View Full Version : What's the worst you've done?

Let's admit we've all done transactions we've either regretted or know the other person got the better deal. That doesn't mean we weren't happy; we just paid too much or accepted a loss.

The worst I can think of is trading a Thanos I bought for $30 for a promo Batman that dooesn't seem to be worth anything.

The next worst thing is probably buying a Nightcrawler for $40 off ebay, but I don't see that so bad; I paid $25 for an LE , sold that on ebay and basically used the winnings to payfor the Nightcrawler.

How about you?

Well, I didn't get the Nightcrawler and I'm a little relived.

Somebody else has got to have a story. I doubt we'll make fun of you....least I won't.

Um, a friend and I split a collection. We've never paid for anything but packs of IC, a case of DC (plus the occassional shelf pack), and a case of CT (plus 6 shelf packs). Between that and tournies, we have a full+ set of IC, missing 4 tradable LEs, the 2 harder to get marquee, and of course Banner and Creed... we've got a full+ set of DC, with all LEs, minus Michael Jon Carter (the Booster Gold 1st prize marquee), and a full+ set of CT with 8-10 LEs so far, including both Marquees. We've never paid much past cases/packs, and some tournament fees that went towards booster drafts. Between trades, booster drafts at tournies, and tournie prizes themselves, no need to.

Well, let's put it this way...

All of you who don't have Arthur Curry can start getting excited, because I guarantee the price is coming down.

I finally bought one.

Whenever I actually break down and pay for a figure, there's an 80% chance that the price will drop dramatically immediately after I receive it. Often immediately after I pay for it.

I'm also fairly impatient when it comes to getting new figures. Not so impatient that I'm bidding on XPlosion auctions, mind you, but impatient enough that I chase down LEs as soon as they start appearing. There, I don't feel quite as bad... yes, I know that George Tarleton is going for half of what I paid for him, but it was worth it just to keep myself from going "#### it, if only I had one!"

And no, I won't say how much I spent for Curry. I already jinxed thigns enough. ;)

Sundancer - Does it really matter if the Thanos you traded is worth more then the Promo Batman? If you like the batman better and/or use it more then you made a good deal. Why do so many people measure trades they make on how much the figures are worth?

well the stupidest thing i've done was pay 25 for vision, he's alot cheaper now. Right now am feeling pretty bad because whenever I buy a booster i pull dupes. three boosters tonight and nada what waste of cash.

Actually I was going by fun value too.

I do agree that sometimes peopledon't place enough "fun" value when considering trades.

I personally don't care about the monetary value of my figs, last week I traded an E Thor and E Firelord for a R and E Mr. Fantastic, just so I could complete my FF team. Heck, right now on the trading posts I'm offering 53 clix for 1 U Vision ! hah ! Too many people are way too concerned about getting "screwed" on a bad deal, if I have something they want and they have something I want then its a good deal, regardless of rarity or value. Its just a game, its meant to be fun.
