i got to participate in the DC sealed booster draft at megacon last weekend and going into it i thought...man this was going to suck...i get to open 3 bosters and will only get to choose 2 figures from the selection and the rest of the potentially good figures are going to go to these other guys...but when we started it got kind of fun...the only way you can get realy screwed is if you pull 3 uniques from your 3 packs and what are the odds of that...some people i played with went for stuff they couldn;t play but just wanted to take home with them...others had everything and wanted to build a killer team....whatever your reasons everyone was very happy with it....I think that alot of xplosion tourneys will be this way because it is a great way to complete a well rounded collection....

it is kind of like forced trading...and if you pull a powerhouse you get to keep it

so if you get to play in one...do it you will love it

They certainly sound like fun. I hope they have some at Wizardworld and Gen Con, which I'm trying to convince my parents to take me to. :D

(BTW, I don't want to change the subject to much, but since I mentioned it, when is Wizardworld anyways?)

So who did you draft? And how did you do in the tourney?

sealed draft and how they worked

6 players surrounded a table...
a roll off happens...

highest roll goes first....

opens all three boosters...

places all 12 figures on the table in the middle...

when the last figure is placed on the table there is 1 minute to discuss with everyone what he should take and stats about the different figures (cost, abilities who they work well with etc....

first player has 10 seconds to choose 2 men from that pull...

next player counter clockwise has 5 seconds to choose one....

etc etc etc until the last player is up and then he has 2 seconds to choose 2 figures and it goes back around until all players have 2 figures in front of them...

this way each player has a chance to go first and each player gets stuck with 1 undesirable figure....

at the end of 6 rounds you each have 12 figures selected by you from a lot of 72...

then you have 10 minutes (5 for me because i took a smoke break) to build your team...

4 rounds (3 for position and 1 for finals to determine winner)

now as for how I did...i had the worst 3 games i ever played in my life....game one i took 0 points and was wiped out completly...my team was decent...however i could not roll higher than a 5 the whole game...second game i rolled 3 snake eyes during curcial parts of the game...3rd game same luck...couldn't roll higher than 5...in all three games my dice where cursed...

I did come back and take second place in a sealed marvel game and got a sue storm LE...winner got Bruce banner...DAMMIT lol but a great time was had by all... :D
