Hey everyone,

So, it's been a long time since I've played Heroclix, but tonight I'm going to a nearby LGS to play my first tourney (since Origins) of three Sealed Tournaments I plan on attending. Since it's been so long, I was hoping some people could share some of their strategies they use in the Modern Day Sealed tournament, or good general strategies overall.

A few things I recall from the olden, golden days, that will probably always hold true.

1. Outwit is ALWAYS good to include in your build, in both Sealed and Constructed, probably more so in Sealed because taking out a few crucial powers in a 300 pt can really hurt your opponents strategies, especially if they have a large tentpole/powerhouse fig.

2. In addition to Outwit, Prob control and Perplex are great support/Control powers, especially if you don't happen to already have high stats, these can greatly increase your chance of landing successful hits.

3. Stealth characters are great for blocking line of sight to the rest of your team, assuming they're in hindering terrain and your other crucial characters are able to hide behind them.

4. TK is the new taxi.

Anyways, that's just got get the ball rolling. I would like any other thoughts or suggestions that you guys use when building your team, playing your team as well as specific strategies of how you might defeat certain other teams in this DC75 Sealed Format.

Also, in general, this set seems to be pretty balanced, power-wise. Not many characters are overwhelmingly OP or terribley weak. There are few that are exceptions, but when reading the dial reviews, most seem to be around 3-4 rating, which makes me feel the set is pretty balanced and more based on skill, than the luck of getting a really good pull (although I'm sure that factors in a bit).

What do you guys think?

I'm an aggressive player. I will gladly forfeit a character 1/4 of my build total as a decoy or sacrifice to get my opponent to do what I want them to do. If you think you can overcome it, throw some bait out there. If you have somebody that can do some hurting to their main attacker without relying on you key support piece, then throw the support piece out there for a turn and see what your opponent does. If they take the bait, then you can take your shot on their main attacker.

Here are some others:

-in sealed, don't be afraid to put your eggs in one basket (especially if it has move/attack options)
-don't overlook characters you normally wouldn't play
-click through your force a lot before you play. If you can learn their dials, the better chance you'll have

Dont ignore someone based on preferance is the best advice i can give. I never would have thought Johnny Quick would be so good in a sealed environment, but i had great luck with him today.

The three things I look for:
* Mobility - Taxis or TKers
* Support powers - particularly Outwit and Probability Control
* Attackers - preferably a mix of ranged and close combat fighters.

We had a booster draft 300 pt tourney last night at my LCS and I must say I really enjoyed my pulls. I ended winning a full 900 pts in the 3 games by using Saint Walker, WL Hal Jordan and Ice(which I also pulled Doomsday but no one to play with him). I have recently discovered the beauty of using barrier. Pretty much I would let Saint Walker and Hal hang out using SW's enhancement and just blast the first figure that came into my range for 4 with Hal. Then whenever I needed time to clear those guys I used Ice to place barriers. All in all it went pretty well playing a defensive game(it did grab the W). The only time I had to get really offensive was when Ice was KO'ed and Saint Walker had TK and his perplex powers and I was agaisnt a stealthed Green Arrow and a Hal Jordan(GL) with ESD. Just threw hal across the map to base with GA and perplexed his atk up around 13 and kill him off. Then repeat on GL.
