New Teen Titans and Alpha Flight

Nightwing was watching the viewscreens of Titans Tower one day, watching his honey Starfire doing some work in the training rooms, when he got a call from New York's finest. The Cheif reported that they had an anonymous tip that the Museum was going to be in some sort of danger soon, and would Nightwing be willing to have his team keep an eye on things for the next few days. Nightwing of course agreed to do so, and began to put together a watch schedule for doing as the Cheif asked.

On the first night that they went by the museum, Changeling and Starfire didn't see very much going on, and returned back to Titan's Tower with a very boring report. The next night Arsenal and Cyborg came back with a very similar report.

During the next day, the Chaif contacted #### and told him that the informant had contacted them and said that something was likely to happen this evening.

Nightwing had a feeling that tonight was going to be the night anyway, and had assembled a true team to patrol the museum. The T-jet had 6 Titans in it when it took off. Changeling and Nightwing were joined by Kid Flash, Hawk, Dove, and Robin.

Sure enough, about 40 minutes after arriving at the Museum and beginning to snoop around. a vortex was seen on the otherside of the Museum, and several constumed individuals were seen coming out of it.

Meanwhile, on another plane of existence, a crisis has erupted. The force barrier that separates the great beasts from the earth is in peril.

Alpha Flight, Canada's premier super heroes, embattled with the mystic forces of a demon named Tannaalkian have fought the beast to a standstill. But just as things are starting to go Alpha Flight's way, Sasquatch's blow sends the foul beast hundreds of yards, smashing him into the Museum of History in Toronto. Shaman's face goes pale as he remembers what resides in that museum... the sacred token of Palnak. Hurriedly, Alpha Flight pursues the demon into the building and finds him standing next to the display of the Native American artifact. His face turns to meet his opponents, his eyes flaming with hatred. "Flee now, mortals, for your doom is now mine to control." His hand breaks threw the containment glass and grasps the small token. He then holds it forth to Shaman and says, "Fear not, I will same some of humanity to be my slaves..." and then crushes the token in his fist.

Guardian comments 'Museums are for looking, not touching. Now you'll just have to leave without a refund." He then blasts the demon with an electromagnetic bolt, sending him out threw the other wall, into the parking lot. "OK, team lets rap this guy up."

"It's not that simple, Mac, you see.... that token was the key that held the very fabric of the barrier that holds back the great beasts." screams Shaman. "It will be only a matter of hours before they all descend upon the earth to complete its destruction." Box looks around at the group, and says "Uh, that sounds bad."

"Quickly, I will weave a spell to hold the barrier as long as I can, we must retrieve a replacement." Shaman turns to his daughter Talisman, "You must find us one, and quickly."

"Alrighty, but I'm not sure how" Talisman turns and concentrates, the lights in the museum flicker and go out. "I've got it, I can open a portal, but must remain here to hold it open."

Guardian wastes no time, "Alright, Box, Aurora, Northstar, Snowbird, and I will retrieve the new token. Shaman you hold the barrier for as long as you can, Talisman, we should be right back. Sasquatch, you and Puck distract that maniac demon until our return. OK, gang, lets go!"

The five then step threw the glowing green portal and arrive outside another museum, this one in New York. "It must be inside, OK troopes, lets get it and get out of here." Guardian commands, but then sees some other costumed figures on the other side of the building. "Looks like a welcoming committee. I don't recognise them, they don't look like the Avengers. But there is no time to waste, I will try to communicate our problem to these people."

Any chance of seeing links to the teams you’re using in this thread? I know kaizot already posted a link to his Alpha Flight team elsewhere, but I’m very curious what Talon is using for his Titan’s team.

This battle will take place on the museum map from the outdoor adventures pack. The map grid we will use is defined as A-X being the squares from left to right with the street with the parked cars at the top, and 1-24 going from bottom to top. The statue on the top of the building is at L15 and M15.

Both teams are 386 points, so there will be 4 actions per turn.

As Alpha Flight readies themselves to enter the museum, they realize that if they have to, they will defeat these upstarts that stand before them. The very world stands in the balance.

Guardian takes position behind the building at O2, with Aurora beside him at N2. Northstar, never far from his sister stands next at M2. Box, standing at J2 looks over at Snowbird at K2 who is lost in contemplation.

As he landed, Guardian noticed:
a park bench(light) at G14
a satellite dish(light) at O10
and a tar machine(heavy) at L10.

Veteran Changeling, Hawk, Dove, and Nightwing should all be obvious additions to the team. I included Robin to represent the fact that the Titans actually assisted in the training of Tim Drake. And the Unique Flash in my opinion best represents the original Kid Flash. No cuteness in the powers department, just pure unadulterated speed. Remembering that in the early days, Kid Flash was almost as fast as Barry Allen, just without the training, I think this version of the flash best represents Kid Flash.

"OK, folks, lets move out..." commands Guardian as he flies up onto the roof of the Museum to P10. "Hey, over there, I don't know what you kids are up to, but we've got a critical situation and need access to this museum. If you can just run along over to Avenger Mansion and tell Captain America that Alpha Flight is here, I'd be much appreciated."

Aurora follows close behind, carrying her brother Northstar to N10, landing herself at O11, taking care to not let her skin touch that of her brother's lest both their powers be disrupted. "Aw, look at ze cute little children all dressed up for Halloween."

Snowbird also flies onto the roof to J11, carrying the machine Box to I11. "I am sensing the mystical properties of the token we seek within this building. We should make haste."

...i was playing around with Retardog's dial generator the other day and i plugged in some numbers from Xplosion in it... it was not accurate. (one example i remember was vet abomination. the figure is 100 points, but the dial generator listed him at 122). so someone may be at a disadvantage here? it looks pretty evenly matched though, so this might be moot...

Lurk, one of the reasons I wanted to playtest these guys was to get an impression as to their play vs cost. I haven't actually created the bases for them yet because I wasn't sure of their cost, so based upon you, Talon, and other spectators, perhaps we can decide if their point values are low or high.

I think that retardog's forumla gets them close enough for this to be a good game. Actually, he is revising his formula to include X-Plosion, so well see if his new number match our impression from the fight.

Anyway, its fun playing with figures I designed the dial for.

good to hear, i'm eagerly awaiting the updated version of the generator. although i don't normally play online, i think it would be fun to play with figures you designed.

anyway, using retardog's formula, i posted my version of the original x-men here (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=270592#post270592). and i also posted my version of a "one-man army" spiderman (since he usually takes on a bunch of bad guys by himself) at this link (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=276285#post276285). i would love to try them out. i actually think the 200 point spidey i created would beat the original 5 x-men because of his high defense values. what do you think of the OG x-men? i do think that the spiderman i created is a bit underpriced.

anyway, eventually when i have time to play these online games maybe i'd try them out. in the meantime, let's see how your guys do. their costs seem pretty accurate to me.

I love the spidey, lurk, Hyperspeed with a lower movement is brilliant. Truely a one man army.

Your Original X-Men are good too. I'm with you that Wizkids should make uniques of the other originals. Your stats though are great.

And they may be able to take Spidey. The hardest part would be getting him off his first click, but beast and cyclops have... well... some chance of doing it. And spidey would only get one action to thier two, so there is some chance.

The willpower/HS/20 defense though is the killer.

"Kids? Guys let's show them what kids can do!!" Nightwing says as he rushes off to dive into a nearby bush at R16.

Hawk runs around in a circle and ends up where he started, as Dove picks him up and carries him to H20, landing herself at G21.

Changeling then runs to E21, and sets up shop behind the car parked on the street.

thanks for the input, kai. like i said, i'm down with playing with super spidey vs. the OG x-men if someone wants to, but i think i'd rather wait for retardog's new dial generator to see the more accurate point costs.

(also, if beast or cyclops do manage to hurt spidey, chances are spiderman can still incapacitate two of them at a time with his high attack values. might take a while, but w/o the professor, i think the x-men would be in big trouble. :) )

talon, i knew you were in trouble once i saw vet changeling on your team. ;) seriously, what kinds of strategies can you use with this guy?

"Now listen up, we don't want to hurt you, but we will if you continue to stand against us. Now back off and go home." yells Guardian from the rooftop.

"I don't believe ze are listening to you, perhapz ze will listen to zis..." says Northstar in a heavy French accent. He then zips down to Q15 and plunges a fist into the bush. "NO! Wait!!" comes the cry from Guardian, but by the time he gets those two words out, Nightwing has already been hit and has been knocked back to the sidewalk at T18. "Zat should knock zome zents into him..." says Northstar while flying back to N11. (Nightwing takes 2 click of damage)

"Northstar is right, Guardian, we need to get that token as quickly as possible!" with that, Snowbird pick Box back up and flies to E17, dropping him at D17. She then transforms into a giant snowy owl, bearing its claws. (Snowbird takes a click for pushing)

Box does not wait and picks up the dumpster at C17 and charges to G20 where he looks at Hawk and Dove, deciding which to hit. He decides that he shouldn't hit a girl, and unloads on Hawk. "He doesn't seem so tough, eh?" (Hawk is pounded for 5 clicks)

"Ah well, in for a penny, in for a pound, they say..." Guardian then hops over the air conditioner to P12 and lets loose an electromagnetic blast at Nightwing, hitting him while he is down. (Guardian take 1 click for pushing, Nightwing takes another 2 clicks of damage)

Sorry about the delay guys, I never got the notification for Kai's turn, and figured I would check into things this morning when i hadn't heard anything for several days. I am thinking your guys are a bit undercosted Kai, but let's play this out and see what we get.

Changeling, is instantly entranced by the shapechanger that he sees across from him, and runs out to meet her. Being the ladies man, he tries to put the move on her, but gets a smack across the face for his efforts. <Changeling moves to D17, pushes>

"We have got to get out of here, that metal baddie is gonna beat us good if we don't", Dove thinks as she attempts to carry Hawk away from Box. <Dove pushes to fly to L24, drops Hawk at K23>

Flash rushes full speed at Snowbird and runs to A9, taking a swing as he runs past. <Flash misses but still runs to A9>

P.S. Thus completes one of the most useless turns I have ever taken in a Heroclix game. I really do think your guys are a bit undercosted there Kai. They seem an awful lot tougher than my guys at the same exact points. Go ahead and checkmate me.

Well I'm still holding judgement, though you may be correct in my team's cost. But there are a number of other things that have gone my way... Getting the first turn, the fact that this map is excellent for a team of fliers (never used this map before :), and I had a just about perfect 2nd turn. Not to mention your only attack roll was a 4, missing by one. ;) It doesn't help that your two heavy hitters needed to push to get started.

And while your team is well-themed, it perhaps lacks a little in mobility. Perhaps my team has too much mobility, though when I create the other 5 or 6 Alpha Flight members I have planned, there is only 1 more flier (who has RS), and no other charge or RS people.

My next turn to come...

"Wow!! Did you see that guy move? I think he's faster than Northstar!" says Box in amazement.

Northstar looks a little upset by the comparison, his eyebrows wrinkle and his jaw sets and he is off in a heartbeat. In a whiney voice he says to himself "I think he's faster than Northstar, nyah, nyah." and then louder "If he is so fast, lets see him dodge this!" Northstar races across the distance between him and Flash and belts him one on the jaw. Northstar then flies up onto the shack at C9 and says, "No one is faster than me, Wing-boy." (Flash takes 2 clicks, Northstar take a click pushing)

"That overconfident Braggart!" says Guardian, "Someday, he will meet his match..."

Box rips the light post out of the ground where he is standing and ambles over to E18 where Snowbird is now threatened by the green gorilla. He brings the light post down on his head with a deft overhand swing. (Changling takes 3 clicks w/toughness and object, Box takes a click pushing)
