Please select from the list in the Poll, all characters you would not play it's best pre-card version over any of the characters carded versions? I am trying to determine whether it is worth keeping any of the pre-carded figures, that have a carded predeccesor, even if playing Golden Age rules. Example, would you go with Crisis Superman 100, over any pre-carded version when playing Golden Age rules. I could Feat Crisis Superman 100, just as I can KC Superman. I realize people like to play many versions of each figure, including pre-carded versions in team builds, when playing Golden Age Rule, but Vote as if you had to choose pre-Card or Card, and had no other choice.

Other than Doomsday, all of those figs have viable, non-carded options for fitting onto various build-totals.

The big ones for me would be Green Arrow, Doomsday, Flash, Black Adam, and Venom.

what about the choice:
I might play either version.

I would pick that one.

Or other. I would pick other too

I would use pre-carded versions of all the characters listed except:

Ganthet - the original had too soft a middle. Realistically, I won't ever field the new one either but since I traded away the old one I guess I don't have a choice if I ever played in a Ganthet vs Ganthet tourney.

Mysterio - he is just terrible. I got rid of nearly all of them years ago, just keeping 1 (the rookie) in case. The new one is a lot more expensive but if I was ever going to use a Mysterio, it would be him.

Superman - the Origin is a nice cheap option and the ICONS Rookie gives me starting Running Shot. Man of Steel is okay, too.

Wonder Woman - got a lot tougher recently but all that Defend is killing her. CJ is still not bad.

I almost went with Martian Manhunter, thinking only CJ - then I remembered Origin and those pieces are excellent!

GL? Kyle, R Stewart, Hal - yes, yes, yes

Flash - I was thinking, nope. Then I remembered the ICONS U and thought... "maybe".

Aquaman: HT has some of the cheapest ones around. Heck yes.

Green Arrow - the CJ Vet is still amazing for the points.

Batman - ICONS Starter Bats rocks, still.

Iron Man - I was debating, and likely I wouldn't only because that darn FCBD version is so darn cheap!

Thor - I love the SuperNova version and their many powers. Fun tops the efficiency of the HoT version.

Captain America - until they make one that plays like "my Cap", V Ultimates it will remain.

Spider-Man - I'm not sure. The Sinister ones are pretty good. I might drop my Ultimate versions soon since none can really top the SI cheese-piece. This could go...

Daredevil - HoT is too expensive. If I NEEDED a Daredevil I'll go back to Sinister every time.

Wolverine - why is this here? There has only been 1 new carded Wolverine who isn't a zombie and he SUCKS as Wolverine. I doubt I'll ever use anyone other than DOFP (but here's hoping GSX changes my mind)

F4 - Thing replaces all. No question. The rest - not so much.

Hulk - Possible.

Doomsday - I was thinking no and then I recalled how many swarms of Doomsdays I've read. I would use the HT Doomsdays and them.

Sinestro - heck yea! Legacy's still hold up!

Amazo - Seriously? The original is superior by saving 50 points alone.

Annihilus - This was a close one.

Doom - CT is pretty nasty with feats.

Bane - Alpha is cheap! Is that considered carded?

Joker - yes.

Ulik - the original is a monster!

Venom - with Pounce, sure.

Scarlet Witch - if I want to see through Stealth I will.

Dr. Strange - the Fantastic Forces totally hold up for the points.

Bullseye - can't stand the cheese, go Sinister (or IC Vet)

Adam - I don't use either. I might use the CM version for cost.

Deadpool - for points, yes.

Ultra-Humanite (see above)

Black Adam - the E is incredible on a JSA team for the points. The Vet holds up.

Captain Marvel - Origin is amazing! Who replaced him - the duo???

Mandarin - okay now you are being silly. The carded one sucks.

Falcon - see above.

Just read what tyroclix wrote in a funny accent and you have my opinion.

Only a few pre-Avengers figures that I would never play in favor of their newer versions-

Green Arrow (I have the starfish faced one for low point teams.)

Hulk (IMO, there were only a couple of truly good playable Hulks, Ultimates Hulk and the squatting mailaway Hulk. When I need a Hulk for the past couple years, I always reach for Rampaging Hulk first.)

Doomsday (The older versions maybe much cheaper, but their stats are also far too low by today's standards)

Amazo (Old Amazo is cheaper but too top heavy in my opinion)

Annihilus (Old versions are far too vanilla)

Ultrahumanite (New one is expensive but gives me good feeling as a main figure in a fight, old one just does not really fit my playstyle)

Only Doomsday and Dr Strange. The older versions have some charm to them or the new ones have something that I find extraneous.

The pre carded figures are underage...

The only carded figures I consider to have completely replaced their older versions (of the figures I own, that is) would be Martian Manhunter and Venom. We now have both a Mac and Eddie Venom, plus Mac as Sinister Spidey, and they're both better than the originals. The AA Martian Manhunter is absolutely perfect. No other version needed, including the Brightest Day one - that sculpt just bugs me to no end.
There are others that I can't answer for, since I've never owned or played any versions:
Ulik, Amazo, Ultra-Humanite, Annihilus, Ares, Falcon... these are all figures that I've never played. Might have had one or two at one time or another, but they were either traded or passed on to someone else.
Other ones are figures that I have the older versions of, and consider them perfectly fine to the point where I have no need for the newer, carded ones. Green Goblin, Mysterio, Bane, Bullseye (Sinister Vet), Dr. Strange are all still useful for me; they don't need replacement, especially since some of the newer versions are pricey super-rares. That basically decided it for me right there. I'm not paying 15-20 dollars for a Bane SR, when the old E and V still kick plenty of ### for me. He's too overpowered for Bane imo, anyways. Green Goblin is not THAT much different from the old one that I need to replace him, and even the new sculpt can't top that old masterpiece.

Good poll topic. Ironically, I just got done sorting a bunch of figures into a "no plans to use them anymore" box.

Out of this list, though? I only marked Mandarin, Ultra-Humanite, Daredevil and Annihilus. Mostly on account that I rarely used those characters much over the years anyhow.

Huh, no Hercules for this list? Granted I wouldnt have checked him if he was. The new one is incredible, but the older one I still like to play. Cheap in points to put on a good team, pretty high damage output and an AV that matches todays standards, imo. Just kinda suprised he didnt make the list.

And while im thinking about it, if Despero were on this list, I would have tried to check it several times. I totally dislike the newer version and will never play it. The older one, which I think was in the first dc heroclix set, by far kicks the crap out of the new one. check check and check

I completely agree with this. Doomsday was the only one I checked, as I'll use the non-card options to complete various themes and teams.

I'll rarely if ever use Doomsday - so if I ever had him on a team - I would just use one of the new ones.

Interesting. More than 150 votes, yet pre-carded Doomsday is the only one the majority said they wouldn't use anymore.

I am suprised the Voting reflects that the majority so far, do not think they would play a Carded figure over a pre-Carded figure for the Characters listed. 70 out of 160 does not reflect people are taking carded figures. Must be allot of players who prefer non-carded figures over carded figures when playing Golden Age rules.
