Icons Booster Draft [Archive]

The local shop owner found a great deal on a case of Icons boosters and is selling them CHEAP. We decided to do a booster draft. Other than knowing that whoever pulls V Superman wins, what should I be looking for? What patterns were in that set (such as high Att/low Def, few damage reducers, etc..)?

I thinks this will be lots of fun.

There aren't any patterns I recognized, although I was lucky enough to pull V Supes with U Lex Luthor on three separate occasions. :) R Supes and E Batman would be my ideal Icons draft team (299).

Team building will depend on the point build and whether you will be house-ruling the Arch Enemy mechanic (as a throwback to that era of Heroclix).

Facing V Supes is a daunting, but not impossible, situation. I was able to defeat a player using him as a one-man army, with a Rookie Batman, E Darkseid and V Blackfire (297) in a 300 point Icons draft. Outwit his HSS and/or Impervious, then widdle him down. The trick is to knock him past his RCE, as he'll be able to one-shot Batman or Blackfire while remaining stationary.

Rookie Blackfire at 48 pts 4 damage on her top 2 clixs is a must use if can fit her on your team

All of the ravens are really great support pieces. All versions of Darkseid have psychic blast with 5 natural damage, and all of the Jokers pack poison and outwit on the same click, so that could be pretty handy.

U Brainiac is an amazing piece from that set. That first click is worth the price of admission alone... Brainiac and a R Blackfire at 299 would be a dangerous team.

Cheetah is amazing for her points, as well. The E and the V are great figures to play.

Something to consider -- when we were playing Icons events, because of the point cost of the figures, we did 400 point events. This allowed you to have more than generally two figures on your team.

Im actually considering doing the same thing since they are so cheap and I don't have any figures from that set and it would help round out my Teen Titans teams.
