Just a suggestion: Any possible way to temporarily disable the ability for new users to post pics until they reach a certain number of posts?
I just reported a thread in the new user forum where the spammer inserted some x-rated pics in the post, in addition to a ton of links. Stupid spammers!

It should be possible to disable image links in the New Member Forum/Spambot Killzone forum at least...

I've personally thought that there should be a post limit before you can start a new thread as well. Would kind of kibosh some of the trading scams that happen??
They shouldn't be able to post photos in there since bbcode and html are disabled in there.
I've isolated the issue to that new members (<1 post) can't post images, but that doesn't mean the code still isn't being put in there. Then when they get that 1 post in; they are converted to Registered users, which makes the images appear. I am going to look into fixing this.

New issue came up just now: Links.
Just reported a spammer who posted links in GD and this forum. Perhaps the ability to post links can be negated for new users until they reach XX post count/length of time on the boards? If this is a viable option, then I'd also suggest not revealing that magic number. Only the big guy (Typhon) should know.
Love this site and am willing to do my part to eliminate spammers!

Yep, that's the user posting links. I've reported three posts already (and posted in the thread that I've reported the posts so that folks are aware).

glad to see the mods online so this can be fixed. this may be the first time not being a paying member saved me from something. :cross-eye
to the mods does it help to have the user names sent to you or posted in the thread or do you know the thread and user attached to it?

Typhon, any chance of giving Spike or another trustworthy realmser the ability to kill these threads? We have some people who are on most days who wouldn't abuse the power. Just limit them to only being able to close spam threads. The way this is going you could use some extra eyes.

I also nominate Spike, they are on even more than I am

I appreciate the votes of confidence but I would have to defer to the mods already in place. I see that a few mods are online right now.

The mods have their hands full often enough stopping pissing matches. I just think a person who's only role is to kill spam threads would be a good idea. Wasn't trying to single you out Spike, you just seem to live here. ;)

Killing spam threads takes like 5 seconds.
I heart the "Delete as spam" function.
