This may have been done to death so if it has, I apologize.

Doesn't anyone think there is a problem that you don't need line of sight to erect a barrier?

Basically, on an indoor map, you could erect a barrier in another room that you can't see, though a bloody wall. That just seems a might silly doesn't it? With all the talk of shooting over and through the darnthings, it's the placement of a barrier that gives me the most trouble.

Yeah it actually is kinda rediiculous but its one of the things in the game that are a bit dumb that can be tolerated a little more

I think it would be better if barriers couln't be bulit through blocking terrain. You could still make them if figure bases were in the way.

Barrier is my MOST favorite power! And lest you start saying, "Are you a defensive player?", I use Barrier offensively to trap enemies so they can't run away from my attacks and to herd them right where I want them. Suffice it to say, indoor maps are my where I am at my best!

Mr. TW is really annoying with his barriers, but he knows how to play aggressive defense. definitely not a turtler.
His barriers all say " prevent me from doing 3 more damage to his guy this turn". In the end, they just make his death slower (or they make our games hit the time limit with no one dying)

Hey, my technique is pretty successful as evidenced by my placing 2nd and 1st the last two tournies. And hey, it was only by a stupid mistake that you took out Sabertooth. If you want, let's have a rematch between your "Monster Team" and my "Brotherhood Team"! I'll show ya some aggressive defense! :):) Gotta love the "bai'yas"!

Another irksome detail is the range idea. Only one square needs to be in range - the rest can be extended beyond it. But with Smoke Cloud, essentially the same power but hindering instead of blocking terrain, all squares have to be within range. Why the difference? No idea. That led to the problem with 0 range figures as well. So instead of one consistent rule for both barrier and smoke cloud, we have two different rules each with special errata.

I love the power, and as others have mentioned it's functional in both attack and defense. But I wish the rules were a little less annoying.

(and yes, it has previously been discussed to death, unfortunately.)

I think barrier is one of the powers done right. Think about it. Would Avalanche need a LOS to cause an earthquake in another room?

No, but Pyro would need line of sight to create a fire wall.

How about the master of sound Klaw?

Same thing. He'd need line of sight. Sound waves emanating from a source lose strength when trying to pass through solid material. So unless he was blowing a hole through the wall to create a barrier, he'd need LOS.

somebody seems to have noticed that this rule is complete nonsense!!!!
I think you should need a LOS for the 1st square of barrier, which let you use barrier a lot, but w/o all the stupid things u can do in an indoor map for instance....

Barrier is NOT Smoke Cloud. The biggest difference being that you can shoot through a Smoke Cloud.

Also, Barrier, played aggressively allows you to move your characters into the open without fear of being shot at by elevated opponents (cause elevated opponents cannoth see over barriers) and allows you to turn the tide of the game to your favor.

Uh, to what is this referring? And what the heck does it mean?

Since I'm the only one who mentioned SC previously, I'm assuming it has some relevance to my comments, but I can't figure out what. Or am I mistaken here and you mean something else entirely? Please elaborate.

But can elevated characters see over a smoke cloud?

Since smoke clouds are hindering terrain, they can.
