Line of Sight: Barrier

Barrier doesn't require line of sight? Why is this. I didn't realize this(my fault) and played a friend of mine. He barriered in a room he couldn't see to trap one of my people so he couldn't get away. What is the reasoning behind this line of insanity? I can see that you might not need to see a room to place a barrier in it, but to specifically target certain spots in the room with accuracy, yes you would need to be able to see it.

The only limitation is that it must be made within a person's range.

According to the rules you don't need it, but feel free to make a house rule if you feel that's too unreasonable.
