Dumb question about Phasing between walls

Something a friend and I were mulling aroung with...
Say I have Doc Strange on one side of a black line (wall) and some jabroni on the other side. Could I attack through the wall, or would I have to phase in front of him?

IE:

D= Doc Strange (or other phaser)
T= Thug.

Would I need to get adjacent to Thug to attack, or could I attack through the wall? I mean in comic "physics" i'm sure a phaser like Kitty (AoA) could slice at someone through a wall....dumb question I know, but wouldn't that be an interesting attacK

Phasing only affects your movement; it doesn't give you the ability to attack through walls.

That'd be an interesting house rule, though.
