Has anyone got any funny stories to tell when playing Tournies?
For example, I'm still a bit new to Heroclix, and in a sealed Booster Tourney last year in December. I had started collecting Clix but never played, but a tournament appeared not too far from me so I entered. From the boosters I received, I basically put together a team out of the Invisible Girl (E) and Professor X (V), then the other four were "cannon fodder" pieces. Hardly a great team, but I didn't do too badly. I had never played Heroclix at all until that Tourney - oh, I knew the rules but I really had no idea of tactics at all. However after one match, this guy came up to me and said:
"Great piece of strategy you did there, using Sue Storm to move Professor X onto that building, after that move, you completely controlled a third of the playing field"
I gave a look as if to acknowledge that I really meant it, then when he left, I turned to two other players and said:
"I hadn't got a bloody clue what I was doing".
The other guys just laughed.
OK, maybe not that funny, but I wondered if anyone had any funny stories to tell when they've played at Tourneys. Anyone?
(Oh and btw, my tactics have improved greatly since then. Now I have a small idea of what I'm doing!! *laughs*)
