Good thing I'm a retired Catholic, or I'd be in big trouble after that double cheeseburger I had for lunch. Lent, feh. My parents made me give up my Genesis for lent once, and I think that what pushed into atheism. Nothing that came between me and my 16 bits of gaming bliss could be truly good for me.

So what is everyone (read as two other people on this board) giving up for lent?

I'm going the distance. No carbonated soft-drinks. No chocolate. No um.. yeah... with anyone... or by myself. She thinks it's funny and that I'll crack by tomorrow. I think it bites and that she is making it ten times harder than it should be (pun not intened, but it is) but, I'll give it a try.

I am giving up eBay for Lent, but I'm not Catholic. I give something up anyway. Ebay to me is like chocolate to y'all.

Meh, i don't celebrate Lent anymore. I'm Catholic, but have recently renounced my religion....too many loop-holes in the "big plan" for following Catholocism. Payin the church money to "buy grandma outta Purgatory", that's a laugh. But it's whatever floats yer boat i guess, I've found a new religion that's based on fact rather than fiction....


But that's just my thoughts :D

My most memorable Lent was the year I gave up my girlfriend.

No, seriously. I'd been trying to break up with her for a few weeks, but she wasn't getting it. So come Ash Wednesday I told her I was giving her up for Lent. She didn't take it well (big surprise) and actually picked up a knife to come at me with (okay, now that was a surprise). She's had therapy since then and is doing much better.

Reminds me of my college days (at Gonzaga, a Jesuit university) when there would be a massive load of calls to Domino's about that time Friday night so the meaty pizzas would get there just after midnight.

These days meatless Fridays are so easy because there are so many vegetarian 'fake' meats out there. Want tacos? Using fake meat crumbles tastes just like regular tacos. Boca burgers, Morningstar sausages...so many more options than the old "Mac n' cheese or fishsticks?" of my youth.
