View Full Version : Heroclix Mafia 2: Mbauers vs The 30 Year-Old Virgin
Mbauers sat at his computer, perusing the Mafia Forum. "The Wire is awesome. Maybe I'll make a mafia game about it!"
He posted the thread, waiting for signups. Hems and haws, excuses, excuses, but he just couldn't get the signups. :disappointed:
"I've got it! Everybody loves Buffy! Let's do an Alternate Buffyverse Mafia! Surely people will signup for THAT!" He posted the thread, with the special bonus of Dbauers signing on as Co-Mod! But alas, not enough signups AGAIN. :cry:
"#### it, I'm going to play some clix."
Mbauers shut the computer off and started walking to his venue. The 12 year-old fat kid had been vanquished, and refused to show his face in MB's venue again, for fear of future embarrassment. "Just some nice, fun clix to pass the time."
As he walked across the threshold into the venue, his heart sank. His secondary nemesis, the Creepy, parents' basement-dwelling weirdo was back. He started to take out the Fat Kid's favorite figs--Skrullvell, Ult Thor, Lockjaw, Firelord. Just then, the man with the glasses stepped forward.
"Sorry 30 YOV, today is modern age. You'd know that if you were a regular instead of being a prize shark and coming twice a year. Good luck!"
With the modern age format, it looked like 30 YOV's cheese had been nerfed, but he would not be deterred. He was determined to make the game as least fun as possible as he reached for the newest figures.
Mbauers, on the other hand, tried to salvage the game for the growing crop of new players. He was confident that strategy can defeat power pieces any day of the week.
Let the tournament begin!
Mbauers is not dead, he's WeaponX56, local judge running the tournament. (What's up GEM comics in Elmhurst, IL!!! Come to the DC 75 sealed tourney on 12/18 at 11:00)
Rules for this game
1) This is a mafia game based on MODERN AGE Heroclix. If you roleclaim a retired character you will almost certainly be lynched.
2) When you vote, please do so by saying Vote: [Player] in bold. If you wish to change your vote, please say Change Vote: [Player] instead. Voting for 'Nobody' is a valid vote; if a majority votes for 'No Lynch' then nobody will be lynched and we'll move on to the Night phase.
3) If your role says you -may- PM me a target, you don't have to do anything at night. Even so, it'll speed things along quite a bit if you'd still just send me a PM saying "Not using my [whatever] power tonight, thanks."
4) If your role says you -must- PM me a target, and you do not? I'll pick one randomly. Or, perhaps, not-so-randomly. Don't blame me if you target someone who kills you.
5) You may NOT send a PM to anyone about this game unless your role explicitly says you can. This is cheating.
6) Do NOT edit your posts in this thread. This is cheating.
7) Please do not copy-and-paste anything from any PM I send you to the thread. This is also cheating.
8) Please do not post in this thread after you are killed. This, too, is cheating and can ruin the game if done wrong.
9) Cheaters don't get to play in any other Mafia games I run. Period.
10) Remember, it's just a game. You will get paranoid, you will be stabbed in the back by someone, you will see somebody do or say something stupid and want to smack them. Just breathe deep and relax. If things get out of hand, we do have a mod playing who will forcibly remind you to chill out if needed. It hasn't happened yet, and I'd like to keep it that way.

The annoying thing is: You can be Skrulvel and still be one of the good guys. We have no idea what figures would be on each team -- or even if it's a well-thought-out team. For all we know, the 30YOV could be playing a tentpole and two-man pit crew, or a five-man team.
Given the setup, we can probably assume (for now, at least) that there's no neutral parties -- it's not like this is a three-player game or anything. Unless the map is neutral, which would make an odd kind of sense, but I'm assuming we're all actual figures.
There were neutrals in the last game, so I wouldn't count them out.

Nah, these days we throw a lot of joke votes out and then accuse the people who are joke voting of being bloodthirsty and lynchable and then other people accuse those people of not being able to take a joke and say they should be lynched and we end day one with 6 different people having 1 or 2 votes on them.

Last game he considered SI Human Elektra, Ms. Skrullvell, R CT Invisible Woman and Lockjaw to be cheesy.
Look to figs with either extreme utility (think AA Question, SR Scarlet Witch, AE Jason Blood) for their cost, or have every power in the game or are just silly broken (Cosmic Spider-Man anyone?)

If there is only one mafia hit, I'd say that one of the first two write-ups is the mafia. The third one honestly looks like Iron Fist as a Vig. Then again, we don't know the mafia theme, so Iron Fist could be a bad guy.

With the modern age format, it looked like 30 YOV's cheese had been nerfed, but he would not be deterred. He was determined to make the game as least fun as possible as he reached for the newest figures.

Bullseye is cheesy, not uber-cheesy but enough to be annoying. And this is modern age as per the opening rules and write-ups, so Firelord and Ulty Thor won't show up I'm guessing.
Just to clarify, I was talking kill paragraphs in my analysis. Last paragraph looks Vig, 1st two are a toss up between maf and SK.

I never said I was the cop actually.
I'm given a power each night and last night it was to cop, but I never said I was the cop.
I wouldn't have given a name, but Immoral mentioned that the real cop should step forward and I didn't want that.
Then Kontrol did anyway, which was a stupid move as I NEVER claimed cop.
Coming out by saying I was Nico would mean I'd paint a big target on my back, so I decided to say that I simply copped MSU, and figured that would be it.
I can't choose what my powers are each night, I'm given then as the night appears, but I can do pretty much anything.
Also, I mentioned Immoral due to his outting of the cop and his lackluster add on to me.
Also Venom's reasoning was poor and just jumping onto the ship.
Wade said "well we need information" when we still had time for people to step forward.
Now we've essentially outted the tracker (Peers) the cop (Kontrol) and the inventor (Myself)
