starting to make trades across the border. live in u.s. what is the best mode of delivery to canada? i usually post first class w/ dc. i know that dc is not an option. what's the safest bet when shipping?
also, anything i should be aware of when i ship? any rules to follow for customs that i need to be aware of?

I used to ship using UPS but then a member told me that they now hold the package until the recipient pays a certain fee. Complete BS and it used to be the best way to send and have a DC#.
I have never tried fedex but it might be a feasible option.

Always mark gift! And never declare a dollar amount more than, say, twenty bucks. Down that road lies all manner of headaches for your trading partner.

i appreciate the response guys..anything else to contribute?
Just send with USPS marked as gift and don't list the value too high. Using UPS is a secure way but it is expensive and usually we canadians have to pay around $20-30 of tax upon receiving the package would would suck.

all my packages go to the states as;
Replacement boardgame piece w/ rules card
Gift
20 bucks declared
Its not that a tracking number is useless on a package coming from the states. just that they will only guarentee the shipment within the states. once it enters into customs its now in canadaposts hands, so ups washes their hands of it.
as for me, tracking here in canada works down in the states. or i can just expresspost it and it could bounce around 5 times to differant areas of the states, but at least i can tell where it is, and that its at your post office to be picked up. though its a tad costly for me. even normal shipping with a standard DC# costs me 3 times the cost of the same box coming back from the states. gotta love comunistpost.
oh, and in another note giving me a customs form # as a tracking number is useless. in no way can i use it to track a package. as im not even the original sender i cant even call ups and ask them to check into the validity of existance on it. just a thought i guess for any us friends who think that its usefull.
