View Full Version : Should NECA/WizKids produce a Ragnarok character for Heroclix?

Pretty self-explanatory question. If you don't know who this is or missed out on the entire Civil War event, here's some links to catch you up:

Absolutely, yes.

I don't really see why not. They could make it an LE or repaint (not sure much needs to be repainted, though) of a Thor fig already appearing in a set.

Sure (I voted Yes), but it's hardly a crying need. One can easily take one of the other Thors already made and easily pretend it's this (questionable) plot device. This is a niche item that's way down the list of pieces calling out to be made. I probably should have joined the "I don't care" vote instead, but I generally go for more character options over fewer.

Maybe the most obviously missing piece from HeroClix when I think of Civil War would be a character who's been around in comics since 1974, and who was arguably the single person most responsible for the kick-off of Marvel's Civil War: Nitro.

I would definitely like to see Nitro made before Ragnarok- but I agree, more options is better than fewer (even if that does mean the occasional sculpt recycle and repaint).

Totally agree that Nitro needs to be made. While I would put money on guessing that the next Marvel set after GSXM will be Avengers-themed, once again, I'd really like to see a set favoring more Marvel villains. When you look at The Hood's gang of villains, nearly all of them (other than the Wrecking Crew) have yet to be made.

Nitro, Tigershark and Gorgon (Hydra Leader) are my favorite unmade villains, to date.

Why not call it what it really is? Clor was a joke and an abomination to storytelling when it came out. What changed?

No.

Well, he IS dead now, so that's better, right? ;)

Agreed on all counts. The character was a bit silly, but I'm all for every character - no matter how odd, obscure, or even lame - getting into Heroclix at least once.

Though yes, there is most definitely a Nitro-shaped hole in my Heroclix collection.

I think he would be a very cool LE to do for a new Thor if they were to make one.

I couldn't care less if they create a character central to a storyline I couldn't care less about. But since this guy was apparently a thor clone with all of Thor's abilities (yes, I had to look him up), couldn't you just use Thor?
And I'm in agreement about needing a Nitro clix. Again, not that I care for the character, but he was pretty important for killing the New Warriors and indirectly starting the Civil War.

The next Marvel set will probably be a villain-based set. We need more badies!!!

Well, yeah. I could think of about 50ish characters that I would rather see made before Ragnarok, but why not him too?

Oh, that Ragnarok. I voted under the assumption of Ragnarok, not the Thor clone. No, I don't think there should be a Thor clone, aka Ragnarok, figure.

Yes, but I think Ragnarok would be better as an LE of the current "Odinforce" Thor.

Wombatboy

Before this I'd never heard him called Ragnarok before. I always knew him as just cloned-Thor or "Clor."

If I want a clone of Thor I'll just use Thor, especially since his Supernova and Hammer of Thor versions aren't unique.

I agree with those who say they should make Nitro instead!

I voted for I really don't care one way or the other. I agree with Miraclo that Nitro's absence from this game is more pressing. I mean, this is the guy whose actions ultimately caused Captain Marvel's cancer and subsequent death.

His name is Clor. I read the arc where he took other name an couldn't even remember that.

No, his name is Ragnarok. Marvel named him and here's his bio from the Marvel website:

Clor is what he was called by the readership when he first made an appearance.

For awhile I did want Clor or whatever, but I'd rather have Gorgon and all of the heads of Hydra from Secret Warriors before him/it.

Was this name actually printed in an issue of a comic or is this just what Marvel called him in-house and used for the official bio?

Who?

Is that the Thor clone that killed Black Goliath?

Why not just use a Thor? One of the Supernova ones should suffice.

I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE to see some more Asgardian stuff though. Especially Frost Giants!!!

i voted no, but checked out wikipedia. I had no idea the thor clone/robot was named ragnarok and i figured herc ended him anyways. I dont read comics enough i know but i change my vote to YES include him. Hed be a cool character to have in Clixdom.

If it's a character we don't have and it's not a lame repaint or generic I am all for it.

Though I do agree with everyone saying that there are a bunch of more important characters that fit the above criteria, including Nitro.

And the character is better known by that name than by Ragnarok.

Yeah the name was used in the comics. One instance I can remember was the fight with Volstagg during Siege.

You are claiming that a villain-based set is 51% (or more) likely to happen? Where do I put my money for some of that action. There is absolutely no evidence of the next set being villain-based, and between history and what I do know to be happening in the future, I would guess that a villain-based set is far from "probable".

As for the subject of the thread, I do not care.
I am with the "more characters are better than fewer" crowd, but this character has (hopefully) made his last appearance so his window of good opportunity is closing fast, and is quite low on my, and apparently others', "characters that I would like to see" lists.

Because if you had to play the "Would you rather have Ragnarok or <insert specific character here>" game, I would wager that his approval rating would drop below even the 30-something percent he has as I type this.

Nitro?
Tiger Shark?
Skaar?
Daimon Hellstrom?
Morg?

I don't know much of anything about Skaar but I still think that he would be a better call than Ragnarok.

Ragnarok is better done, I think, as an LE of a Thor done in the main set.
And no one could complain about him taking up a "better" character's slot (though they might complain about the lame LE).

I'm a big yes. I love that it showed the depths to which Tony and Richards and Dr. Strange too I believe, would sink. That they would desecrate the memory of their then-believed dead compatriot, and then to have it all blow up in their faces when he slew Bill Foster. I liked the character so much, I made my own:

CLOR (http://mach1neman.deviantart.com/art/CLOR-Clone-of-Thunder-158183216)

Why just use a Thor when you could get a different visual altogether for Clor, or Ragnarok?

I said yes because I try not to be against any figure being made. There are some I would rather not see and very few I would be strongly against being made. The ones I would rather not see I'm ok with since I'm sure someone wants them. The ones i'm strongly against don't ask.

Issues 607 & 608 of Thor. Ragnarok uses his own name several times in the fight.
