Hey Everyone,
Okay, I just got a pretty Nice trade offer that I think will work out quite well for me. Just in case you didn't read one of my earlier threads, I haven't played Clix since Origins, so I don't really have anything from Avengers to WOS.
"I am looking to procure your:
Donna Troy WL
Hal Jordan SR
Ice WL
In exchange I can offer you...
Green Arrow WL and
ONE of the following:
Complete CUR set of Arkham Asylum (1-48) *whole lotta yellow lanterns in this set and some great Bat villains
Complete CUR set of Justice League (1-48) *some great figs throughout the set
The Bulk of the out of print Crisis set (1-48) minus the following: Tempest, Trigon, Star Sapphire, Kyle Rayner, Green Lantern and Nightwing. Will throw in Blue Beetle/Booster Gold SR for balance."
The only thing I would really 'miss' if I did this trade would be the WL Donna Troy. I'm also not sure which of the 3 CUR Sets I would choose. I'm leaning towards Crisis since it's the hardest to get and pretty expensive...despite the fact that it's missing a few CUR's. I'm going to do a bit of research real quick, but I think this will work out well for me.
Those who measure clix only in terms of $ value will likely tell you this is not "fair" (to you).
There are other ways of measuring "fair" though. Chief amongst them being "Are YOU happy with the trade?".

How much do you think the $$ value of the Crisis set is? I'm pretty sure that's what I would go for.
Do you think it would be fair if I counter-offered 2x CUR + Green Arrow WL for my WL Donna Troy,Ice and SR Hal Jordan? Or the WL Ice + Hal Jordan Sr for Green Arrow WL and one of the CUR sets?
Any other opinions please? IF anyone has a Crisis CUR set, how much would you charge for it?
I would love to get more opinions!
The second sticky at the top of this forum just so happens to be a price guide.
Also simply scrolling through Troll & Toad alone is a good enough guage.
Or you can sift through (completed) auctions on EBay.
WL Green Arrow has been increasing in price although a lot of him just popped up on E-Bay. I think GA is worth Ice and Donna together. Check E-Bay he's selling for $40-50. Ice is $20-25 and Donna is $30-37.
So your getting a C/U/R set for Hal. Donna may go back up once there's fewer of her available.
Actually Donna has gone up as well. The last 5 sales have been $39-40 buy it now. Ollie has been $45-49. So it comes down to is Ice and Hal worth a set of C/U/R and do you need a set?

Eh. Like someone already mentioned, $ wise it's not even. But if you are getting back in the game it could be alright for you.
The problem is in 3 months from now when you have steadily built your collection back up, you will probably look back and say "man where did my 3 white lanterns go?" Oh yea I got these CUR that I hardly look at and never play.
Crisis is an alright set, but a CUR that is missing some of the most key CUR's of the set (Nightwing, Kyle, Trigon, Green Lantern) doesn't sound appealing.
I wouldn't even look at the Justice League one.
The AA CUR set probably has the largest amount of playable figs, but you could pick one up for half the $ value of Hal.
If I were you I'd ask for them all and the green arrow. the White Lanerns are hot right now, get as much as you can for them. Crisis super rares are expensive, most of the CUR are not - and a few of the ones missing are the hardest nons to get.

Yeah, I think you're right. Plus I just got a decent chunk of CUR's from various sets (including Crisis), from pretty much every Modern Age set from hair10 for a very low price, and I think I'll be good for now in regards to CUR's...at least until I've played some games and figure out what I really want from the sets I've never seen.
I may counter-offer asking for them all, or perhaps to get One CUR set + WL Green Arrow, but I get to keep Donna Troy.
Still, after calming down and thinking about it, I think it might be better to hang to Hal Jordan SR and possibley Ice for trade bait in getting the other WL's I want.

The JL CUR set is largely junk. AA is good, but if you really want the whole set, you can buy them pretty cheap or do what I did. I ordered a case from Miniature Market for $100 and got the full CUR set and 7 SRs. Plus there's the chance of a chase.(I didn't get one unfortunately) THe Crisis CUR set is missing some of the better pieces like someone already said.
CUR sets are usually only a good trade if you're a collector, or want to play at least 75% of the pieces. Otherwise you'll end up with a bunch of pieces you don't need. Personally, I wouldn't take the trade. Instead of buying boosters, save the money and buy the exact pieces you want from those CUR selections. My two cents.

CUR sets are super easy to complete in anything modern age. I started playing at the tail end of Hammer of Thor and have managed to put together a full cur of all of those sets (plus most of the super rares) for insanely cheap. If you hit the right spots, you can get most of those figures for under a buck a piece.
