a pal of mine challenged me to a 400 pt match, revolving around The Key cause he still cant beat him...so I took him on and built this team. I need opinions...

v Checkmate Medic 19
r Aquaman 27
r Hawkman 32
e Booster Gold 38
u Desaad 47
v Nightwing 72
le Selina Kyle 75
u The Key 89

adds up to 399 points. I have a few variations of this team, with bigger bruisers (exp Grundy, vet Catwoman), 3 fliers (hawkman, booster gold, and an experienced Dove)...so whattya think guys?

Greetings,

Not a shabby team by any strech. However I somewhat question the use/need for Aquaman. He's a super strength leadership piece with no damage reduction on a eight figure 400pt team. What's that leadership power going to be used for? Especially with a medic (who isn't moved much) and Booster+Hawkman as a free mover.

I personally (because I love mobility) would probably dump the lord of the seas for a E Manbat. 9 move plus 2 damage isn't too shabby for moving people in, and the damage oughta do just fine considering all the outwit you have out there. He could then be used to carry around Nightwing so that #### can still outwit *and* attack. (Don't pay for that 10 attack 3 damage if you're going to have him leap/climb around and outwit all the time)

Of course if you're trying to give your pal an even break then I would put in a Black Manta.I mean, c'mon...he's a undersea pirate...with...stuff.

A thought,
Thor.

of course, outwit AND attack is my entire strategy, especially shooting from hindering terrain, cloaking my nighty effectively :) as for aquaman, i only had like 28 points free, thought i d throw in a cheap leadership roll with someone who can deal decent damage, since i already have 2 fliers for my 2 main attackers, selina and nightwing, but then again i cud use man bat to ferry the key around for optimal mind controlling...and about Black Manta, lol, funny arse. I planned on playing a "Build the team, Hand it to your Friend" scenario where you build the worst team possibly and have ur friend play it and vice versa...should be a whole lotta fun. All those Clayfaces, Jokers, Plastic Men, Changelings lying dormant in my collection...funny how most of them are Shape Changers/Plasticity figures? HOW THE HECK ARE THEY USEFUL?

Acually I find Clayface to be an excellent figure for a few reasons (I only have the Veteran so I cannot speak for the others)

Build a Batman Enemy team with Clayface in it. Taxi in Bane to deal some pain and then rush Clayface up to be alongside him. Now you have many options and advantages, to wit;

Clayfaces plasticity prevents people from fleeing Bane, tie down good ranged units this way!

Clayface's and Banes tougness mean that if they've based a Bullseye or Huntress then that RCE is darn near useless now. (Don't even talk about SHIELD Snipers)

Clayface's attack value is good enough that you can perplex it to boost bane's attack without giving up CCE.

Or! Perplex up Clayface's damage (c'mon, Batmen enemies have swarms of perplex in Harley, Joker, and Riddler) and use his or Bane's 10 attack to lay a shocking beating on an opponent.

Feel free to push Clayface, that poison will shock your opponent, and as long as Bane is nearby you can up that one damage and still have a good attack.

If they try something surprising just move Clayface over (Plasticity=darn near assured breakaways) to tie them up and render the stratagy useless, then follow up with the Manbat/Bane taxi.

I will admit when I play him Clayface almost always goes down in the first few rounds, but he always inflicts some nasty damage and causes a positioning problem that often costs my foe the game.

Just some thoughts about one of my favorite underratted characters,
Thor.

nice! i m trying to figure this out...you re saying clayface's poison even hurts bane if bane was adjacdent to him? would his toughness cancel out the point of damage? now i ve got some thoughts about bane...and oh about perplexers, believe me i know...love them with my flash...thanks for the eye-opener on clayface, lets see if i dont surprise anybody with him :)

back to my 400 point team, thanks for the suggestion on mobility, i ll try it with man bat tomorrow night! :)

I think I confused you, the Bane comment was about how he could share attack values with Clayface. Yes, the toughness allows Bane to be immune to the poison.
