Which Dr. Octopus do you feel is the most powerful from a dial and special powers standpoint, and which is the best for the points?

Web is pretty accurate.

I still think there is a lot to be said for the old Red Ring Clooberin' Time Dr. Octopus. He has a decently high defense, high attack, 2 damage and perplex...PLUS A RED RING!! C'MON PEOPLE!!!

The Web SR is awesome, I think. Very fun to play and a fantastic sculpt.

Wasn't knocking old school, it's just if I'm playing the most accurate dial it's Web. Heck, I still love that sculpt.

To me, the best Doc Ock is:

si034 V Dr. Octopus
Team: Sinister Syndicate
Range: 6 :bolt::bolt:
Points: 69
Keywords: Scientist, Sinister Syndicate
m-boota-fistd-shieldg-starburst1010172101016299152981528814288141KOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKO
(Speed) Tentacles: Dr. Octopus can use Flurry, Leap/Climb, and Super Strength.

Awesome for the points.

A close second:

ct078 V Doctor Octopus
Team: No Affiliation
Range: 6 :bolt::bolt:
Points: 66
Keywords: Scientist
m-boota-fistd-shieldg-starburst101117210101629915289142881427813177131KOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKO

With the SinSyn TA he'd be the best.

I'm not a fan of:

ws054 U Doctor Octopus
Team: Sinister Syndicate
Range: 4 :bolt::bolt:
Points: 121
Keywords: Scientist, Sinister Syndicate
m-boota-fistd-shieldg-starburst81017189161681628101728916268162KOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKOKO
(Attack) Four Arms and Four Eyes: Dr. Octopus can use perplex four times during your turn but only on himself.

(Damage) Tentacles: Dr. Octopus can use flurry.

(Special) Sinister Mastermind: Friendly characters adjacent to Dr. Octopus with the Sinister Syndicate team ability can't have their speed or attack powers countered

Way too expensive for what you get. Too much time is spent upping his defense to keep him alive. As soon as you don't trip Perplex his D, he's dead. The final killer for me with this piece is the inability to push. Ugh. At 122 points the fact he MUST clear due to a steep drop in playability is a deal-breaker (and sent mine to the trading block). I'll pay half the cost for a more team friendly Ock every single time...

I prefer Secret invasion's Doc myself. He is more of a team player than Web. I don't mind the LE from ultimates ether.

The WoS one is pretty strong. Can't go wrong with 11 av 4 damage, 12 av 3 damage or a straight 20 dv.

I have played almost no WoS figures, but the Doc Ock was one of them.

It is a *very* pricey figure, but with the right sort of help can be successful. The drawback to the dial is that victories with it will come very sloooowly.

I have a strong distaste for the Ultimate REV/LE: The move values are far too low for my taste, especially for a figure with Leap/Climb. Utility plummets, IMO.

I had old-time luck with the CT REV, I think the Exp/Vet hold up well because of movement/attack stats and dial design.

I think I have only played with the SI version in sealed. It's point cost makes it more team-friendly than the WoS, but this is a figure that will have to enter the fray eventually (to help buddies with AV and/or tie-up). I don't think the powers have much synergy (Quake and Combat Reflexes) but the 6 range mitigates that somewhat.

I had a blast playing the WoS piece. He's a great fun piece. I would have to say he is my favorite.

I personally like the SI version. Team friendly point total and can hold his own in a fight.

the best over all is WoS. very fun piece. even when ur not upping his defense, he has mastermind, meaning he shouldn't be going away anytime soon if played right. outwit is his only downfall, as are most higher point figures, and he'll more so than not be the main target of outwit.

And if he is, is there anything wrong with that?

Anyway, The SR from WoS is pretty darn good. I like him alot brtter than the other Ottos.

In every appearance of Doc Ock I've ever read, he's a formidable opponent who really gives Spider-Man (or anyone else he faces) a run for the money. That can't be said of many Spider-Foes, most of whom have been chumped out recurrently.

As such, when I want Dr. Octopus on my team, I'm going to go for the Web of Spider-Man edition. He should be the big bad of any themed team he's on, and the dial really shows a man who can be quite intimidating if he puts his focus there.

Other dials have been playable, and other dials have been fun approximations, but to give Otto his due requires 100 points.

I vote: Web of Spiderman Doc Ock, that is clearly the best one!

Secret Invasion. The Web of Spider-Man piece folds to a single Outwit.

Well, WS Ock is team-friendly. Or, rather, he needs the team to be friendly to him. The combination of his 4x Perplex and Mastermind will keep him alive to Outwit targets for his non-MM teammates to smackdown.

It is a *very* pricey figure, but with the right sort of help can be successful. The drawback to the dial is that victories with it will come very sloooowly.

Yes. I played him on an all-Ock team against two other teams including, respectively, the new SRs Green Lantern and Wonder Woman. He was the last member of my team standing, and only two full-power Regen rolls saved GL from KO and giving me the victory.

Secret Invasion. The Web of Spider-Man piece folds to a single Outwit.

Not if you're playing him right! He should have MM fodder AND his SuPerplex'd DV.

The WoS Doc Ock beat my team at a tourney so soundly that I had to get the figure for my own collection.

I do have fond memories of fielding the LE Otto Octavius from Ultimates all those years ago.

No love for Dr. Otto Octavius from Ultimates?

A really cheap Pouncer in GA.

And decent values for his points.

Never played the WoS Doc Ock so i'd have to go with the SI version who I've played many times but it has my least favourite sculpt of them all.

Saying that I've always wanted to see a version either with Giant stride and giant size or a special power that mimics them as when I think of Doc Ock I see him towering over the fight on his tentacles controlling the space around him.

For 66 points, Vet. Doc Ock from the Clobberin' Time set was my go-to version of the character. His opening slot:

Move: 10 (Leap/Climb)
Attack: 11
Defense: 17 (Willpower)
Damage: 2 (Perplex)
With 6:bolt::bolt:

Love him. With the willpower and leap/climb he was one of the best move-then-attack combos out there in his day. Sculpt was pretty good in comparison to others, and the perplex helped him gain that 18 def. or 12 attack when he needed it.

Later in the dial, he rocks out some super strength to deter anyone who steps up on him, and the ESD helps him gain a bit of a defense from ranged attackers, forcing you to come to him in a lot of cases.

Now, with the new rules/powers/versions of Ock, he may not be the overall "Best Doc Ock" out there, but IMO he still has what it takes to be a relatively competitive piece in today's games.

The only drawback is his lack of TA and keywords. "Scientist" pretty much sums this dude up - but teaming with some WoS Researchers can help him pack a punch!

I don't get all the "WoS Dr. Octopus folds to 1 outwit" talk. What do you outwit.......3x perplex'd 20 defense, mastermind, or his outwit, either way he has plenty of protection left!;)

Si Ock is the best Ock. Web is a huge amount of points for what he gives you. I'm not saying he can't be good on the right team or a team built around him, but SI Doc is a more consistent performer.
