uniques per case?

i have a case of xplosion coming my way, and was wondering by experience what others have pulled from cases...on average how many uniques could i expect? this is the first case i've bought. reply's are apreciated

Typically you should get 8, but I have heard of some cases getting as few as 0 and others having as many as 12.

You have to be sure it is a sealed case, especially online! Alot of sites out there pull uniques from the packs leaving you with nothing. Make sure you have purchased a sealed factory case.

I have bought two cases from each set, and every time i have always gotten 8 uniques in each one.

They search through the case and pull the uniques if you purchase anything less than a case. You get the sealed boosters that are left. You have virtually no chance to get any uniques from Icon

And i will admit that i only ordered 12 boosters from them, but still gattheringgrounds is a better deal anyway, i didn't get one unique, but did get six Level 5's

Sealed cases from them are usually just fine. It's when you order anything LESS than a case that you have a problem.

...and just to confirm it, it is reasonable to expect 8 Uniques in a case, and statisticaly you will probably get 6, plus 2 "trades".
Equaly obviously, do not buy a case that is not sealed...

Oh great, I wish I knew this about them a few weeks ago before I ordered 1 1/4 sealed cases of Xplosion from them. Hopefully the sealed case a)shows up at all b)is, well, sealed!

I guess the 1/4 case will be pilfered.

Btw, how do they know where the Uniques are in sealed boosters???

I have a $90 order with them on other stuff from a month ago that hasn't arrived and they haven't responded to either of my emails as to its whereabouts.

The new boosters are apparently sealed differently to prevent tampering. Although since they've been out a week some doof has probably found how to check them.

Is it true that Uniques are generally at the bottom areas of the cases, it seemed true today, someone I knew got 5 uniques out of 8 packs, all DC, all from the bottom row.

Not that I'm saying there's a scam going on, but even if there is, this makes no real difference.

At least "most" of the time the boxes with the Uniques are reported as being in the bottom two layers of the case. So, open case from underneath, start oppening boosters. Extract Uniques when found, stopping at 6 if all 6 have been different. Place unopened boosters to one side. Repeat process untill you want to stop. Sell Uniques on ebay, sell singles fairly cheaply, send unopened boosters out as part of 1/4 orders, etc.

This is how it would be done, as there is absolutly no way to prove whether it has been done or not.

Not that I'm saying anybody does this, of course.

Just to post my two cents about s c r e w y o u o v e r, I mean I C O N U S A. com, first off did you notice that this site has included their name in the "Profanity Censor"? What does that tell you? I think its because people bad mouth them so much here that someone at Icon either mentioned it, or the mods did it pre-emptively.

Either way, I've been a HUGE basher of the IUC, since they once ripped me off. However, I'd like to add to the voices here who have already posted that some orders may be safe.

Firstly, if you've ordered a case from them, it will arrive factory sealed, and untampered. I've heard it more than once.

Secondly the new packaging on XPlosion may prevent the type of tampering I experienced with them. I ordered nine boosters, and each and EVERY one of them had OBVIOUSLY been "peeked" into. The top flap was bent up, and the back of the box was bowed as if someone had bent it. What had hapened, and I knew AS SOON AS I SAW IT, was that they had bent the top flap up a bit, and squeezed the booster to peer down inside to see if they could see the specially colored plastic that uniques come in. There was no doubt in my mind, and sure enough I got absolutely NO Uniques. Hopefully, the new packaging of Xplosion, combined with the bad rap they've been getting will prevent this in the future.

Unfortunately, there are still other tactics (such as weighing) which they can use to find Uniques. Not all of them of course, but Savage Hulk will definitely be susceptible. Maybe Apocalypse too? The Ultimate Green Goblin? I'm not sure... but if they are still bent on being underhanded, they'll find a way, of that I'm certain....

How about bestcomics.com. Are they known for stealing uniques? I just ordered 10 boosters of xplosion from them. What are the chances that the boxes have been tampered with?

Ok. now i'm really concerned. I just ordered a carp load of singles from i c o n u s a . c o m for my dad. What did you guys mean when you say they screwed you over? Did it not ship or did you order boosters that yielded 0 uniques? If it didn't ship I swear to god i'm sewing. My dad is getting into collecting the figures and I wont even say what we spent(all were singles, bought uniques too). Please specify your expeiences with buying singles with them for my reference.

On the other hand I personally have ordered 4 boosters and a couple singles from them. Out of the 4 boosters I got one enchantress unique. I'm fine with that, but how do I know I won't get screwed thet next time I order. I guess that's why they sell boosters for so cheap, like "12 for $50", and "24 for $95". All I want is specifics on orders on singles, boosters, and cases, big orders(like mine) and small orders.

I haven't had anything really bad happen yet, but I have had a couple of iffy moments and I've always had a bad feeling about working with them.

The first issue I had with them was when I ordered about 20 singles, including the Batman unique. When the order arrived, everybody was there except the Batman, even thought the packing slip said it shipped. I sent them an email and got the "oh, we are SO sorry, have that right out to ya" reply. It did actually show up, so that worked out.

Later, I ordered a Nightcrawler and a Nick Fury. That was a month ago and I never received an email saying they shipped. I sent them 2 emails requesting status of the order with no replies. Getting a bit worried given the cost involved, I was about to unleash the wrath of my Pre-Paid Legal attornies on them, but I decided to call I C O N this morning and see what they did on the phone. They told me that Nightcrawler was really hard to get and I was on a waiting list. This was interesting to me in that previously they said they never backordered singles so if they were out, they were out and you had to try again later. I cancelled my order and ordered the same figs from Gathering Ground at a slightly cheaper price.

While that was true of the IC & HT sets, testing of several cases of CT here found the uniques to be liberally distributed throughout the case. Top, bottom, right, left...didn't matter. So Xplosion will likely be as evenly distributed.

As far as singles H-Man11? I can relate the experience of a friend.

1) The order was late. It took like two + weeks, which is a long time in todays standard. Ebay items arrive to me typically in under four days, and Gathering Ground got me an order of a case within a week of placing it.

2) They screwed up the order. He ordered a bunch of figs, including a V Dr Doom, but the Dr Doom never came. Apparently he wasn't charged for it however.

3) No correspondance. They never sent a shipping confirmation, or any explanation as to the Doom fig. Nothing. Its like you place your order and it drops into a bottomless well.

from i c o c u s a and I got a good amount of uniques. I do get the the feel they are probably a relatively small business when I called them. The unqiues in both of my cases were at the bottom of the case. I suppose if vendors know this they probably take adavantage of it or even if they don't know you would have to put all the boosters in a big lottery tumbler to get a fair shake at them.
I've bought boosters at Toy's R Us, Babbages and EBGames. In all I've probably pulled about 40 uniques between the two cases and individual boosters. But I'm in an area with 2 Toy's R US, numerous game shops, 3 EB-Games, Babbages etc. I drive to different stores getting a booster or two. If I get one unique I usually go back and buy at least 5 more boosters, because they are typically together being they are probably put out at the same time since they are at the bottom of the case. I got 4 at a Toy's R US doing that.
With my DC case I got about 4 extra uniques for trade. My CT case I was short about 3 for a enough to trade for the rest.
I went with i c o n u s a again, unless they do me wrong I will continue to do business with them.

oh definitly. retail stores are HOT on boosters. even though they charge the full MSRP of $6.95 i pulled 2 uniques and a bunch of veterans out of 4 boosters from a Game Keeper retail store in a mall.

In general I was pleased with i c o n u s a, having gotten a wide range of uniques and that's from buying them at less than the case level. Both of the Nightcrawlers I pulled came from CT boosters I'd ordered in lots of 12 or 24. Having gotten IC and CT boosters in similar, sub-case lots, I've gotten The Vision, Red Skull, Nick Fury, Super Skrull, the 6-armed Spidey, several Elektra and Cyclops uniques, and that's just what comes to mind offhand.

On the flip side, one of the orders I received had fairly obviously been opened and resealed, as the figures were placed in the boxes at various orientations and the sheet or ID stickers was partially folded and mashed between two of the figures rather than neatly against one of the sides, as has otherwise been the case. Still, some of those HT boosters yielded a The Key, a couple Jim Gordons, a Darkseid (the other Darkseid I'd gotten from Best Comics), a DeSaad, and some of these were from boxes that had appeared to have been tampered with, so I was ultimately unsure.

This time out I've ordered a full case of Xplosion from them, but I'd also ordered a group of 24 a little earlier, so presumably I'll get them all around the same time. I'll be sure to keep track of what I get in the case vs what I get in the 24 loose packs and mention it on the board.

Also, while I've heard from others about slow shipping I have to report that each time I've placed an order for items that were listed as in stock my order was shipped within four days and an automatic notification from UPS was sent to me, so I could track my order and watch it work its way up I-95 over the course of three days each time.
