Blades/Claws and Perplex

Can you perplex up the damage done by blades/claws after you role the dice.
For example:

Wolverine strikes at Sabretooth and chooses to role for blades/claws. You role a 4 and you want to perplex the damage up to 5 with your Dr. Doom you have.

Is this legal???????

No, for two reasons.

1) You can only perplex up numbers on the dial (move, attack, defense, damage & range). Your b/f/c roll isn't on the dial, similar to the way you can't perplex up the damage from hitting multiple targets or energy explosion or pulse wave.

2) You can not perplex in the middle of an action. You couldn't have Dr. Doom hit someone and then perplex up his damage. You have to decide before you roll the dice where (or if) you are raising or lowering a point.
