Last Updated: December 7, 2011, with LOTR LEs and the last chase

The goal: To collect all the actual information we have for all HeroClix-related releases in 2011 that aren't large enough or sufficiently detailed (yet) to deserve their own The Evidence thread, and to provide links to the places we got that information from. This post will be updated when more information appears.

See The Evidence: Index (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?p=5403563#post5403563) for threads on products not covered here.

This thread is sorted in release date order, where known.

Lord of the Rings

There will two different games produced based on the Lord of the Rings properties. One game will be a HeroClix compatible mini-set. The other will be a co-op game. For information on the non-HeroClix game, see The Evidence: Non-HeroClix releases (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?t=302125).

The HeroClix release will come in traditional booster format, as well as a "all-in-one campaign style box". The campaign box will feature a price point similar to the Watchmen box set. There will also be a smaller starter. (The campaign box, as a "all-in-one" product, has not been mentioned in a very long time, and is not currently on any release schedule. It seems likely that this product has been canceled.)

The campaign box will (was to?) include "everything a player needs", including "new epic rules" and maps.

There will be 21 figures in the booster set.

There will be two table-top displays in a case.

This product is scheduled for December 7.

The counter top display unit for the boosters will have 24 single-figure boosters in it.

The sculpts are based on the movies.

Figures are designed to work both in small-scale combats (such as the fight on Weathertop) and in mass combat.

Confirmed figures include the following. Some of these figures may be from the starter and not the main set.

Epic Rules:

An epic game is one with a build total between 400 and 1000 points.

Players in an epic game can give characters epic actions. You have one epic action per turn.

Epic abilities are abilities that require epic actions to use. They are marked by an icon that looks like a book.

Epic actions cannot be used to trigger normal abilities.

Horde Tokens:

Horde tokens are similar to bystander tokens.

Horde tokens can be stacked. Individual tokens can be stacked and unstacked during combat.

Stacked tokens act as though they have multiple clicks (all with the identical values).

Horde tokens can have horde abilities, essentially special powers that scale up with the size of the stack. (Unclear is whether they can be used when the figure is a "stack" of 1 or not. Presumably, this are represented on the face by the "white" special powers, but, again, this is not made clear.)

In epic games, you can return defeated horde tokens to the battlefield as "calling up reinforcements", in some way proportional to the build total.

If your force is reduced to the point where it contains nothing but horde tokens, it is defeated.

Horde tokens have a "M=" followed by a number on the front of their disk. What this means has not been made clear. (Obvious speculation: Maximum stack size.)

More Horde Token rules (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showpost.php?p=6033124&postcount=21)

Campaign Rules:

Campaign rules cover conflicts over multiple battles. Examples given are Weathertop to the Mines of Moria to Amon Hen to the Black Gates and to Mordor. (Presumably, these represent maps that come in the starter, but that is not confirmed.)

Victories and losses in one battle will have impact in subsequent battles.

Campaign battles are story driven and are specific scenarios. Individual battles may require specific characters, maps, and have special rules.

Victory brings rewards. (The word "treasure" was used. Special objects?) Examples include Mithril Shirt and Hammerhand's Horn. However, losing teams get "reinforcements" in subsequent battles.

It now seems that the Lord of the Rings will get an OP kit (in store prizes).

It follows the usual kits-to-case ratio as the regular OP kits, 1:2, 2:7, 3:12.
The kit solicitation suggests it will have enough material to run ten weeks of games.
Kit contents include (directly quoted):

6 limited editions figures, three each of two Nazgul (Nazgul and One of the Nine) Dials leaked! (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showpost.php?p=6057110&postcount=1) Updated!
5 One Rings special objects, which cost 15 points, require a 6 to pick up, and grant Stealth, PC and Leadership, but you must roll each turn and on a 1 drop the ring and take one unavoidable damage.
6 each of the following Horde tokens: Eagles (M=3), Ents (M=5), Dead Man of Dunharrow (M=4), Mumakil (M=4), Orc Catapult (M=3), and Mountain Troll (M=3).
10 single sided Maps (24” x 36). They seem to be the same as one of the starter maps (Battlefield Outdoors).

Lord of the Rings Starter

The starter features 8 miniatures. Three of the figures are exclusive to the starter, the others are redialed sculpts from the regular set (see above).

Like the main set, this will release on November 23.

The starter includes Campaign rules, which "let you recreate the battles of Middle Earth over multiple maps and sessions".

There will be six maps, including:

Battlefield Outdoors
Moria
Helm's Deep
Helm's Dike, which combines with the Helm's Deep map
Minis Tirith
Pelennor Fields, which combines with the Minis Tirith map.

At least some of the maps have special terrain and "battlefield objectives" (presumably, they tie into the campaign rules).

Special text for the Minis Tirith map:

Trebuchet:
These squares are hindering terrain. Give a character from Force B in this area a power action and roll 2d6; choose which of the dice will indicate the target square with the same orange number on the Minis Tirith map. You may immediately use Pulse Wave as a free action as if you occupied the target square and possessed a range value as indicated by the result of the other die: 1-2:4:bolt:, 3-4:6:bolt:, 5-6: 8:bolt:. A character occupying the target square is dealt 3 penetrating damage.

There will be a rulebook and themed dice "forged from the depths of Mount Doom".

There will be 48 32 horde tokens.

For information on new rules, see the entry for the set above.

Confirmed figures are:

Iron Maiden

There will be a HeroClix compatible Iron Maiden release, possibly in a gravity feed.

The intended release date is "this year-ish".

The first set will have 8-10 figures.

The second set will follow the first set "fairly quickly" and bring the number of figures to 20. (indicating another 10?)

After six months of no information, the same (?) packaging mock-up was presented at the 2011 Toy Fair, as well as a sample figure.

Boosters will be $2.99.

There will also be a non-HeroClix board game. See the non-HeroClix thread (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?p=5289417) for information on this.

I'm seriously considering a Star Trek Evidence thread. I'm judging at a new venue tomorrow and prep for that, along with real life, has taken up a lot of my free time lately, so I haven't dove in and given it a try. Maybe next week. Wizkids brought boxes of them to one of the retailer events. I remember seeing the pictures. I assume the boxes were empty, but the boxes actually showing up at a show-off-my-new-stuff event made it seem like more than a rumor.

It has, though, been pretty quiet on the Iron Maiden front for a long time.

Such a... confusing internal reaction. Is it REAL real compatible? Or, like, faux-compatible like Star Trek?

But nuts to it, I'm gonna LOVE playing a bunch of Nazgul against Spider-Man. And it will not be hard to fold these guys into the next biennial Mage Knight game, either. Let's do this.

Suttkus
01/24/2011, 13:35
I don't have notes on non-HeroClix games. To date, that includes only Star Trek and Iron Maiden (though we haven't heard a word about Iron Maiden in ages anyway) that I can think of.

My primary reason in not including them are that I don't want to have to track down all the little bits of Star Trek information scattered around (I didn't do one for DC75 for the same reason). Anything that's announced from here on out, I'll probably start collecting for, though it will probably get its own thread to keep it clearly separated from the HeroClix stuff.

But Star Trek is a Heroclix game!

http://heroclix.com/blog/2010/06/08/announcing-star-trek-based-games-from-wizkids/

June 8, 2010 (Hillside, NJ) – WizKids/NECA and CBS Consumer Products today announced that they have entered into an agreement wherein WizKids/NECA will create HeroClix branded miniature games to be sold both physically and digitally, set in the Star Trek universe, including all of the Star Trek television shows and Star Trek feature films.

Just to make it clear to anyone reading this, Star Trek was originally announced as "HeroClix branded", but quickly clarified to just be using the clicky dials, not actually compatible with HeroClix. This led to a large fan outcry along the lines of, "If they aren't compatible, why in the world are you marketing them with the HeroClix brand?", though mostly with more insults. It looked for a while like WK was going to drop the ill-considered "HeroClix" branding for Star Trek, but all the latest announcements are using "HeroClix" in them again. Grrr!

Regardless of branding, neither Star Trek game is HeroClix compatible.

This is something that I've been desperately wanting since Heroclix first began.

Man-Thing, Ghost Rider(s), Dracula, Blade, Hannibal King, Dr. Strange, Jennifer Kale, Frank Drake, Morbius, Vengeance, Zarathos, Caretaker, Noble Kale, Werewolf by Night, Daimon Hellstrom, Rachel Van Helsing, Deacon Frost, etc. etc.

Plus, it would be a perfect tie-in for a returning Horrorclix. :D

As a side-note, I'd also love to see a similarly-themed DC set:

Swamp Thing, John Constantine, Tim Hunter, Swamp Thing's daughter, Blue Devil, plus more characters that I'm too tired to remember.

Captain America Miniset New!
A gravity feed box (single figure boosters) was displayed at Toy Fair 2011.

Box text indicates ten figures, which are displayed on the box: Captain America (Bucky-Cap?), Black Widow, Sin, Nick Fury, Klaw, Red Skull, Howling Commando, Hydra ??? (second word not legible), SHIELD Agent, SHIELD Specialist.

The sculpts do not appear to be based on the movie.

Presuming the set release will be aimed to coincide with the movie, it can be expected around July 2011.

I am so flippin' excited about the Cap microset! That Nick Fury will have to be pretty amazing to beat out SI Fury, but I am sure If I don't like the dial that much I could always mod one into the Max Fury LMD in Brubaker's "Secret Avengers".

New Black Widow, new Klaw and Captain F'n Bucky (O'Hare!). Glorious.

The only change I would make is replacing one of the Shield generics with a new Falcon. But I'm sure he's coming down the pike in the next Marvel set, espeically with his increased role in the "Captain America" and "Heroes for Hire" books.

I think the way you're doing it now is great. And I think that Street Fighter deserves it's own thread anyway as:

- It's a new property
- 24 figures is a lot more than 10

New sets can get upgraded to their own threads once we know that they're big sets and have a set name etc. (ie. Superman).

Doesn't make sense to me to buy a case of it like I would a full release. And I'm not going to stand around and try to cherry pick in a Target from a gravity feed.

Found this when I read the day 1 report of GAMA (sorry to suttkus if you already have that, didn't see it in the OP):

Iron Maiden:
Already known by most gamers, this release targeted at old Metal fans comes in 2 forms. First will be a stand-alone board game with 4 highly detailed figures of Eddie, the IM mascot/zombie/warrior. There will also be a Heroclix compatible set of the figs in a gravity feed or something. More on that tomorrow. Release date, "This year-ish".

Nice choices. I kept trading away my SR Loki, so it will be nice to have him again, and point options for the Warriors Three is great. Also nice to get another Asgardian Warrior. I really wonder what to point costs will be now!

Thor 150
Loki 150
Asgardian Warrior 50
And then perhaps Fandral at 50 and Volstagg and Hogun at 100 each?

That would allow for a tonne of different team options at 200, 300 and 400pts.

michiganj24
03/27/2011, 19:19
Sounds like the whole pack is 500 points so I guess soemthing like 100 point for Loki and Thor, 85 each for the Warriors three, 45 for Asgard Warrior

The Hammer of Thor FF pack should be pretty interesting. Since it's movie related, I would expect Loki and Odin to be included despite their original figures' SR status. I'm guessing both will feature radically watered-down dials to keep purists from going too crazy over their re-release. Say, 100 or 150 for Loki and 150-200 for Odin.

Edit: Just saw the pic. NM on Odin. *orphan face*

Right, I didn't see that in the write up text. I don't see how the point costs you suggest make multiple 300pt teams though. I also doubt they'll go with such odd numbers.

I'm still thinking Thor and Loki at 150 each then, as that allows you to play them together as a team if you like. Maybe the Warriors Three and the Asgardian are all 50pts then? 50 seems a little light for them, but that's probably just because we got over-powered versions of them last time. Realistically they should be at a similar level to a normal Asgardian Warrior, or just slightly higher if anything.

michiganj24
03/27/2011, 19:51
No way the Warriors Three are at the same level as Asgardian Warrior
If anything 60,60,60 and 20 point Asgardian as they are def more skilled than a regular Asgardian (not necessarily more powerful but way more in the way of skills and smarts.)

Depends on the Asgardian though really. Some of the 'regular' asgardians could be just as good as the Warriors Three.

Having them all at 50 points would mean you could mix and match them with the 150pt Thor/Loki as you see fit to make a lot of different 300pts teams.

60, 60, 60 & 20 would would mean you could only play the three with the generic. And you could still only have one 300pt team with those point levels as well (Thor and Loki). I really think 50 for each is the best solution, even if it means that the three are a little under-powered.

Didn't the limits change so that now you only have to rep 5 other people before you can rep the same person again instead of what it is was before (I think 20)?

I've been trying to identify all the characters in the LotR display too. There's a better photo of them here (http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/284135_10150258592588964_11068873963_7615926_2422440_n.jpg) courtest of Ironman1994 (his thread is here (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?t=327923))

Going left to right, starting at the front I can see:

- Gimli
- The Mouth of Sauron (pretty sure, although it could be another Nazgul)
- The Witch-King
- Invisible Frodo
- Hobbit duo (looks like Frodo and Sam to me, but could be Merry and Pippin)
- 2 Nazguls
- The One Ring
- Faramir (could be Legolas, but looks a lot more like Faramir)
- An Orc (I think...could be an Urukhai)
- Gandalf the White (or possible Saruman)
- Gollum
- Gandalf the Grey
- Nazgul
- A Troll
-A Hobbit (looks like the same one as in the duo and might even be the same sculpt as the invisible Frodo, so my feeling is that it's Frodo. In fact I think the duo might be using that sculpt as well)
- An Urukhai (maybe Lurtz)
- A Nazgul (making 4 different ones plus the Witch-King)

So some major ones still missing: Aragorn, Boromir, Legolas especially.

Clearly, I have to watch the movies again with the picture on hand to check costumes. : - )

I think you're right about that being the Mouth of Sauron. Meri was the one with the yellow waistcoat in the movie, which is why I said the duo was Meri and Pippin, but I don't think any of them wore a red cloak. Compare this image (http://tolkien-movies.com/images/archive/characters/newline-merrypippin.jpg).

I'm also not certain that the One Ring in the picture is meant as a game piece rather than just a visual prop, like Thanos' stand in the other Gen Con display. At least, I hope that's not a game piece... what would it do? : - )

The one on the left of the duo just looks like Sam to me, and the other one does look like the same sculpt as the solo Hobbit and the clear one. Perhaps they just reused the same sculpt for all the Hobbits a la the Hellions.....yeesh I hope not. It could easily be Merry and Pippin...they do make the most sense as the duo (how many Frodos to we really need?)/

They look normal sized to me. The Nazgul look a little big, but they are quite big. And obviously the Troll is massive. But they are just standing on the poop cresents rather than whole clix bases, so I think that is throwing a lot of people off on the scale.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but Legolas was not on display at Gen-Con due to paint issues. In talking with Justin he specifically told me that Legolas was of course in the set, but wasn't displayed because he wasn't happy with the paint job. In his words, "The hair on the display piece was far too yellow, and not the white-blonde that it was supposed to be, so we chose not to display something we weren't happy with."

Plus we all saw how well they did that in the Thor FF with giving us Warriors Three at new point costs lol

I also think they could have been smart and held off the FF for a few months and push it around the time of either the cartoon or movie

Considering his prominence in the Hulk mythos, I expect he will be in the Gravity Feed as well.

Now that I've seen a close up picture of Abomination, I think they've sculpted him so that he can just be re-painted blue for A-Bomb. He has wierd armour plating which A-Bomb usually has but not Abomination.

Which 10 figures do you want in the GF then? We know there is Hulk, Red Hulk, Leader Abomination and Banner, and I'm happy to get an additional version of those three. I'd like a 'Hulk-less' Banner like he was recently ideally. I expect we'll get She-Hulk who it will be good to have another of. That leaves four spaces left.

Hopefully they will put three generics in the GF (soldier, AIM and something else) so that will leave one more space. Personally I'd like an alternate Thundra, but I doubt she is prominent enough. It will probably be General Ross.

Hulk
Red Hulk
Leader
I would have left out Abomination and Banner
and the last 7 would be
She Hulk
AIM
Hulkbuster (not the Solider but the armored ones especially the ones who remind me of Ripley in Aliens)
Ghost Rider
Red King
Absornbing Man
(and Yeah I too would like Thundra as the last person in but that aint likley so my realistic 10th pick is...)

Just found a picture of the LotR starter:

http://milsims.cdn.kept.com.au/sites/milsims.com.au/files/imagecache/product_full/prodimg/hclotrstarter.jpg

Here's the text about it:
The battle of Middle-Earth continues with your favorite heroes and villains in the Lord of The Rings Starter!

Featuring 3 figures exclusively found in the Starter and 5 other figures completely redialed from the base set! The Starter also boasts Campaign Rules, which lets you recreate the battles of Middle Earth over multiple maps and sessions.

The Starter set is a perfect way for New HeroClix players to learn the ropes of the HeroClix realm as it provides everything you need to start a game with your friends!

Contents:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8 Figures (3 exclusive to the starter)
6 Lord of The Rings maps
48 Horde tokens
1 2011 Official Rulebook, including optional campaign rules
2 themed dice forged from the depths of Mount Doom

Fully compatible with all other Heroclix miniatures games.

Looks to me like the figures are:
- Aragorn
- Lurtz (or just an Uruk-hai)
- Sauron!
- 3 Hobbits (Merry, Pippin and Frodo? Or is one Sam?)
- A Troll
- The Witch King

We don't actually know that the boosters will lack generics, but with the revelation of the horde tokens, it does seem likely. Still, I'm actually curious how this will play out, and at least they're doing something new and interesting with the figure-token concept.

We know there are 48 tokens in the starter. We don't know how many different types there are though.

I think this is a clever way to give us massive armies quickly. And it also means that it will be possible to play through a campaign with just the starter, which is really neat.

Although I think most people will want all the extra characters from the boosters as well.

Not that I can see, but you can look through the picture yourself (http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150258592588964&set=a.10150258584733964.329860.11068873963&type=1&ref=nf). There was some speculation that the duo figure was Frodo/Sam, but I'm pretty sure it's Merri/Pippin.

I can't talk about "still", only that if they've changed the date, nobody has told me!

Comical usually keeps us up to date on changes, though.
