Alright, folks, Recreational Gaming Community is having a Game Day May 3 in Arlington. Last Game Day, we only had 4 people show up to play. In an effort to get more participation, I'm trying to get one of the sponsors to go in for a sealed Xplosion! case, to open from the bottom for a sealed booster tournament. Do any of you think you'd be more likely to particiapte, if we succesfully set this up?

Thanks for your time.

I don't want to look at this thread.... nope... not looking...

Hope we do get more people this time.

Though I'm not sure anyone in Texas can beat me in Heroclix.

(Disclaimer: The previous statement was an explicit boasting of my Heroclix playing ability. It does not, in any way, reflect the presiding Judge's views. This statement was made in a veign effort to attack other Dallas/Ft. Worth people's pride in their playing Heroclix and make them feel that they should come down and play to support this great Gaming Community. Besides, what other convention type atmosphere allows you to drink some Beers -for those of you that have a valid DLs and are over 21- while playing games?)

Don't make me come up from Austin and punk ya. :)

I'd be more likely to come.

If I lived closer to Texas than NY.

And if I didn't have a personal ban on ever going to Texas again.

;)

If you are able to pull off the xplosion case I will be there.

Seriously, this is a fun time with a fun group. It's fairly cheap and there are a slew of games to be played.

No Illumiati:NWO though :(

rotru
03/05/2003, 13:06
No INWO? Why not? I thought Texas was Steve Jackson Games country.

Tsannik
03/05/2003, 13:12
Well, the actual box games was scheduled, but no one signed up... there were other games that must have been more interesting...

I don't even know if anyone plays the CCG INWO anymore.

I hear that...
But it was fun while it lasted. For me, at least.

That's okay, my budget can only handle one collectible game at a time.

I appreciate the vocal support of such a Realms luminary!

Melk, please share! Why do you have a personal ban? Sounds like an interesting story to me.

Tsannik and rotru: The guy who's primarily responsible for Steve Jackson Games events wasn't able to attend the last Game Day. I'd say log on to RGC's site and put the request in.

$6 for as many games as you can squeeze in. Beer, food, tips, physical abuse from the wait staff not included in the base fee.

Tsannik
03/05/2003, 13:24
Physical abuse?

She *liked* me.... I think she secretly *wanted* me to smack her on the bottom........

in an alternate universe where such unlikely things always happen.

Tsannik
03/05/2003, 13:54
Well, we do play Heroclix...which happens in a universe where such unlikely things always happen....almost like a Bizarro world.

Come to think of it, I think the Heroclix figures helped out ALOT. Make a man look more sexy when playing Heroclix.

Yeah.... ::dreaming of Beers, Heroclix and women... though one of these doesn't seem to belong::

It's like going to an all weekend (or four day) con. Someone once said: "Eat, sleep, game. Pick two."

Recreational Gaming Community is having a Game Day May 3 in Arlington...as for the exact time? Since Oldguynewbie is running it...you know I'm not sure what time he has scheduled

Oldguynewbie
03/05/2003, 14:17
Earlier if we have many expressing interest (more rounds needed), later if we have fewer. But, again, it's an all day event for multiple game systems, so plan to make the most of your $6 and stay all day.

Then it won't matter when we start, right? (j/k)

Oldguynewbie

J. Gilligan's, just off Abrams in Central Arlington.

Xavier PhD
03/06/2003, 10:01
ahh by UTA, that really is close to my ol' stompin grounds... hmmm i'll have to see if i can check this out... what are the rules for the tournament?

point build? mixed or no? house rules? entry fee? and what is the prize?

Tsannik
03/06/2003, 10:07
Rules.....

yeah... when the UTA hotties are around... act as cool as possible...they are all there to see me probably.....

The only entry fee will be the price of admission $6 to the game day itself....

I think oldguynewbie was planning on having a sealed booster Xplosion tourney... to keep things a little 'fair'.

I'm sure he'll pop in...in order to give more accurate information.....

mmmm... UTA hotties....

Xavier PhD
03/06/2003, 10:37
ummm hotties? ummmmm are you thinking about the same UTA i'm thinking about?!

Tsannik
03/06/2003, 10:43
Hey.... when I went to the last Game Day... after all the nerdy festivities were over... the college crowd started coming in....

I dunno about you.... but some of those women were hawt!

Xavier PhD
03/06/2003, 10:49
haha how old are you tsannik? around the metroplex i'd have to say TCU and SMU make UTA look like a weight watchers "before" segment!!

:p

haha ut maybe things have changed since i've last been there.

Tsannik
03/06/2003, 10:51
I'm.... 30....

But I try and pass myself off as being 25/26.

Maybe they aren't actually UTA crowd, but they are definetly a 21-26 crowd.

BTW... the girls like the Heroclix... they love it.

Xavier PhD
03/06/2003, 10:54
haha thats why! i understand now... when i'm 30 i'll be all over the 21 year olds too...

don't be like r kelly... he took it a lil too far!

Tsannik
03/06/2003, 10:57
I'm not ALL over... I'm...

They like me..... kds

yeah.. I'm pathetic.....

lol

Besides, in the Bible belt... it's hard to find women who haven't already been married twice and have 16 kids....

How did I dig this grave?

Point build: 200 pts (2 boosters, at least if we manage to do this sealed case thing). No house rules, straight rule book/faq/tournament rule set as it appears at WK site. Entry fee: $6 at the door to play all the games you can get into for the whole day (come early), plus the cost of boosters (again, assuming we get this done). Prize support will be standard WK prize kit (hopefully, Xplosion LEs by then).

Post any more questions you have.

Um, does anyone know when this thread was moved? I didn't put it in Tournaments and Events, because I wanted everyone (not just judges) to be able to respond. Can they do that here? Help from a moderator is requested.

Well if it regular users cannot post to this thread... thenit was done sometime after Xavier's last post.

I'm hoping he'll drop back in, post again and prove me wrong.

Well, I don't think I've had put it that way.

My credentials:

undergrad @ UTA
grad @ TCU (MBA program filled with sorority girls from SMU and TCU)

I'm forty and happily married, but my eyes still work.

My opinion:

UTA coeds are hot (most of them are from TX, after all).

TCU/SMU coeds are hotter (money helps).

One post at a time....

BTW, you do look younger than 30, as opposed to me, looking older than 40.

You should try to get Animal to come.

Now that is funny!!

People under 21 are still allowed in, you just won't be able to order any alcoholic beverages.

This venue is actually a real bar. So, they'll have a real bartender checking IDs.

Not yet, since it's a June event now. However, on another subject, we will be having a sealed event from a "fresh" case of Xplosion. So, everyone come and try to fill out your uniques.

T, what's your status re: being there?

Oldguynewbie
05/21/2003, 16:07
A 300 pt, 3-booster sealed booster event from a "fresh" case of Xplosion. $6 @ the door, plus the cost of boosters. The $6 gets you into any games you can find, as well.
good times and good folks, so come on out.

June 7

Three of us will be there for the sealed booster tourney and the sealed booster beer.

If we can round up some more, we'll drag them along too.

OK, guys, it's this weekend!! Let's get as many players as possible (well, I guess it's limited to 16, since we've only got one case, j/k). Hope to see YOU there!

06/03/2003, 00:45
Is there going to be prize support for the Hero Clix game(s)?

Oldguynewbie
06/03/2003, 14:58
I haven't seen it yet, but the organizer has told me it has arrived. I can't be certain, but all the other prize packs I've seen this month have been Xplosion, so, hopefully this one will be as well.

who came out to the event and made it a success. Much strong play and much good Fellowship was observed. Hopefully, all those who attended will recruit friends to make the event bigger and better in Sept.

Again, thanks to all.
