View Full Version : Mid Project Poll #2. Which fan dials do you like the best? (please read then vote)

For the ease of the voters, all the dials in 1 location.

So far, I have 19 contestants that have entered my World's Finest Challenge (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?t=300453) (still taking submissions). This poll is to gauge what the community thinks of these dials so far and hopefully to generate more constructive criticism from the rest of the community. Please follow each link and review each dial before voting in this poll. After that, vote on these criteria:

1) Which World's Finest do you think work best together?
2) Which World's Finest do you think best represent the characters?
3) Which World's Finest would you play the most?
4) Does X's Superman function better or worse with X's Batman?
5) Does X's Batman function better or worse with X's Superman?

(some of these dials are duo's, so bend 1, 4, and 5 to fit).

Also, keep this quote in mind:

So I guess what I'm saying is this...As a critic, I'm looking for dials that when the two of them are played together:

• they comprise a well rounded complete team, adding up to 300 or 400 points.
• without adding additional characters, they function well together as a solid force.
• since they are a two man team, and cannot ever get a "theme team" bonus from a "world's Finest" keyword, since they would need at least 3 dials (thereby defeating the two man theme of the WF) be able to present a synergistic play-style that is a match for the level of advantage theme teams are going to have over them.
• Creative dials and powers
• interesting thematic twists that solidify which incarnation of the World's Finest Team, or an alternate version of the Team that they are representing.

These are just the criteria that I am personally judging on, and I am certainly not the final say on the matter.

After you have voted, please leave feedback as to why you chose the dials you did, what you liked about the dial you chose, and what you think the weakest dials need to do to become better. Also, helping us cost the dials would be nice.

Do not vote solely on which dial you think is most powerful. There is a great range of dial power here, and each dial accurately represents (or at least is very close) the character, and various point values are good for versatility (you can't put a 400 point Superman on a 300 point team...)

Also, do not vote if you have not reviewed these dials, as many have changed quite drastically from the last poll. Please give these careful thought so the designers can use the info to their advantage.

I've submitted only 2 in the past 2 years, but I think my dials represent comic accuracy, lack of fanboyism, and playability. Check them out in the dreams and desires section. I have dials for Max Lord and Daredevil. I'd post links but I'm using my phone.

The Contest is still open for new dials to join.

Cutoff for contest entry is January 29th 11:59pm EST. You do not need to submit a dial by this point, just claimed a spot.

Dials can can still be submitted and edited (by those who have already joined the contest) until February 5th 11:59pm EST, at which point all dials are final, and point values need to be close.

Voting will last from the submission cutoff point to February 12th 11:59pm EST, at which point the judges will deliberate over the ballots.

The ballots will be more complex than this poll, and the person with the most (quantity) votes is not guaranteed to win. Instead, the person with the most (quality) votes will be the winner, and will win customs of their figured with dials and Character Cards. 2nd and 3rd place will receive their custom dials and cards as well.

And maybe breaking this up into a couple of different voting blocks? It's hard to remember/compare more than a dozen new dials at once. Cool project, though!

Thank you for these suggestions, I will make a new poll in a few days or so keeping these in mind.

After looking through all the dials McFayne takes the cake for me, very good representation of the characters while also not supporting wall to wall powers. I think your Superman is excellent, I'm just questioning the "There's always hope" prob control, I really like strikeJP's use of the freezebreath part of this power: [Damage - Going All Out/ Freeze Breath: Superman can use Ranged Combat Expert, Quake, Force Blast, and Incapacitate. When Superman uses Force Blast he may also add an action token to that opposing character.]. I think if you sprinkle that in on clicks 5 and 8-10 and make it a free action I think that would be along the same lines as your prob power, hopefully more effective. nice dial though!

but seriously, some fan dials turn out to be accurate interpitations and are in many cases dials that would be welcome to the game. Its the uber powered fan boyoish dials that give fan dials a bad name.

I was planning on doing at least 2 more polls, but there is a glitch that won't allow anyone to make new polls. that is why you currently weren't on it.
