Monkeys VS. Dinosaurs What is your favorite?

With DC 75 out shortly we are getting some really fun figures to add to some already fun to play animal teams.

Out of Monkey teams and Dinosaur teams what is your favorite team to play?

I am rather connected to dinosaur teams because Devil Dinosaur and Moonboy is still one of my most favorite pieces. It might change after this set because we get a real Detective Chimp to play with.

What do you guys think?

Dunno the answer to why comic fans are in general, but I can tell you why DC is obsessed with them.

Back in the 60's, the editors of DC Comics discovered that for some strange and unusual reason, any time a monkey or ape was on the cover of the comic, it sold way better than the ones that didn't.

Thus why Flash has Gorilla City and Grodd and such.

Thus why Superman has Titano as a foe. (hey, where's his clix anyhow?!?!?!)

Batman even had a crime boss with a Gorilla body and human brain (ala Ultra Humanite).

And the Doom Patrol had the Brain and Monsieur Mallah.

And for DC, the theory stuck. They keep going back to it about once a decade: heck in the 70's they even did a one shot "Super Heroes vs. Super Gorilla's " comic book. Plus Kamandi had all kinds of talking dirty apes, lions, etc.

In the 80's they stuck Ultra Humanite into the body of an ape.

In the 90's they did an entire Annual storyline with JLApe.

In the 21st century, they slapped a talking monkey into Shadowpact.

As long as DC Fans keep feeding ape issues with higher sales, they're twisted logic is gonna keep doing it.

And if this set sells more, you can bet DC is gonna say "It's because of all the apes!!!" :)

You're right. But that's putting a monkey in a group called the Super-Apes. For some reason calling a monkey an ape doesn't bug me as much as calling an ape a monkey, probably because it doesn't happen quite as often since there are fewer monkeys than apes in Heroclix.

Someone call Stan Lee and tell him he was wrong 47 years ago when he put a babboon in a group and called them the Super Apes. Two Super Apes and a Super Monkey would have been a more accurate albeit unwieldy name. No, wait, the Super Primates would have been perfectly acceptable! Red Ghost and the Super Primates. There. I should totally have been in charge of comic books written the decade before I was born.

If only we could resolve the other eternal conflicts so easily. Ninja vs Pirate, Werewolf vs Vampire, Robots vs humans. Just imagine if they all laid aside their differences to work together. Then they could all team up and fight against Nazis!

As the veggie tales say " If it doesn't have a tail, it's not a monkey. Even if it has a monkey kind of shape." (As you can see, I have young kids that like those movies.)

That being said, I love monkey/ape teams. My favorite team ever was a "monkey" - robot team with multiple Gorillamans (Gorillamen?) and M-11s. Nothing better than a team full of AK-47 wielding simians and unstoppable metallic human analogues.

Only two of the simians included on the list are actually monkeys (Gleek and Igor); Moon Boy is proto-human, and the rest are apes. I prefer using the "Fur Force." ;)

I chose both, but really I prefer dinosaurs to monkeys. Should be possible to field a decent Dino team now that we have the Beast Boy T-rex. Although I do want a Stegron!
