Heroes for Hire #5: Siege

The injured, ragged, and time-lost group walked behind Dane, The Black Knight, for most of the day. It soon became clear to Danny that Luke needed to rest so he pulled Dane aside to request a place to camp for the night. Dane displayed his vast knowledge of the area by leading them strait to a hidden cave and mountain spring not far away. He didn’t seem happy about the delay, but realized that without a proper nights rest this group would be useless to him. Danny, Luke, and Jim gathered together around a hastily built fire while Dane disappeared into the wilderness to search for food. Luke laid down between a log and the fire and promptly fell asleep leaving Danny and Jim to wait.

Paladin and Shang cautiously approached the fire after they were sure that the unknown knight had been gone, moving silently next to Danny and Jim.

“What happened out there?” Paladin whispered to Danny.

Danny quickly explained the whole situation to the other heroes, who were relieved that for the moment they were safe.

“What are our options?” Shang stated plainly. “The way I see it, it appears we must help these knights defeat the invasion to protect history, but where does that leave us? Will we be stranded forever?”

“I’m not sure Shang,” replied Danny, “I think we just have to follow Dane and finish this, then we can look for a way home, if there is one.”

Dane returned shortly after and he didn’t seem too surprised to see Paladin and Shang and introductions were brief. He cleaned and cooked his small catch of rabbits and lizards and the exhausted group divided and ate the wild game in somber silence. They set aside food for Luke and set up a night watch. In the morning they would have clear heads and be rested and more prepared to face their situation.

The next morning, the group rose early and finished off the remaining meat. Luke grumbled something about pancakes and sausage, and New York pizza, but was the first to finish his food. Soon after breakfast Dane gathered the group together to explain where they were going.

“We have been fighting the Muslim forces for what seems like an eternity,” he began. “You probably remember the crusades from history, but the problem is, through all the fighting, this part of the country never fell to the Muslims. Soon after I arrived I realized where I was and whose body I possessed. I am currently serving under King Richard the Lionheart. I was on a scouting mission when I was chased and cornered by the invaders. If you hadn’t shown up when you did I’m not sure I would have survived, and for that I owe you my thanks and gratitude. As it stands, we will head for the Kings base camp to find what our next course of action will be.”

The heroes shrugged in acquiescence and formed up following Dane again. It took two days to reach the encampment of King Richard. They saw the smoke from many cook fires stretching up over the tree line about an hour before they straggled down into the mist covered valley. They made their way through the outer layers of the camp where many peasants were working to fuel the army in the center, some looking up with curious faces at the strangers. Luke couldn’t help thinking that the history books really didn’t tell the full tale of how poorly one man can treat another who is in servitude. As they approached the center ring, they were stopped by two fierce looking guards that were standing at the gate to the center of the camp. Dane approached the gate first.

“Welcome Sir Eobar,” challenged one of the guards.

“We approach seeking audience to King Richard the Lionheart!” Dane pronounced loudly.

“Who are these strangers with you sir?” demanded one of the guards.

“They are allies against our enemies and wish to speak with the king and offer their aid.” the Black Knight replied.

The guards sent a messenger into the camp who returned shortly with news that the king would see the visitors. They were given an escort of armed guards to the kings tent, entering a few minutes later. The tent was buzzing with activity. Paige’s were scurrying about carrying paperwork here and there and military advisers were pouring over maps and charts spread on the table in the middle. Soon, the king moved away from the war plans and motioned them forward.

“Who are these men who are dressed so strangely?” the king asked Dane.

“Sire, these are friends and allies from a far away land. They have fought bravely and against many dangers to come to our aid in this, the time of our greatest need.” Dane replied.

King Richard looked at the heroes, then back to Dane. He paused, thinking, and finally reached a decision.

“Sir Eobar, the Black Knight, has served me faithfully these past years. His advice and opinion have come to be greatly valued by myself and my kingdom. I will accept the pledges of these men, they must be great warriors to have already gained the trust of Sir Eobar.”

The king lead the men to the war table and began filling them in on upcoming battle plans.

“We have received information that the leader of the Muslim army, Saladin, is currently in this abandoned fortress.” he began pointing at the map lying in the center of the table. “I have been devising a battle strategy to attack the fortress. If we can manage to strike down the leader of these invaders, we will certainly be in position to win this war.”

“Your highness,” started a man in earthy garb, “As you know I, Amergin the Druid, your most trusted mystical counsel, am against this course of action. Not only does your enemy hold a better defensible position, but I have been reading the signs of the forest and stars, and they tell me something is terribly wrong.”

“I have heard your protest Amergin, but again, I must follow the path that gives us the best chance at victory. We must strike at our enemy now, fast, and with all our might. It is our best hope.” King Richard commanded. “We will move into position this afternoon, and on the morrow, we attack!”

Amergin sighed in resignation and looked up at the heroes. He motioned them to follow him outside as the king resumed pouring over maps and books.

Danny, Luke, Jim, Shang, and Paladin followed the druid outside. Amergin turned to them.

“Your presence here is wrong. I have read that in your faces, and in the stars. You do not belong. However, I also believe that you will be able to help. There are many strange things happening here that are beyond the kings control, things of a mystical nature. Perhaps you are here for that reason.” Amergin quickly turned and disappeared back to his tent.

The heroes for hire were given a small tent to rest in as guests of Sir Eobar, and were treated to what was the best meal they have eaten since arriving in this time. Danny was apprehensive about the upcoming battle, remembering how fiercely the battle had been just a few days ago. He worried about his men and especially Luke. Luke was a New Yorker at heart, born and bred, and Danny didn’t know if he would be able to handle the strain of living so far in the past, should they be stranded here forever. They had to find a way home.

After their noon meal was finished they were summoned to the king. The army was ready to move and did so without delay. They marched until evening down the valley and set up camp just out of site of where the fortress was located on the map. After a restless night and early wake up in the morning, too early Luke’s taste, they were given a quick meal of gruel and moved the last few miles to the fortress. King Richard stopped the army just before they broke through the tree line and the fortress was visible.

“Today is the day of our victory!” he shouted to the men. His speech was long and inspiring, but will not be retold here today.

Finally, the time to strike was upon them. The army charged through the trees with King Richard leading and the Heroes for Hire following closely behind. Seeing the Fantastic Four would have been less of a surprise than what they saw. Not only were there Muslim soldiers defending the fortress, but also large rock like creatures. Danny saw the rock monsters and knew immediately that something was terribly wrong. He turned to Luke and Paladin.

“Luke, we need to find another way around or into this fortress.” Danny said, “you and Paladin need to scout the area, leave the fighting to us.”

“You need us here!” Luke replied.

“No Luke, listen, we need your strength and Paladins tactical prowess to find another way in there. The battle won’t be won here on this field!” Danny demanded. “Those creatures are unnatural and we need to find out what is happening here!”

Luke glared back at his friend. He knew he wasn’t the best at planning battle strategy, but he also trusted his friend. “Good luck Dan the man!” Luke said clapping Iron Fist on the back. He and Paladin quickly disappeared back into the trees.

Danny charged forward. “Heroes to Hire, time to go to work!” he shouted.

Special Rules:
- King Richard is an important historical figure, so protect him! If King Richard is KO'ed, you lose 4 TXP. However, if you are able to get King Richard into the indoor section of the map before the end of the match, you score 4 bonus TXP, and a surviving friendly character of your choice is officially knighted.
- The rock golems are magical beings animated by the wizardry of the Ahl-i-Batin. If the Magus is KO'ed, any Rock Golems on the board are immediately dealt 2 unpreventable clicks of damage.

yes, that's the right map.

And the Crusade TA is unfortunately almost useless: you cause knockback any time you roll doubles, even if the attack misses (except a critical miss).

I'm sticking with 2 lights, I don't need his rock trolls having any extra large boulders out there.

Danny watched his friend (and Paladin) disappeared into the forest. The low hanging mist clung around the gathered soldiers knees, making them appear as if they were floating just above an ever drifting grey sea. King Richard was shouting commands. Suddenly, as if a dam burst, soldiers were charging the ruined castle. Flanks of soldiers moved left and right around the edges of the battlements, their sounds slowly muffled as they moved from sight. There were few men left gathered around the small group guarding the king when Danny caught site of some unnerving movement just behind the castle walls. He wasn’t sure what he had seen at first, and thought his eyes were playing tricks on him, feeding off the adrenaline of the battle. He squinted his eyes and saw it again. It looked like a huge boulder, moving from left to right and bobbing up and down just over the top of the walls. He knew the sorcerer inside was planning something, that had to be one of the giant rock trolls they had witnessed earlier.
“Get ready guys, those rock monsters are up to something,” Fist said.
The King had seen the action inside the walls as well, his piercing eyes missed nothing. We need to get a defense on that moat so nothing can escape!” he commanded. Before he could finish his orders, Jim had burst into flame, grabbing the King and flying off through the field to some overgrown shrubs just outside the gate. He let the flames die down and put the King next to him under complete cover. Richards eyes were wide with wonderment, but he quickly snapped back into the imperial presence that everyone knew.

“You have go warn me next time you wish to use your magics to transport me wizard!” he said to Jim.

“Very sorry, ummm, sire,” stammered Torch, “I sometimes act before to quickly for others, I thought you might want a better vantage point to oversee the action. They may see me from here, but you will remain protected. It won’t happen again…..sire.”

Richard seemed appeased, or at least had become more intent on the battle again. He said nothing, but started staring ahead intently.

Iron Fist chuckled to himself as he watched Jim burn a trail through the mist, the flailing legs of Richard in tow, wondering what the king would think of his sudden trip. Dane growled and pointed at one of the nearby guards,

“You, to me NOW!” he ordered.

The pikeman moved quickly to his giant black stallion, clutching forearms with the Black Knight, and was swung up behind in a single fluid motion. They charged after Richard, Dane muttering under his breath. One remaining pikeman also set out after his king, following the others.

“We need to stay sharp and see how this will play out,” Iron Fist whispered to Shang.

“I agree,” was the tight lipped reply.

Magus stated, "Morda Collra Dormaa." The large rock golems both came to life and put their arms down on the ground with their palm open beckoning their Saracen allies to climb onboard. Both Hagi and Ori climbed aboard their Rocky mounts, and after being escorted outside were dropped on the ground. Magus then turned himself into a gas and used the wind to fly through the walls on the ancient hut and turned solid once again when he reached the outside.


Actions:
1) Rock Golem #2 picks up Ori eh Zon and moves to k16 picking up the Heavy Object and then moves to G12 dropping Ori at H12
2) Rock Golem #1 picks up Hagi al bul and moves to K16 picking up the Statue and moves to G14 dropping Hagi at H15

couple of mistakes there Eagletsi:
1) Elite Saracens start with Battle Fury. They cannot be carried.
2) When carrying a character, both characters have to end on the same elevation.

Danny watched the Torch carry off King Richard in a flame. He shared a quick amused glance with Shang and they both started off towards the castle wall. Leaping gracefully over the moat they moved in unison up the side of the castle wall as if they were moving across flat ground. They reached the top of the escarpment and paused to view the scene below. They could see the towering Rock Trolls, one had moved to the top of the opposite wall near the gate. They second Troll was only visible from his shoulders up and it looked like he was moving to block the entrance to the castle. Danny saw over the castle grounds, walls in various states of decay. Behind one wall was a man dressed in robes. He was chanting and waving his hands back and forth, concentrating hard.
“Shang, that must be the magician!”
“Yes, let us drop in and say hi!”

The two danced down the inside of the castle walls and crept their way up right next to the sorcerer….

2A:

Saracens Turn 2B:

Story:
"Your master needs your help! Come to my aid you fools!", Ahl-I-Batin Magus yelled. Both Hagi and Ori ran to his aid, Ori picked up a small boulder on his way both of them stopped next to the intruders threatening their Master. Magus chanted some words "Bordi, Malla, Torma!" and turned himself into a etheral form and moved back out of danger, suddenly a large smoke cloud appeared enveloping both Hagi and ori. Ori's small rock suddenly transformed itself into a large Anvil while his rock appeared outside the castle in Anvils place before their eyes, stunning the Invading force.


Actions:
1) Ori eh Zon moves to N14 and picks up Light object, then moves to P11
2) Hagi Al Bul moves to M10
3) Ahl-i-Batin Magus pushes and phases moving to M13. Then uses Flashbang to place smoke in P11, O11, N11, M11. Then Uses special power to exchange heavy object in b16 with Light object being carried by Saracen #2 in P11. Takes a click for the push

As there is a wall between M-10 and N-10, I moved your Smoke Cloud to P-10 for now, you can move it elsewhere if you want, but I think it drops on your next move anyway.

Shang and Danny watched in dismay as the sorcerer dissipated right before their eyes. One of the fanatics appeared from around the corner right next to Shang. He dropped into a quick heel spin knocking the man off balance and followed with a short fierce jab to the nose. The man was knocked out cold, but Shang came up from the exchange limping. He gave the thumbs up sign to Danny who was listening intently to any sound that might appear from around the corner.
King Richard looked in awe as the two giant Rock Golems moved their way towards the drawbridge. He strode from his cover and moved past Torch next to Sir Eobar.
“How can we hope to defeat these creatures?” he asked.
Just as he was talking to his trusted advisor, Jims body covered itself in flames. He flew out from their concealment to the other side of the drawbridge, focusing his energy and sent a plasma hot jet of fire directly into the chest of the huge monster. The strike hit, damaging the giant and melting a hole across his chest. The monster shrugged, and looked around, trying to find the source of his discomfort.

3A:

4) Black Knight grabs King Richard, uses transporter move and attack to destroy LO in C-12 and ends in B-13/B-14, King Richard in B-15.

Saracen Turn 4B:

Magus moves behind the Large Boiling Pot, then chants "Ekka, Morto, Bellah, Zorto" The large Rock Golem that moved forward next to the Flaming man hauled back and smashed his hand down on the Black Knight behind the Flaming man. It was a thunderous blow, and the whole ground rattled and cracked, King Richard was protected by both of his pikeman as they blocked the schrapnel with their bodies giving their lives to protect the king. Both the Black Knight and Flaming one were also hit by the schrapnel, but they fared better.

Just then the Rock Golem on top of the castle wall, heaved his statue towards the Black Knight, and it struck both him and his horse, knocking him to the ground and sending the horse running away. Magus yelled "You dare test yourself again me King Richard! You have just seen the Tip of my power and now you will pay with your life!!!"


1) Magus moves to G12
2) Rock Golem #1 pushes and uses Quake with Black Knight as target. Att 8 vs DF 15 needs a 7+. Rolls a (6,4)=10 and Hits, Human Torch, Black Knight, King Richard, Pikeman 1 and Pikeman2.
Black Knight Takes 2-1(tough)=1 click, Human Torch takes 2 clicks, King Richard takes 2 which is masterminded to Pikeman 1. So Pike man 1 takes 2+2=4 total, Pikeman 2 takes 2 clicks total. Rock Golem takes a click for the push. No knockback because everyone is knocked into someone else.
3) Rock Golem #2 pushes and throws his Statue at Black Knight. Att 9 vs DF=14+2(esd)=16 needs a 7+. Rolls a (3,3)=6. PC roll from Magus (5,5)=10 hits. Black Knight takes 2 clicks. Rock Golem takes a click for the push.

Richard and the heroes were stunned by the attack. Quickly Jim grabbed hold of the king and burst away from the giant golem, flying up and over the walls landing in the dirty knee deep water of the moat. He shoved King Richard into the bushes again to keep him hidden and glared back toward the corner of the wall.
The Black Knight was only stunned for a few seconds. He shook the cobwebs from his head and headed around the castle toward the direction he had seen Jim fly off with his king.

Magus continues to laugh as he watches his enemy retreat. He suddenly stops laughing, and thinks to himself. Could Richard know of the secret entrance on the far side of the Castle? He chants "Begga, Mella, tona". Both Rock Creatures head to the small hut inside the castle just incase. While he also moves up to protect them with his magic.

Danny and Shang had made their way into the small hovel in the corner of the courtyard, but before they had begun their search for intel, one of the Rock Golems had crashed his way into their midst. Another of the sorcerers followers had come charging through the doorway screaming “allaa lalalalalala” . The warrior known as Hagi was right in front of Iron Fist, holding a large piece of rock high above his head. Fist jumped back, and lept over his head doing a full back summersault, landing on his feet and running. Shang used Iron Fists distraction to move his way around the edges of the room and back out the low doorway. The two regrouped in the courtyard next to a crumbling wall trying to decide their next move.

King Richard must really be shaken, that's 3 turns in a row on leadership.


Magus chants "Switcha, Rohoa, Dohhoa". Both Rock Golems walk past each other, Rock Golem #1 moves through the hut and the secret entrance in the castle sploshing threw the moat, water spraying everywhere and stopping next to the Human Torch, while Rock Golem #2 moves through the hut and stops next to Iron Fist. Magnus then moves inside the hut for safety. Magus Yells "Richard, it is only a Matter of time before my constructs take you down. Give up now and your death will be quick and painless!!!"

Black Knight watched in dismay as the rock golem came crashing across the water towards Torch. He knew that the King would be close to him. Bleeding and broken, he mustered the energy to run across the field in front of him, hoping against hope to cause some minor distraction allowing his Jim to get away again. He ran right up to the monster yelling as loud as he could. It worked, the giant stopped for an instant and turned towards the tiny voice at his feet.

Again, right in front of him, Jim was under pressure from one of these giant rock monsters. They were relentless. He used Black Knights distraction to grab hold of the king again and sped off onto the top of the nearby parapets.

9A:

Saracen Turn 9B:


I PC rerolled your breakaway and got a 4, so everything stands from last turn.


With the brave Black Knight as a distraction, the Human Torch attempted to breakaway from the Rock Golem, but Magus held him in place with some magic spell. The Black Knight saw that Magus was maintainign the spell to keep the Human Torch trapped and used his Sword to reflect the sunlight into the eyes of Magus who was blinded for just a moment which broke his concentration on the spell. In that moment the Human Torch scooped up the King and flew to safety. Magus cursed him for the Flash, which cost Magus a chance to use his Magics.
Hagi ran out fo the building and next to Shang Chi preparing for a strike.

I'm glad you hit that roll, I had checked my pm first and the first thing I did was roll, wouldn't you know it, another 6. Phew, got lucky again.

Sir Eobar, Dane, watched as Jim carried his King to safety, landing on top of the castle wall. He grimaced in pain and struggled to his feet.
“Now monster, you shall feel the depth of the blade of the Black Knight,” he shouted.
The swing from his sword was a mighty blow and struck deep into the golems thigh, but then he felt a shift. He could feel the magic, like electricity moving through the air moving him back in time, not far, just a few seconds. The monster was uninjured and Dane watched as Jim landed again on top of the castle wall.
“You shall not evade me that easily sorcerer!” he yelled loudly back into the depths of the castle.
He knew the sorcerer had shifted him back in time to try and give his monster a chance to avoid the righteous blow from his deadly blade, but it would not be enough. He drew back his sword arm again and slammed it into the rock golem once more. The sword buried itself up to it’s hilt in the monsters leg. Dane looked up in satisfaction just as the magic that was animating the monster struck back. An invisible force struck back from the giant, slamming into Danes chest and throwing him back into the bushes unconscious.

“Try to avoid damaging the giants with normal weapons!” shouted Jim to Shang. “They strike back.”
Shang didn’t hear the advice as Hagi had come out from the building again still screaming “alla lalalallalala”. Shang waited for him to make his approach, then he dropped down sweeping the mans leg out and forcing him to drop his boulder onto his foot. In one fluid continuous motion he set himself up perfectly for his next planned strike, a flying knee that connected with precision to the mans head, knocking him down into the mud. Shang put his foot on the mans head shoving hard until it was half buried in the mud. He then turned his attention the looming “elephant in the room” rock golem towering above him.
“Well monster,” he grinned, “let us now witness your skill...”

Saracen Turn 10B:

Your right about the team ability Wildcard to Mystics. Nice heroic way to go out with Black Knight. What browser are you using? I have not had any issues with the new map program at all.

Magus watched his Elite Warrior go down to Shang Chi through the eye of the rock golem nearby. He moved inside the tent to get out of the Torches sight and so he could use his magic to take down this nuisance.
The Rock Golem next to Shang-Chi swung his massive arm towards Shang. He leaped in the air and completed a back flip landing in a perfect stance. Even Magus was impressed with Shang-Chi's skill. The Other Rock Golem moved back inside the hut protecting it's entrance.

Thanks, I knew I had to push Black Knight to even have a chance at exp this game. Not sure what computer program I'm using, I'm computer illiterate.


“Whatever is going on here, the answers can be found in that room!” Richard said to Torch. “Get me in there soldier.”
Jim once again took hold of the king and flew him down off the wall, past the towering golem and landing in some rubble. He put the king down again, in safety of cover and called back to Iron Fist.
“Danny, follow us, we have the sorcerer cornered!” he shouted.
Iron Fist saw Shang dancing with the monster in the courtyard. He hated to leave him alone, but upon hearing they might have a bead on the mastermind to this battle, he leapt into action. Danny charged through the door and strait into the waiting clutches of the injured rock golem. Gathering his chi, Danny focused all his energy into his namesake, the deadly iron fist. He jumped, bounding off the golems knee, grabbing hold of a rock near the midsection, and finally swinging high in the air, flipping upside down and pushing off the ceiling strait down, slamming his glowing fist strait into the monsters chest. The rock golem shuddered as cracks appeared from the blow, slowly spreading throughout his body. With one last groan, the monster shuddered and blew apart into thousands of pieces. As before with the Black Knight, the feedback was powerful, striking Danny hard but causing only minor injuries. He grinned with satisfaction and turned his attention back to the sorcerer who was still chanting in the corner.

Great Move with the king block my lOS for PC.

Saracen Turn 11B:

Magus sees his Rock Golem protector go down to the Infidels. He focuses on the man fighting his other one. As the Rock Golem swings it's mighty fist, the man attempts to leap into the air avoiding the attack, but Magus used his magic to
hold this man in place. The Rock Golem's fist slammed into the man sending him flying backward into the wall behind. Magus then chanted "Boo, Boo, Gadoo". He turned into his ghost form and flew out the door evading the Infidels. He stopped next to the large boiling pot, he touched it with his hand and absorbed it into his body. Amazingly scratches and injuries on his body healed and he appeared as if uninjured.
Magus yelled "Richard you may have gotten inside of the castle, but that is just a small victory, you still have to deal with my other creation and my Magic! Muhaaaaaa"

King Richard watched as the last remaining rock golem moved across the doorway. Then he saw a cloud of smoke drifted across the mud towards the doorway and he knew the sorcerer was near.
“You,” he commanded, “Master of the element of fire, you must attack that monster while the opportunity has presented itself.”
Jim knew the ramifications of attacking these monsters head on, he would have preferred to focus on the sorcerer. But since the magician kept vaporizing into smoke, Jim knew he would be too difficult to track down. He focused his attention on the rock monster he could see standing just outside the doorway. He knew there must be some place on the body where he could attack and cause a significant amount of damage. There! Just above the midsection was a crack in the joined rocks that ran much deeper than the rest. He gathered the flame to his body and fired a focused burst of flame that hit with deadly precision, striking the monster and sending a burst of flames around his upper torso. The creature staggered, dropping the barrel and clutching at the rock fragments that were falling from its body. Torch could see the magic gathering around the golem, barely perceptible in the air, as it lashed back towards him. He knew there was no way to avoid the retaliation. He grimaced and held his ground as the invisible force struck him in the chest.
King Richard clapped Torch on the back in congratulations and moved to get a better view of his enemy.

PC requires LOF to the target who is making the roll, so if King Richard is in hindering terrain and has stealth, you cannot use PC on his attack or breakaway.

That being said, I really hope King Richard decides to stick his sword in the Magus himself.

15A: story post
Human Torch wondered if the connection between sorcerer and rock golem was getting weaker. The golem just stood there clutching at his ever crumbling body. He was aware of the ramifications of attacking this monster directly and so soon, and he knew what happened when he pushed the flame too far. It was worth the risk. Focusing his energy again, he sent out another blast directly at the only area of the giant he could see, the midsection. The rock golem just wasn’t strong enough to handle another attack as the flame blasted strait through his middle splitting him in two. Slowly, the top half of the monster slide down and forward crashing to the ground while the legs stayed eerily where they stood. Strained from using his power to its limit, Torch sank to one knee and grimaced as the invisible magic force once more slammed into his body.


16A: story post
Shang leapt quietly from his perch on top of the castle wall and dashed across the courtyard where he had just seen a cloud of smoke drift through the doorway. It must be the sorcerer, and Shang wanted to be ready in case the magician tried to escape.
A swirl of smoke drifted into existence directly next to King Richard, indicating the appearance of the sorcerer. The king issued no orders, instead he relied on years of training and fighting. His elbow swung back connecting with Ahl-i-Batins’ head. A loud crack was followed by a flow of blood from under the sorcerers hood. Richard had seen the effects of physical attacks on the sorcerer and his magical creatures, but his rage protected him from the pain and he took the retaliation stoically.


16A:
Free: Leadership roll is 1, inhaling the smoke from a transporting sorcerer really throws one off his game.
1) Shang will leap climb his way with willpower to N-13.
2) King Richard will attack Sargon, not with blades, AV 9 vs. DV 16, roll is 4,6=10 for 3, Richard takes 1 feedback from the mystics and 1 from pushing.

In case you guys are wondering why I didn't roll blades, after my post I rolled just to see what I would have gotten and it was a 1, reminding me why I don't roll blades unless I have a 2 or less damage.

16B: story post

Magus Laughs, "Do you think I have not battled in close combat before before? I will take you down, if you are brave enough to fight me one on one!" Magus makes a sword out of the air, and focuses all his remaining magic energy into the blade, then slashes across Richards chest. The sword slices through Richards armour which falls to the ground in two pieces. Richard is badly hurt and falls to one knee, but regains his feet sword at the ready.


Free) Magus Perplexes his Damage +1.
1) Magus pushes to Close Combat Attack Richard. Att 10 vs DF15 needs a 5+. Rolls a (6,5)=11 and hits. Richard takes 2+1(Perplex)=3 clicks. Magus takes 1 for the push.

Good game, thanks for picking this up. King Richard has Super Senses that last attack, but I knew unless you hit a crit hit, it wouldn't matter. Thanks again!

Just noticed that your math for the TXP is out still. The 233 divided by 4 for KOs results in how much TAP you earn....not how much TXP. So essentially you divide it by 4 twice to get the TXP from KOs.

I,m also not sure where the [32,3] TXP came from. I assume that's meant to be from the individual TXP that was earnt, but that adds up to [11,0] to me: [2,0] + [2,0] + [3,2] + [0,2] + [3,0] = [11,0]

It should look like this:

TXP: 96+96+19+19+3=233/4=[14,2]+[11,0] +[4,0] bonus TXP=[29,2] + [154,0] = [183,2] TXP

I could tell something was wrong, because it's usually a good effort to get more than 30 TXP per issue. It shouldn't really be possible to get over 60, and you were earning over 90. ;)

I'm the same. I hate the blades/3 damage combo, and will only roll it if I need a hail mary. I'll consider it if I had PC for it though.

It was like watching a slow motion video. Danny watched as the Sorcerer struck the King, knowing he couldn’t get there in time to prevent the attack. King Richard fell to one knee, propping himself up with his sword and took some slow painful breathes. Torch, Fist, and Shang quickly charged forward surrounding the king, at the same time trapping Ahl-i-Batin in the corner of the small room.

The magician grinned wildly at the group and shrieked, “fools, you will never stop me!“ He whispered a quick incantation.

“He’s trying to escape!“ yelled Shang. He leapt across the short gap between them, but crashed straight into the wall as Magus disappeared into a cloud of drifting smoke.

Sounds from the battle going on outside the walls started to die down as Richard struggled to his feet, scowling.

“We must give chase,” Richard said, “kneel Danny Rand.”

Iron fist glanced at his comrades in confusion. They just shrugged, as confused as he was. Iron Fist dropped to one knee.

“In recognition of your loyalty, bravery, leadership, and honor, I now Knight thee.” The king lightly tapped the tip of his sword on each of Danny’s shoulders. “Rise, Sir Daniel Rand.”

Jim looked shocked and Shang just gave a quiet chuckle at this turn of events. No matter what happened, Iron Fist always seemed to find himself in the spotlight.

“Will you give chase to the evil doer?” Richard asked. “He must not get away to create more havoc. He must be stopped!”

These men of honor knew what they must do, the Sorcerer, Ahl-i-Batin must be stopped in order to protect this past, as well as their future.
