Not much to add to that.

Not especially dynamic or exciting, but I'm always up for another potentially useful generic. The flight will be an asset.

A straight PAC-driven dial disappoints me, though I'm even moreso feeling the lack of a Minion ability/Trait of some sort. I'm guessing the intent (from the comics) is to have these operate more as surprise operatives, acting independently.

Edit: I do want to thank them for bringing us two of the generics this week. Knowing I'll be seeing 3 or 4 of these each at the case level is a good.

I actually think this figure could be very useful. A natural damage 3 with super strength and since it has invul it makes for a pretty good tie up piece. Its actually refreshing at this point to see a figure without multiple white powers and traits. Remember guys there was a time when none of these crazy Sp's and traits even existed. Also, its only a damn common haha so i mean not every figure can be busting at the seams.

01/21/2011, 09:44
Hmm. It looks a lot like Karima, which is kind of curious. I'd assume that there would be a non-generic Karima Sharpandar click and a generic Omega Sentinel, but this piece has her color coordination hair and skin color to a T.

Interesting.

Well you know how much NECA loves to reuse sculpts so odds are we are going to get another one easily.

Im going to pair these guys up with Omacs for a Robot Drafted theme team.

It also pleases me when characters who aren't special don't have any special powers. I hate when generics have 'special powers'..

Well I mean, that's sorta my point. Sculpt looks reusable, but that paint job is -exactly- what Karima's would be. I don't see them copying paint jobs :p

Well, its a generic Sentinel...the dial is just ok in my mind, the powers are nice, but I was hoping that sculpt would actually represent the character depicted on it, Maybe an LE???

Anyways generic Prime Sentinels make me think we will see a new Bastion in this set.

Eh, I see it more as some people don't like figures that require some outside finagling to work optimally.

I see them as perfect mobile protective turrets for pretty much any (qualifying) Mastermind fig in the game. This is the ULTIMATE robot bodyguard!

Hell, I might have to find me some spare Furys and make a bunch of LMDs!

Another example of, "Beautiful portrait, WTF paint job"

Very interesting piece. I kind of wish the 'sleeper agent' part of the character would have been incorporated with an activation click and then some beefy 2nd click.

Its not the most interesting piece i've ever seen. And the fig looks terrible compared to the rendering on the inset. But it seems like a very capable piece. Potential front loaded 5 damage, some decent damage reducing, shape change and good mobility. Certainly worth it's points. The only downside i see to the piece really is she is the same points and keyword as M-11. Which then begs the question; when would I ever use her over M-11? I would be happier if she was a different point value, any different at all..just so she will fit into different teams than him potentially.

BLACKHEART25
01/21/2011, 10:09
I love the character and the hope that Bastion will most likely be one of the Super rares.

Still, my only gripe is the sculpt it represents. I love Karima and this ain't her. Karima's first outfit would've suited much better to these prime sentinels since they're basically robots with human skin. A robot "busting" outta some skin would've been more accurate to what this is supposed to represent. A minor gripe is all. Everything else is pretty refreshing and the scuplt is amazing.

At least though, we may get her as a LE character with the real name.

@MegaLotusMan M-11 and Omega prime sentinel are 2 totally different characters. I'm not sure when you would use one over the other, but for comic accuracy or even for fun, you use M-11 as a single entity while Omega sentinel is grouped. Not to mention the good vs. bad guy aspect.

I like those clean, old school dials with no special powers. I love special powers, but I hate the tend that everyone has one.

That being said, I probably still won't use her since that entire era of late 90's x-men was pretty forgettable.

Fredwood
01/21/2011, 10:21
pretty good for 59 points 5 damage potential plus Invuln and Shape change to give some staying power, already seems like good mastermind fodder. Dissapointed about the lack of a TA

I'll want to get a handful of them, I know they're all "robots" but I would have liked to have seen a Sentinel Keyword for the chance at an ATA.

With this being a generic too (not specifically Karima) does that mean we have a good chance of getting her as an LE.

maddragon13
01/21/2011, 10:23
I'm kinda suprized to see this figure. Never thought we's get the Omega Prime Sentinals.

And I'd say it's a safe bet that we'll get Karima Shapander as either and Uncommon or as an LE.

A lot of people on the Realms thought DC75 Johnny Quick was bad when he was previewed. Oh, he has an activation click, boo-hoo! If Hypersonic Speed and Perplex for 50 measly points isn't enough to get some people on here excited, a fast-ish taxi and tie-up piece with shape change and invuln on the first click doesn't stand a chance.

Why does it have to be an LE named Karima Shapandar? Its not like we never get common generics then uncommon or rare named version (Sgt. Rock, Ruling Caste Dominator, Queen Aga'Po, and Solovar) I hope they keep with the trend that DC 75th set. I like the named version of generics, but I would rather they stay out of my LE slots.

There's a chance we could see a cool ability from the (likely) Uncommon or LE that gives them some kind of bonus. Like Sgt. Rock did in DC75.

Perfect Master Mind fodder. (Taxi, Invul, Regen)

Definitely.

The only downside i see to the piece really is she is the same points and keyword as M-11. Which then begs the question; when would I ever use her over M-11?

Because:
a) What Puuka said.
b) She has damage reducers AND shape change that M-11 doesn't.
c) She is a generic and thus can be used in multiples (in venues that have a Highlander style rule)
d) She fits a theme better than M-11.

DrZero
01/21/2011, 11:16
Which then begs the question; when would I ever use her over M-11?

Use her along with M-11 to let him base an opposing figure, while she stays 2 squares away and snipes. That's 118 points of solid synergy going on right there.

OZT holds a special place in my heart as the story that got me back into comics. My wife bought me the first issues to cheer me up after having a rough start to second year in university. I have been back into comics ever since, and it has really helped define the nerdy adult that I am now.

My wallet hurts just thinking about this set and how I must own at least 5 of those sentinels.

I hope so...I hope we at least get new Vampire generics and a much needed Dracula to fight a newly needed Captain Britian (and hopefully the rest of the unmade MI13 and new Black Knight).

Even though Im curious if we get a non vamp Jubilee...will she be powered, vamped, or New Warriored (Super Strength, incap, pym particles and gadgets)

Of course both her as a New Warrior and Vamp have been drawn by Medina who thanks to his art work got her the nick name...

"Boobilee" which will be a funny Power Girl mod.

This is a nifty surprise.

I like the crispness of the sculpt. Size looks small but pretty decent overall.

I also like the simplicity and straightforwardness of the dial. Perfect for a generic.

Seems we are getting a lot of generics in this 50-60 point range. I think a friend of mine who is trying to hone a Robot keyword team will enjoy a few cheaper pieces that can really harass.

Nice preview. Only wish there was some kind of non-generic keyword (like Sentinel or something) with the Robot just to give them a more unique flavor for future ATA's, Feats, or whatever...

01/21/2011, 12:15
Very nice! I hope the sculpts look as good in hand as they do in the preview pic. I would have liked the Force Blast up front instead of mid-dial but that's a minor quibble and just a personal preference. I really like the combo of Shape Change and Invulnerability on those first two clicks. Yeah, like someone said earlier, it's kinda like having a form of Impervious. Ultron's definitely going to enjoy this piece.

Oh, and in Golden Age she's gonna be great with Nanobots to get her back to the top of her dial...

01/21/2011, 12:26
Great dial for the points. Using Camouflage will be thematic, given the Omega Prime's status as sleeper agent.

The sculpt and paint job makes her look like a Falconette; If the "supervillain lackey" business doesn't pan out, she could try out for the NFL as a walk-on.

01/21/2011, 12:48
M-11 would beatdown this figure every time.

Hardly. Flight base and slight movement edge gives her possibilities; while it doesn't quite offset all that Willpower M-11 sports, it makes for M-11's player having to work to get in range or base her. Although not as deep in the dial, she comes with damage reducers, better than M-11 can say, and Shapechange to boot. SC won't save her every time, but every time it leaves M-11 hanging in the open, it should cost him. M-11 has a better consistent AV, and he does get the edge because of that. But this figure gets to take along someone else to the fight as a carry.

It largely comes down to an alpha strike between the two, and the numbers favor M-11, powers favor the Sentinel. Pretty danged fair fight, if you ask me.

ctrosejr
01/21/2011, 13:18
About 9 points over costed if I was looking for a "wow" reaction. As is, it seems like a good fig with a lot of good possibilities. It's a nice generic.

MegaLotusMan
01/21/2011, 13:28
All I meant is that its an unnecessary coincidence that she is the same point value as M-11. I would have preferred it if she opened up new build totals to Robot themed teams. Not that she has no use since M-11 exists or something. But as it stands now when I build a robot team I have no new options except for what i want 59 points to do. Which simply would have been nice.

She even, like M-11, lends herself to the not so special feat. So in that case they are both 62.

saturnflight
01/21/2011, 13:34
I love that, if Karima's in the set too, this one provides a second (probably) lower-cost version that will fit more teams. The X-men used to be big on numbers, but point cost rises have made it hard to run a full strike team. 59 points is very affordable to squeeze in a relatively minor member of the X-men circa Children of the Vault. I already have Cable and Cannonball modded for that story, and the new Mystique should look the part. Iceman is always in proper attire... now we just need green hood Rogue, Lady Mastermind, and trenchcoat Sabretooth.

01/21/2011, 13:36

Rock, Ruling Caste Dominator, Queen Aga'Po, and Solovar) I hope they keep with the trend that DC 75th set. I like the named version of generics, but I would rather they stay out of my LE slots.

The difference is that those four characters are leaders of the generics. Karima is not a leader of the other Omega Primes.

So yeah, she should be an LE. If only to keep more unique sculpts in the actual boosters.

This set is going to be Sentinel Crazy.

How many variations will we see?

My guess is at least 6.

Yes there were swarms of Omega Prime Sentinels. You have to go back to 1997 in the main X-titles (not X-Treme) to see the epic moment when Bastion activated people getting 'free health care' into Sentinels. Chilling.

Omega Sentinel is a remnant of that time.

It largely comes down to an alpha strike between the two, and the numbers favor M-11, powers favor the Sentinel. Pretty danged fair fight, if you ask me.

Good points; fair enough. The willpower with a natural 18 is nice, too. You're right about the taxi-factor, though.

I'd have to see more of the set to make a better opion on this piece, a good piece for Mastermind obviously.

Omega Prime Sentinel, my name Peggy, you have problem?

 I love those commercials. ("USA Prime Credit, my name Peggy")

Now all my Prime Sentinels will be known as Peggys!

A decent character at best, definitely outclassed by HA M-11.

The :m-wing: is the best part; it really can't be found on the "Robot" keyword for this cost.

Invuln + Shape Change is nice, and the damage potentially is relatively sturdy.

Weaknesses are a short dial and jumpy stats.

All in all, a decent character; needs :a-sharpshooter: or :d-indomitable: or Minions of Doom TA or something to improve her. Would've been much better at 50 points.

I have my up and downs about her but she can be a beast in the right teams. if they make a LE will it have the x-men ta?

Neat. These with Nimrod and Phalanx's with Ultron would make a super robot team!

(Does this mean we'll get Nimrod again?)

Doubtful because we'll probably get Bastion, which I'm eagerly anticipating.

This is one character I know nothing about. Glad to see that some are excited about it, and it will give me a reason to research the character(s).

Generics are always welcome.

The figure itself looks like it came right out of the Indy set, what with the paint colors and costume.

I think this piece also might be a little undercosted based on the powers it's sporting.

Decent figure. Good sculpt. Here's hoping some leader gives her special powers ala Sgt. Rock.

After seeing the poster I hope the LE is Karima because this dial doesn't represent her at all.

Sculpt's not bad. Karima Shapandar and all, but that's awfully underpowered for a prime sentinel.

Well, we know what one of the LE's are going to be now.

It's an OK figure, Was never crazy for the character as a whole to begin with, but I Think this guarantees a new Bastion and I'm cool with that. Looks like Ultron gets a new robot lady in his harem along with Ultimate Vision, Danger, and Jocasta.

<In a perfect world>
TK in. Tie up and smash. Repeat. Rest. Force blast into a wall. Chips are down now. Psychic blast from 6. If you're lucky enough to land on regen, roll a six. Start it all over again.

All for 59 points? Lot of pessimists out there.

bingo. how can you not like MM fodder that can keep taking a lickin and potentially keep on tickin? ;)

A straight PAC-driven dial disappoints me, though I'm even moreso feeling the lack of a Minion ability/Trait of some sort. I'm guessing the intent (from the comics) is to have these operate more as surprise operatives, acting independently.

Disagree whole-heartedly. If we aren't going to bother using the standard powers and abilities, what's the point of having them? I'm fine with having a few special powers, but I don't like every figure having them. There's still a place in heroclix for standard powers and standard dials.

Great! A nice figure without any over-complicated special powers. I love how the sculpt looks like Karima so this piece can stand in as a generic Omega sentinel or as Karima on my marauders or X-men teams! I'm guessin a LE is going to be coming though!

Other potential LE's:

Hellfire Guard - Wade Cole (To go with the rest of the Reavers)
Purifier - Reverend Craig
Emma Frost - Diamond Form Emma
Caliban - Alternative power set to whatever we get in the set

Any others that people think we'll see?

Now I know where to put all my old sentinel troopers sculpts.....

That occurred to me, too. They're a bit slight, but they at least look more like Sentinels than this shape-shifter, and it isn't as if I ever used any of those Ultimates ones anyway. Even the veteran dials weren't good for much more than airlift potential -- from back in the day when they would Carry and still go their full Speed.
