Judges,

With the new DC Hero Clix expansion coming out soon I was wandering about how the Mystics team ability will be handled.
Some of my questions are not straight forward in nature. I will explain further.

Mystics: When this figure takes damage from any attack, it retaliates with a magical blast that does one click of damage to the attacker. This point of damage is not reduced by toughness, invulnerability or impervious. All other special abilities act as normal.

Question #1: If a Mystic team member has a damge reducing super power, i.e toughness or impervious, and damage dealt to them is reduced to zero via that damage reduction super power, will the Mystics team ability still deal the one click to the attacker. I realize that zero damage is being dealt, but the wording on the team ability states that when they take damage it works. Zero damage is not the same as no damage.

Question #2: If a Mystic is knocked back into a wall, or off of elevated terrain via the Froce Blast super power and suffers the resulting knockback, will the Mystic team ability deal one click to the figure who performed the Force Blast?

Question #3: If a wilcard capable figure (MOD or Legion of Super Heros team affiliate) is attacked, do you declare that you are using the Mystics team ability before the dice are rolled for the attack, or after the attack roll is made and damage is applied?

Question #4: If a Mystic team member is the reciepiant of critical Incapacitate, or Mind Control attack, will the Mystics team ability deal a click to the attacking figure. I assume yes since both powers deal one click of damage when a critical hit is rolled. Furthermore, if the Incapacitate attack is not a critical hit, but still causing the Mystic to become pushed, will the Mystics team ability deal a click?

Question #5: If a Wilcard team affiliate is declared as a Mystics team member and deals the damage to the attacker, but dies in the process, would you be able to declare that figure as another team affiliate like the FF4 to heal other FF4 members. I am not to certin on this one.

Any assistance that you Judges, or accomplished players can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks,

#1. The description of the Team ability clearly states that damage reducing powers do NOT work.

#2. I would rule NO they would not take a click because Force Blast is not an attack.

#3. You will have to declare the affiliation before the dice are rolled.

#4. I would say YES. It took a click from an attack. It would NOT retaliate for the click of push damage.

#5. You cannot change team affiliations in mid action so NO.

These are just my interpretations of the rules at this time.

I am not talking about the attacker in that question. I know that the retalitory Mystics team ability strike cannot be reduced. I was asking if the Mystics team member that was attacked had a damage reducing super power which reduced damage dealt to them to zero could still be able to retaliate with a click of damage to their attacker even if the damage dealt to the Mystics team meber was reduced to zero via their damage reducing super power. Zero damage is not the same as no damage. Basically can the Mystics team ability work even when zero damage is dealt to a Mystics team member. I hope that clears up your confusion.

What if a Mystic attacked a Mystic? Would damage just be shuttled back and forth until someone died? I assume no since the retaliation is not an attack.

Dolemite, your argument's a good one, but I have a feeling that the Mystics ability will only activate when the figure is actually clicked from damage.

I have always assumed that that was how it would work.

However, if a character used a power that pushed the target character, thus giving it a click, I don't think the Mystic could retaliate with a click...

Oppinions ?

I already said no to the push damage because it is not a "direct" result of the attack, but a "side effect" if you will.

To clarify.

The "direct" result of the attack gives a token not damage, the "side effect" of having 2 tokens is a push.

I am now better informed, but just as ignorant...

Sorry for not having got it the first time...
