Conncting Venues (Phase 2)

I have set myself a New Years Resolution to create a map (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&ll=32.866593,-79.971499&spn=0.016131,0.016437&z=16&msid=101696380039468655067.000495fea1b13c30dee89&mid=1293926795) & a blog (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/blog.php?u=46391&blogcategoryid=65) of all venues in the US (this is Phase 1).

I would like to thank everyone who has provided me me their venues information.

Phase 2 is the return of organized play through venue to venue team tournaments. I have several friends who are members on the realms who have offered to help. We are in the process of creating this venue to venue tournament format from scratch. I am starting this tread in order to find out who would be the contact for this proposal at Neca/Wizkids.

I am doing this because our venue had a tournament (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?t=288031) with another venue. This tournament was a lot of fun and I think it can work on a larger scale.

My goal is to post this idea mostly formed on the realms in February 2011.

The Heroclix venue finder is really outdated.I'm sorry but I still do not know of any venues in 10 states (Alabama, Connecticut, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Utah or Wyoming). As soon as I find one in any of these states I will post them in my blog I created here on the Realms. I will not stop adding to the map even though I have started work on Phase 2. I hope everyone likes Phase 2 as much as they seem to like Phase 1 and Phase 1 still is not fully formed. The map & the blog have a few more things that need to be added to have a successful finder. I am working on those also, but to meet my self imposed deadlines I need to start Phase 2.

I will post Phase 2 in February 2011 on the Realms. I just need to speak with someone at Neca/WizKids & am uncertain how to contact them.

Hey Tyroclix,

I understand your concerns, especially with gas getting to $3.00 a gallon again (that should be a thread on it's own!). What we did, though, was play a venue that was two hours away. We all carpooled and made the dates and times something that was convenient for everyone so it was only a day trip each time.

To your point, I want to go to Clix-a-Thon this weekend soooooo bad. To the point that we are going to recreate the tournament finals at our shop so we can be there in spirit; however, SC to MD is just too far. :cry:

Now, there may not be other venues within reach for everyone but I think that's where dkrmguy is starting with the map. There seems to be a good number of places where something like this can work fine.

Two, maybe three, hours might be the maximum drive time. It turns out to be a long day, a lot of fun and a GREAT experience, but still a long day nevertheless.

I told everyone I would post my idea behind this thread in February and here it is the end of February with still nothing to post. Life has just gotten in the way & the few people I have spoken with think the idea is too complicated. I will continue to work on my idea (a form of team play between venues) but it may be a while before I can post something that is not too complicated.:disappointed:

I will maintain my blog Connecting Venues (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/blog.php?b=3202) (which lists venues by state) and my Google Map (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=203817515538269358342.000495fea1b13c30dee89&ll=32.866593,-79.971499&spn=0.016203,0.015943&z=16) which will allow those of us who travel to me new players in different venues. :)
