Ok so I have never traded on here before because I am a little uncomfortable with mailing my figs away to someone I dont know. Is there any way to search for people in my local area on here so I could actually trade with someone in person? Thanks for any help.

P.S. I work afternoon/nights during the week and thats when most of my local venus have their tournys so please dont say "start going to tournys and trading with people there"

I dont think this will work as it might be dangerous to trade in person to someone that they dont know...

There isn't any way that I know of, but I would recommend trading here. Start off trading only with people with a high trade rating (50+)- they're usually a good sign of people that'll stick around. I've done 30 or so trades online and have been ripped off 3 times (oddly enough by two people in Canada and one in Texas), so you do have to be careful. But, for the most part, the scam artists get weeded out and the people who stick around are good.

What I do now is look at the itrade rating and feedback of the person that I am going to trade with. Then I send PMs to some of the people that left feedback for a reference. Other than that you just have to take a risk. I was sketchy at first and I Do not have a high rating (13) so I am usually the one sending first. It's not a great feeling to have. As I stated above be sure to check who they traded with and when their last trade was Never be afraid to PM for a reference.

You are pretty much left with trading with nobody with those options.

If you want to trade on here you may. Trade with people that have high itrade ratings. Make sure you read the rules and take the necessary precautions. Everything is a little scary at first. Don't be afraid to try something new.

I would agree people should be very cautious when meeting someone they dont know but and after playing clix for quite a while I would have to guess that about 90% of us are adults that should be able to take care of ourselves. Also that is why you meet in a very populated place like a mall or something. But thats not my point, maybe we could have a serperate "In person" trade section for people that ARE comfotable trading in person. I dunno just an idea for those of us to dont like mailing away our expensive little pieces of plastic away to a possible scammer. Craigslist could be a place to go but considering heroclix is not a ridiculously popular game I doubt I would get a great response if any.

If you are limiting yourself to local players only, you will be missing out on a lot of trades even if you live in a large city. Additionally a group of local players tends to trade for something that works for them in the local area. This will also limit your trade selection. Take everyone's advice and stay with the higher rating members at the beginning till you build up some reputation. Always use delivery confirmation and make sure you use a strong box when mailing. Additionally make sure you click on their itrader rating number to see if there are any blemishes in the record of the person you are trading with.

I have never been ripped off in a trade on HCRealms. When I first started trading, I mainly traded CUR pieces and nothing of any serious value. I also look at the trader rating of the people I trade with. Perhaps equally important is the list of people the trader has traded with.

Another possibility is a third party trade where you and the other person send your packages to a trusted third party (someone with a 200+ trade rating or an agreed upon comic shop). The cost of shipping is double, but the safety of the trade should be guaranteed.

The only real way to search how you want is to click on someones name & then read through their profile info.
Sometimes they'll have listed their location....

And if you pay attention while reading posts you can also determine where some people are.

But really you should check their feedback rating. And avoid anyone with neutrals/negatives.
After that? You'll just have to take a leap of faith until you get a few raiting points of your own. And then? (now this'll sound really cold, but....) Restrict your trades to people with lower #s than yourself - because they'll be the ones sending 1st.

On your end of a trade?
1) Always ship promptly.
2) Always use sturdy boxes.
3) ALWAYS use Delivery Confirmation #s.
4) Always PM those DC #s to your trade partner as soon as possible
5) And leave feedback.
