View Full Version : Generation-X in GSX?

What do you think the chances are of Gen-X characters in GSX this year? I play a lot of Modern Age and I'm hoping I can at least run a 300 point Gen-X team.

Do you think there's a chance or has the Generation-X train sailed? Will I get my dreamed of 100 pointish Chamber or will the new teenaged hotness get preference?

I noticed that Emma Frost from GSX has the Generation-X keyword, so hope has sprung, but there's been three teen X-teams since which have more than enough character that people want.

Anyway... Hope I haven't rambled too long. Just think that Gen-X has a bit of flavour to give is all :)

Bring on all the X-themes. I'm hoping that they round out X-Factor as well.

I'm really hoping for more Gen Xers as well. I really want a heavy hitter Chamber as well as Synch and Skin making a clix debut. I think with the keyword on the spoiled dial there is a chance. It took a while but the Infinity Watch was completed in HoT.

Ah, and that brings me to another concern;

I don't want to use Golden Age Banshee and Jubilee either. I'd like to see them updated.

I know every X-fan wants a different thing, and we all won't get what we all want, but Gen-X needs some love, dammit!!! (And I'd go as far as say whoever designed the Chamber we got hasn't read much with him in it).

Pfligman

Yeah the M&M Chamber was a total head scratcher, I think they may have based him of the Poptopia(SP, title?) storyline from Uncanny. Whatever it was it was a far cry from any of the Gen X stories where Chamber was the power of the team and often stood alone against major villians.

i'm a X-Force fan, so i want to see the rest of the current X-Force created.

Archangel (a new one is much needed)
Domino
Elixir
Fantomex
Psylocke
Vanisher

You know I dropped X-Force once they jammed Deadpool into the team with the new #1. Sure fire way to make me drop a book is put Deadpool on the cover or in the book.

But you also make my point. With only 60 spaces, how many line ups can they put in?

Gen X was one of the few X titles I enjoyed (I also loved New Mutants, so I seem to have a soft spot for lost and confused teens that accidentally blow things up with their newfound powers)...

Include some of the guys that seem to be on every team?

Well, with figs like Cyclops going for 110 points I'm assuming the rest of the "veteran" x-men will be in that 75-125 point range. A lot of other powerful mutants seem to be on the bill too.

It's very possible they'd balance that with some low-mid cost figs like Gen-Xers. In general I'm very curious to know what low-cost figs we'll see (other than Hellions and Mindless Ones) in a set that promises a bunch of iconic/powerful figures.

Yeah, but that REALLY kills my Gen-X hopes. Isn't M the only former Gen-Xer operating in ANY capacity these days?

Jubilee and Husk had some appearances outside the Gen-X title, I heard...

A few of the Gen-X kids were in the new run of New Warriors.

I just really hope we get a Wolverine with the trait "Possesses every Team Ability. Even DC ones."

Ah. I would love a vampire Jubilee from the current Curse of the Mutants story. And Husk would be the awesomest first Marvel choice for Beast Boy's Morph trait :)

UNfortunately, I think the chances are slim. Although, White Queen Has the Keyword so you never know, especially since we're ripe for a Banshee Remake (He's on the Cover of Giant Sized X-Men #1). I hope we get a Syrin as well though, though I guess she goes by banshee now.

My first guess for the Morph trait would be Angel & Archangel: their power sets are entirely differant, yet on roughly equal level.

Husk I actually imagined more like the Wonder Twins: Choose powers off a specified list and count as having them for the turn. Maybe a tweak on Super Adaptoid where Husk would use a power action and choose a power (possibly both an :a-fist: and :d-normal: power) and then have those powers until the next time the ability is used.

I think as far as GenX goes you probly will only see 3 tops, past Emma Frost. Jubilee most likely being one of them.

I wonder how long it will take before Nyx gets a fig.

If They Make Jubilee, they could make her an uncommon Gen-Xer and make an LE vampire version for the OP kit.

Syrin has taken her dad's name now? Rats. If they ever make a figure, which they should, they better name it Syrin!

I don't play Modern Age nor 300 point games and I'm hoping there are some Gen-X pieces.

I need me an M and Husk badly - like really badly. Skin, Synch, Mondo, etc are all good, too.

Update New Mutants FIRST!! Either the Hellion led version or the originals. Canonball is needed along with a kickarse Dani Moonstar and crazy awesome Magik. Since the hellions are actually in this set I'm thinking New mutants may make it as well.

I fear we're really not gonna get many new characters in this set. Nextwave is a blessing, but we've already have a ton of X-men where most just need remakes and finally a good version (Wolverine).

I agree that if they put some characters in that hopefully they will be the characters that can support 2 different teams like:

M (X-men 1 issue, Gen-X, X-factor)
Darwin (X-men, X-factor)
Longshot (-men, Exiles, X-factor)
Husk (X-men, Gen-X)
Psylocke (X-men, X-force, Exiles, Hand)
Elixir (New X-men, X-force)
Rockslide (New X-men, Young X-men)
Magma (New mutants, Hellions, X-men)

Could go on, but you get the idea.

I know a lot of people are happy for Nextwave, but if there was ever a set to experiment with going 100% theme, it would be an X-set. The problem I am seeing, is that with the current Modern Age.

With Modern Age being 2 years worth of sets, there is a constant need to remake iconic figures. After all, what would Modern Age be without a legal Captain America or Iron Man or Fantastic Four or many of the classic X-Men. (Wolverine, Cyke, etc.)

So basically we are stuck HAVING to get remakes every 2 years worth of sets or so in order to keep fans of those characters happy. Maybe this belongs in the "I wish" thread, but I think Wizkids should start planning ahead from the next cut this summer, (which is cutting sets like M&M and JL which have just been replaced somewhat by DC75 and GSX) and extend the Modern Age going forward to 3 years worth of sets to increase variety, but also keep from having to print so many remakes in the sets we do get. (Which are also down to 3 per year from 4 before the "Dark Age")

I LOVE X-Men, but I want to see Gen-X and New Mutants and X-Force and even X-Statix but I'm afraid we never will if every 2 years an X-set gets made but half the spots for X-men get taken up by reprints of the main guys.

So 2 future ideas:

1) Use an X-set in the future to experiment with 100% theme sets.
2) Extend Modern Age (in the future, not immediately) to 3 years worth of sets to hold down on neccesary reprints.

Archangel can change? Interesting...

And yeah, I can see Husk working like that, but i would love to have a wooden version, a gaseous version, a rubber version, because she did change her look (and looked awesome almost every time).

If They Make Jubilee, they could make her an uncommon Gen-Xer and make an LE vampire version for the OP kit.

I could get behind that.

I used to love Cannonball. Until they took him from being a bas ### leader of X-Force and pushed his intelligence, confidence and attitude back to New Mutants #1 when he joined the X-Men.

As much as I would hope for Gneration X or X-Factor I think at best we might see a token character or 2 as I do believe they would have made some mention in the promotional work as the have already mentioned the Horseman, Hellions and Next Wave none exactly sales starters plus Astonish X-men(who except for Armor are just the regular names...although would love an Ord) and Brotherhood

01/03/2011, 16:49
i could see a new banshee, with his recent undead activities, and i would be afraid if they did a jubilee right now with her depowered status or vampire version, tho it would be nice to have a full power jubilee, from her peek generation x times, tho i do like the rev from supernova, it does need a power boost. husk could be interesting to see too

2 Gun Kid
01/03/2011, 17:06
Well if they did a depowered version then it would be her with her New Warriors gear...so Super Strength, Pym Particles, and MegaBoobs and the New Warrior Keyword...I can work with that.

A Vamp Boobilee, Skin, Sync, and the Post Apacolypse Chamber would do well.

And hopefully some space is left for some X-Statics...or at least just Dead Girl.

The funniest part to me is that my close friends that play clix are also wrestling fans, so we always joke about making a WWE Heroclix set and who whould get what stats and powers.

Yes and No
Penance is what she was in Gen -X and was the amalgamation of M and or her siblings
Hollow was who appeared in Loners
They are 2 separate figures and would be best reppped as Penance and LE Hollow
Hollow uses the same body that the Monet family abanodoned and had somebody trapped inside. It was supposed to be somebody the Marvel Universe knew well but no one ever followed up on he story and thus we have no resolution
