Gambit...the best figure in X-PLOSION!

Thank God Gambit is in this set. And let me tell you what a great figure he is!!! Stealth.EE.Perplex,and RCE are the best powers for him. Also, with a 17 defense. Amazing superhero (my favorite) and an amazing dial. He would kick @$$ if he had less KO's. Oh, and for the record he has perplex because of his mutant ability charm. I would like to see your responses guys for the best fig in X-Plosion!:D

First I'm just really happy he's here, I think they also made him quite well, he's not the most powerful guy and even though I would have made him a lot better (I'd be biased to an extent, can't help it). I think he'll be a playable character while in stealth he can't shoot to far but he can perplex, plus if you can get in a nice hit with his 2+RCE or a nice EE he'll hopefully do enough damage to be worth his cost.

Gambit is my favorite character. The only problem I have with the Gambit clix is that he only has 1 lightning bolt, I think that Gambit should have definately had 2 bolts with EE. Oh well, he is still cool...

Shadowcat has been around since I was a young man and she was a Teenager. Still remember when xmen had a series where Professor X wanted her in the New Mutants. I had to get those issue's just becuase of that. Mmmmmmm Shadowcat.

Veteran Psylocke is a quality figure. If only she had more than just stealth to cover her, um.... backside.

Lots of EE on the X-men means lots of friends for Psylocke.

She's got pretty decent offensive punch (damage never goes below 2, AV bottoms at 7), plus Stealth and 8 range.

She was part of S.T.R.I.K.E, so she could thematically fit onto a SHIELD team, and inspire those troopers.

She can be Lady Mandarin and make his 12 range Incapacitates more effective, as well as chop up anyone that comes near.

I have to admit that they did a good job with Gambit. He's not what I was hoping for, but he's an accurate representation so I'm not complaining (I was hoping for multiple targets and running shot on at least one version).

Gambit's cool, but he's definitely not my favourite. Basically, I would have liked Gambit to be more along the lines of a Bommerang with Running Shot, since that's the sort of figure I need for my playing style :) Considering how he actually came out, I'd probably play Vet Mystique over him most of the time.

As far as favourite X-Men go, I'd have to go for Psylocke as well, but only because I just read that she was linked to SHIELD, which is my favourite team to play. I used to like Wolverine a lot, back in the brown-costume days. Y'know .... in the 80s, when he was the only X-Man that didn't suck.

No, Psylocke is better because she doesn't have characters that perfom the same essential features of her for the same cost or less. Mystique does the "stealthed shooter" thing better than Gambit, and she has a team ability I'd be more likely to use. And she's more common of a figure. And if you just want the EE, Boom-Boom/Meltdown has it at the same range, same number of targets for half price. Of course, her attack is 1 lower, but whatever. She's half price, wha'dya expect? But then again, there's always Pyro too. Anywhoo, I just think that whatever you want to do with Gambit, there are almost always other, better, options. The only time I would use Gambit would most likely be if I was playing and all X-Men/all Good Guy team. Although I do understand that Gambit is good because he does both. But honestly, I can't see myself using Energy Explosion with a 6 range and 1 target enough to want to pay for a whole dial of it, but I'm sure he's great for some people .... just not me.

On the other hand, I like Psylocke because she's as cheap as Enhancement gets. It's not like there are too many other options for what she does. And if previous posters were correct, then she has SHIELD ties, and will be perfect to play with my favourite team.

Best Sculpted Figure in the Set = Iceman

Most powerfull figure in the Set = Mandarin

Most short-changed fig in the Set = Apocalypse

(Iron Man represents the 3rd version of the character, as witnessed by the facemask, so is not shortchanged. If this was the "classic" Avengers Iron Man, or the one from Armour Wars, then I would say he was more shortchanged than Apocalypse...)

This sets "Nightcrawler" = Unique Shadowcat with Lockheed.

I think the thing that makes Gambit good is that while he doesn't particularly excel in anything, he's quite versatile and very tricky.

As far as Mystique vs. Gambit. They are very similar, but I think Gambit is the better offensive piece while Mystique is the better supporter. Gambit's Stealth lasts twice as long as Mystique's at Vet, and he has EE through the whole dial. They both start w/ 2 damage and perplex. Mystique keeps Perplex for longer, Gambit gets RCE, and has the potential of dealing 4 damage on his second click, while Mystique can keep perplexing.

Another thing to factor in is Gambit's slightly better defense throughout the dial. Based on the online games I've played, Gambit is pretty difficult to hit with the average character, because, if you play him right, he'll more than likely hit the opponent on their way to him, and by time they get there, their attack will be too low to be able to land reliable hits on Gambit's 17 defense.

Gambit's longer lasting Stealth also allows him to sneak back to a medic more reliably than Mystique. Once Mystique is hit for 2 clicks, she can be very easy to take out on the way back to safety, since she loses stealth. Gambit can cause a bit more of a problem.

Another plus with Gambit is that due to the X-Men team ability, he can keep switching between his 2 damage/Perplex click and his 2 damage/RCE click.

This argument I realize is very one-sided. I just think that Gambit is the more consistant and reliable piece than Mystique.

Somebody who thinks the opposite, please put your input in this. I love a good debate. :D

Yeah, Gambit's stats rock, especially when playing against DC!
Batman will have a hard time hitting him because of that 17 defense! (and they call bats a martial arts expert!) And Superman's defense will surely go down (16 to 15?) when he sees gambit, why? beacuse he's "charmed" by him...

Hey, I must admit, Gambit is the most effective figure in X-Plosion if he is used right. He is a great team player with his perplex. Keep him in stealth and just start blasting away. Not to mention, he is very hard to hit considering he has a 17 defense. Energy Explosion the whole way through to give a click to a group of 4 people (and don't lie, we all taxi people around and tend to group them.) Now i'm not saying that Gambit could take a team out by himself, but with a well constructed team, he can do alot of damage.

ALso, Mystique has the Brotherhood team ability, which puts the X-ability to shame. You're using actions to more Gambit around, while she's just doing it on her own.

i used the vet gambit, storm vet, and vet psylocke combo to destroy thanos in a game had psylocke up gambits dmg gambit perplex his av and blast thanos for 4 dmg plus i rolled a crit hit then storm hit thanos for 4 dmg it was nice....:cool:

Sadly, you made an illegal move with the Gambit/Psylocke combo. RCE can't be used with RCE, RCE cannot be used in combination with any power, even those of other figures. You could use EE with Enhancement and do 2 splash damage, but not RCE.

Gambit Perplexed up his 2 Attack Value since he has Perplex on the first kliq and not RCE. Used Enhancemnt to get it to 3 and Critted making it 4 damage.

I love using Gambit. He also has stealth. One of the things you can do is pair him with a taxi to drag him back to a medic if he gets injured. Another thing you can do if you are using a house map is (The X-Mansion), move your medic behind a wall with a R Shadow Cat. Place medic on the other side of the general vicinity that Gambit is. Since Shadow Cat has phasing, she can taxi Medic to Gambit and vice versa. It might be a pain if Remy gets hit, but, over all, the Rajun Cajun rocks!
