Energy explosion and defense value

When EE is used, defense value of target figure is modified by +1. But adjacent enemy figs ¿ Add +1 to his defense value if they´re in hindering terrain? (In this case there isn´t any line of fire to these fig´s).

Defence values aren't affected by EE but the damage caused is reduced to 1. Defence values are affected however by hindering terrain but only if the fig in hindering is targeted.
