in all it was pretty outstanding, not an all-time classic but certainly in the running for best film of the year.

Chris Nolan sure knows how to make an innovative, interesting movie. I liked that there was a pretty equal mix of character development and action. I also liked that the ending was somewhat open to interpretation. I wish I had seen it on the big screen, but then again on DVD it'll receive repeated viewings in my home.

8.5/10

A lot of people I know were terribly bored by this, my wife especially. I on the other hand was fully engaged and I think it's a movie that you really need that to enjoy it (it can't really be white noise). I loved Inception and consider it one of the year's best.

IF it wasn't for the first half of the movie and all the boring explaining of the whole plot it would have been a great movie if they left that out...

but seeing as I was bored senseless for the first half of the movie 5.5/10

at least if you buy it on DVD, you can skip the first 12 scenes...I guess..

When this was over my wife looked at me and said; wow! an intelligent move that makes you think... normally she thinks the movies I drag her to a dogs, dumb dogs, or stupid dogs... and sometimes, every once in a while, maybe she will enjoy the movie like Casino Royale or some others but she really liked this one... I may have to rent it on blu-ray for a second opinion......7.5, if not for all the hype I would have been more impressed but with all the hype I was expecting The Empire Strikes Back not Return of the Sith.

Love Nolan as a director, but I think they tried to do too much with the story, and got way too involved. I don't mind a convoluted plot as long as where it takes me is someplace enjoyable. Cool concept, visuals were stunning, and acting was very good, even DiCaprio got away from his typical "Please, please, please give me an Oscar" performance and just played the part.

Great movie that you have to pay attention to or you will miss something. good rewatchability to it as well. Should have won Best Picture, but the Academy is all politics anyway. I give it a 10/10

Inception, I have to say it was a good plot but there were times I wanted to just fast forward past the stuff.
