Here's a link (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2969347&postcount=1) to an old list of rules. Nothing much has changed.

In keeping with the whole Six theme, the Mafia is based on the Sinister Six. The town consists of some of the Birds of Prey characters who survived the first game (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?t=295002) as well as some Marvel reruits and a few randoms. The official alignment is "BoE".

Introduction:

The small group of heroes huddled in their lair to lick their wounds and mourn the loss of their fallen companions. The war had taken its toll on all parties involved, and they needed time to heal their mental, physical and emotional wounds. But the life of a hero leaves no time for such things. A flash of light left a short balding man in a suit standing in front of them. He explained that a reality existed where a number of villains had taken over a major city. These villains had managed to kill off any hero who attacked or posed a threat to them, and they were on the brink of world domination. Then the short man's voice went silent mid sentence. A look of confusion came over his face before he disappeared altogether. The heroes exchanged various looks.

Minutes later, the room was washed in a bright pink light that slowly faded. When the heroes' eyes adjusted they realized they were in a strange pink castle seemingly made of crystal. A long haired man covered in paint and blood was slumped in a chair in front of a console. His head was adorned with a tribal band and his wrist encapsulated by a large gold bracelet with a hefty red gem in the center. The man gasped for air as he rapidly explained that the short man was merely a projection and that he was the puppeteer behind it. He was hoping to conserve his energy by transporting these heroes directly to the world he'd described, but the palace was in need of repair after an attack by a bald lunatic. He'd only barely made it back from the Sinister reality with his life. He hurriedly asked them to help boost the ranks of the dwindling hero population in an effort to thwart these Sinister villains. Sadly, he expired before they could agree to help. sstralkowski is dead. He was Forge.

After a few hours of chaos, the group figured out how to perform the palace's most basic functions. The spectacled woman addressed the team. "Look, we don't really know what we're walking into, but we've been behind the eight ball before. As long as we stick together, we'll be fine. Now I think I've figured out how to send you all to this reality that guy told us about. I want this to be a quick mission. I beam you down there, you kick butt, and we all go home. Of course that's provided I can figure out how to make that happen." *sigh* The woman tapped away at the alien computer with a furrowed brow for a few seconds before looking up. "Be safe, guys. I'll keep in touch."

And with that, the band of injured heroes disappeared again and reappeared in the middle of a war torn city where their field leader was grabbed and urged to quickly hide the group. "Follow me," the stranger whispered as they all vanished into the shadows.

Yes and no.

Following Schroedinger, one might argue that everyone in a mafia game exists in a state in which they are both simultaneously mafia and town, until such time as their box is opened and their true existential state is revealed.

Following Schroedinger, one might argue that everyone in a mafia game exists in a state in which they are both simultaneously mafia and town, until such time as their box is opened and their true existential state is revealed.

From my understanding of physics, which is limited, Schroedinger's cat is an example used to critique the idea (in the original case, the Copenhagen interpretation) that something can occupy two, distinct states simultaneously. The thought that the cat when tied to the state of a subatomic particle could also be considered to be in a "blurred state", being both alive and dead, is seemingly ridiculous. So it seems that it is equally ridiculous to say that a particle simultaneously occupies two points in a "blurred state".

However would agree that it is fair to assume that the cat is just as likely to be dead, as it is to be alive when finally observed. So until we lynch someone they can neither be consider town nor mafia, and the percent chance of either being true would depend on the inputs. In this case, I believe (according to normal mafia distribution) that each player stands a 25% chance of being mafia and a 75% chance of being town.

I know that I most likely got something wrong, as it has been awhile since I've done anything involving physics. But that's my understanding of Schroedinger's Cat.

Magnito voted for me because of a vendetta.

I'm not 100% convinced either, but it does seem odd that a dead character from the last game would show up here, especially considering what the initial writeup says:
In keeping with the whole Six theme, the Mafia is based on the Sinister Six. The town consists of some of the Birds of Prey characters who survived [URL="http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?t=295002"]the first game (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2969347&postcount=1) as well as some Marvel reruits and a few randoms. The official alignment is "BoE".
The only category Huntress would fit in is "a few randoms"...

That said, I'll remove my vote if MSU claims more than just a name.

Did Huntress DIE or did she leave the game?

She was janitored. Darq already posted her death scene:
Yep, killed Night 2:

The ship swooped down from orbit unleashing a barrage of fire and death upon it's unsuspecting victim. People ran around in a panic, screaming and crying as an entire city block was destroyed in a matter of seconds. Captain Nifty and countless other civilians are either dead or missing in the rubble...

*grabs MSU's cheeks*

no no no...HOW was she janitored? Pax just said, some people didn't DIE in the last game but they were removed from the game.

For instance, Mr. Toad, in Disney, never "dies" - usually if Mr. Toad is lynched or killed, I come in and save him while insulting the rest of the players, but the player is still removed from the game.

I'd say that you co-modded the first game but are now a player in the second one. So unless you have inside knowledge of how Stan designed the current game and know for a fact that CaptainNifty/Huntress survived being blasted and buried under rubble, I can only go by the meaning that I read in the quote.

If you know for a fact that Huntress survived the janitored hit and Stan included her as a role in this game, please come out and say so.

This is a Stan game. For all we know the Klingon Spaceship retrieved Huntress' corpse from the rubble and sold it to the Borg so that she could be reanimated and fitted with a prehensile tail. If that is the case and MSU is indeed town, my apologies and regrets.

However, since this is Day 1, I prefer to keep it simple. There is no preferrence involved.

My position is that, given that this is D1, I can only go by what we see in the prior game's write-up. And unless you know for a fact that Huntress survived the hit, I can only guess that she did not. The janitored death invalidates MSU's role claim for the current game. Because if Stan did REALLY include Huntress as a town role, it pretty much hoses anyone who tries to use the claim.

My post is honest thank you very much. I gave 3 possibilities, so of course not all of them are going to be my real reason.

I am a pretty negative guy. Im not being dishonest about being glass half full. I dont think its poor game play either. 50/50 shot for mafia on day one is actually great odds. Especially because if it does turn out to be the 50% that he is a townie, there will likely be scum on the train.

I also do have a vendetta against MSU, but I'd prefer not to do anything about it here. Id rather wait until the next 100 bullets game.

At any rate, me throwing out an assertion of "i think msu is lying" without real proof, is not really necessarily going to catch any train jumpers at this point, due to the discussion about it and due to chirocker pointing out the "missing" part.

I'm not saying he's lying. I've still not yet gone back and read the roles from the previous thread (gonna do that here in a minute).

Completely not how I read it ...

Rather than "Keep in mind Town Doctor, I possess secret knowledge!" as a plea to the random, unnamed Town Doctor to protect him, I read it as "Keep in mind, Town Doctor, I possess secret knowledge!" which would mean that the person he was addressing was the Town Doctor and he was revealing it as an example of the secret knowledge he possesses.

That would make him Scum, as diverting the town's doctor by lying about one's role in order to protect oneself from death and eliminate protection for the Townies is a scum tell.

Particularly if the Mafia also had a reverse tracker and targetted him the same night so as to tell who the Town's Doctor was so they'd know who to kill or roleblock.

You get bumped up the list to. This is awesome.

Yes, Pax, we know that the discussion is all about you.

Like you don't like being a neutral and messing with people's heads, you little Strawberry.

Sweet, I made someone's list.

Pax, I just don't believe you because I think Stan wouldn't be that stupid or unfair to the rest of us. I don't think you have access to anything privileged that the rest of us couldn't get by re-reading the last game. The only difference is that you may have a source where all that info is compiled in a nice, tidy package.

I think you're asking for some doctoring because you're playing an angle. I haven't made my mind up about your alignment yet.

Well yeah, tv huntress (me). Are you saying that MSU is really the tv huntress? Because I feel like he would have said that.

Are you actively ignoring my posts or just not reading when I said I was helena berinelli?

It's Ber-ti-nelli, Shirley.

And I will believe you for now.

I see how we are taking personal feelings into this game.

Scum monitor: Vevilaughs

comes in, says nothing, votes nothing, leaves - scum is keeping low right now and that is who we should look for. Why should they say anything when the focus is on me?

Helena Kyle would probably have been a stronger claim...

I still love being remembered for that role :) If I ever play that well again I'll be amazed. I've only come close once.

I do have access to privileged info.

Consider it part of my role if it makes you feel better :)

If I'm a Vigilante I'm killing you tonight.

This is an awful post Jacin :) No power plays until you get back into fighting shape.
You're not a Vigilante, and I'm not either.

And, while I know I'm rusty, I'm definitely still up for the fight and, really, you're doing nothing to make me think you're not scum.

That's how you know I'm town and thus, you'll not only be distracting the town doctor toward yourself so that you can reverse track them and kill them later, but also getting another member of the town to do your dirty work for you by Vig-killing a townie.

My vote stays ... unless it's needed to hammer your scum-buddy, MSU. ;)
