"It wasn't a story, Dom, it was a saga, The Famous Saga of the Flash and Green Lantern and all their friends and even a few of their enemies too. Ok Dom, I suppose I have time for just one more story...".

"It began a long time ago, you see, on a strange and distant fortress where time meant nothing. Green Lantern and Flash were on a mission to save earth when, out of nowhere, they ran into more Flashes and Green Lanterns and others, too! Both sides become doubtful of the others' intentions...and thus started the Fantastic and True Saga of the Flash and Green Lantern Skirmish...".

Welcome to a new game courtesy of flyingicarus and Gargantua productions. The focus today is on a battle using Green Lanterns and Flashes and their family of supporting characters.

The premise is simple, it's a 2k game, we use 8 characters at a time, 6 of which must be Flash or GL related. Either can use the same character simultaneously but only one version per player at a time. So we both can play Barry Allen but not both playing him and say the Crisis Flash.

Feats can be used once, otherwise it's our normal replacement process.

The father continues, "And so two teams of Flashes and Green Lanterns gathered upon the Anti-Matter Fortress."

"It must be some kind of time anomaly," Hal Jordan points out.

"I've just run the course of the place," says Flash, "There's eight of them including another me and you," he tells Hal.

"Just what the word needs," Amanda Waller groans.

"I hear ya, sister," Green Arrow says.

"It doesn't stop us from doing our mission," Liberty Belle says, "We're here for a reason."

"We sure are! Anyone see a bathroom? I gotta go poddy," G'nort says.

"I thought you were behind the puddle over there," says Captain Boomerang.

"What can I tell ya? I got the bladder the size of a peanut!".

"It matches your brain," Fatality groans, "Can we get on with this? The less time we spend with each other, the better."

"Wait, daddy!" young Dominic says. "What's a 'time nommully'?' 'If there are two Flashes and Green Lanterns which are the most powerful? Why does G'nort have to poddy again'?".

"Listen," the Father says, "And you'll learn...".

"Wait, so there's another me, and another you?" Green Lantern asked.

"Wait, Daddy! You're doing it wrong!"

"Huh? What do you mean?"

"Green Lantern's voice's gotta be deep. Like a hero's."

"Oh. Okay. 'So there's another me, and another you?' Green Lantern asked." The father dropped his voice.

"That's better."

The father smiled at his son and continued.

"Yeah, well that kind of thing happens," the Flash said. "Timelines crossing and all that."

"If you ask me, one Flash id bad enough," the Trickster said.

"You can say that again," the Pied Piper agreed.

"Wait! What're these guys doing here?" Kid Flash asked. "They're part of your Rogue's Gallery."

"I don't know, but I'll admit that as the Rogues go, these two aren't that bad," Flash confessed. "Mirror Master, Grodd, those guys are rotten to the core. These two? Sure, they'll rob you blind, but at least they're not going to go out and kick kittens, just because it's fun."

The Rogues looked a little pleased with the backhanded compliment.

"Dad? What's a back-handed compliment?"

"Oh. Uh, that's when you say something nice about someone, but you say it in a way that makes even the good thing sound kind of bad."

"Oh," Dominick said, still looking a little confused. His father considered explaining further, but it was getting late, so he plowed on with the story. "'It is good of you to give them a chance,' Indigo-1 said. She was the leader of the Indigo Tribe. They were like the Green Lanterns, but the Green Lantern's rings worked on willpower, the Indigo Tribe had staffs that were powered by compassion - that's always being nice and helping people."

"Are you all right, Hourman?" Carol Ferris asked. "You love Liberty Belle, but you're being forced to fight her. I know what that's like, and it's not fun." As Carol Ferris she was Green Lantern's girlfriend, but as Star Sapphire, she was one of his enemies.

"I'm fine," Hourman said stoically.

"Daaaaad, why're they all talking? Why aren't they getting to the fighting part?"

Dad smiled. "Why are we all talking?" asked Jason Blood, the magician with a curse. "Why aren't we fighting?"

"Jason's right," Green Lantern said. "If we have to do this, let's do this and get it over with."

Great story post, btw. I'm finding myself fascinated by the kid trying to make the story right in his mind.

I had fun with the story. It was one of those that just came out. I was writing it out normally, and in my head, the kid kept interrupting with his comments and so down they went on the page. Like the backhanded compliment thing. Once I wrote that, I thought, what kid's going to know what that means? And of course a kid's going to stop the story and ask. It'll probably be less prominent as the game goes on, but I'm sure it'll still pop up here and there.

"Best of both worlds, m' man. Best of both worlds," the Pied Piper confirmed, putting his flute to his lips and blowing a note that disoriented the Flash.

"Beating up on Kids? That's not the Flash I know!" Green Lantern said, flying around the corner and hitting the Flash with an emerald power blast.

"Yay!" Dominick shouted.

Am I experiencing terrain difficulties? Aren't all the brown boxed areas blocking terrain?

Yes that's right. Brown is blocking. Is there something I messed up? I notice that Barry's position in your recap differs from your post and map. Your post says he ends P12. The map has him in Q12. In any case, whichever of those 2 spots Barry's in, all those attacks should be good once Hal and Carol use their Running Shot to get into position. The one thing that's iffy is my Flash getting LOF to your Flash to Outwit his Super Senses, and I could easily reposition him to make that work. He cleared last turn and didn't move this turn.

"Are you okay with this?" Hal asked Carol.

"He's not you. He may look like you, but he's not. I can do this." She led the onlsaught on the other team's Green Lantern, sending off a second blast to hit Captain Boomerang too.

"Good shot," Hal said, following up her attack with one of his own on his namesake.

"Star Sapphire working with me?" the other team's Hal said. "Now I know there's something wrong with your team."

"Now, which one o' you is going to be next?" Captain Boomerang asked, taking out another of his namesake weapons.

"I think the answer is 'you'," Indigo-1 said, bathing him with light from her staff. Boomerang's eyes closed and he dropped to the ground like a stone. "Don't think that because I preach compassion that I am defenseless."

"You're right. I don't believe it. Not for a second," Hal said, hitting Guy with a power blast of his own.

"Liberty Belle," the Pied Piper said. "You'll dance to my tune now." He put his flute to his lips and played a haunting tune. The song hypnotized Belle and she truend and ran full tilt right into Green Arrow slamming him into the wall.

"Anyone get the number of that truck?" Ollie asked. "Well, at least she didn't kill me. That would've ruined my day."

"Sorry pal," Wally said following Liberty Belle and punching Green Arrow. This time he didn't get up.

Went to take a turn here this morning and realized there was no way I'd have time to figure out 4 replacements. Pied Trickster is on their last click. Also, while I'd really have no problem with losing the Manhunter, in H15, he's a safe distance from Ganthet. Leaves me with really only 3 to replace. Still that's plenty.

I was kind of telling myself that one character I would bring in soon was Captain Cold. Might as well bring in John Stewart, for the sake of completeness, get all 4 of the Earth Lanterns in. And then Blackest Night Wonder Woman just appeals to me here. Knockdown, LMD and Repulsor SHield as feats, respectively

"Nah, let him believe it was him. It'll make him feel better."

"Oh come on, like I didn't know he was already blue? It was a joke!" Captain Cold grumbled.

"I got you now, Jordan!" Guy said, closing in on Hal before he could recover from Gathet's attack.

"No, you don't!" Wonder Woman said, flying into Guy, knocking him out cold.

"Diana, thanks for having my back," Hal told her.

"It's nothing for an old friend," Wonder Woman smiled at him.

"John Stewart, I am surprised at you," Ganthet said blocking both of their attacks as easily as he had Arkillo's. "The others could perhaps be forgiven for not fully realizing what they were doing. But you should know better. A Guardian is not just any foe. We possess more power than all of you combined."

"Will she be all right?" John asked.

"I hope not. I made extra sure not to leave any airholes," Captain Cold admitted.

"Your time's up Chronos," Barry said, running up to the time-traveling villain.

"No you don't, Flash," Chronos said, avoiding the attack as if he knew just when it was coming. "Only I get to make the time jokes."

"Then I won't make any jokes. I'll just kill you," Arkillo said, creating a giant, clawed hand with his ring that swiped Chronos right off his flying sundial.

"Like you have a sense of humor anyway," Wally said, running past on his way to deal with Kyle.

"Nuh-uh Flash," Kyle said, blocking his way with a construct-wall. "Not letting you in."

"It was a good one," Carol agreed, a far off look in her eyes.

Glad you approve. It was just going to be about the mother coming in and chasing the father out for keeping the kid up too late. I had it all written up and ready to post when I had the sudden inspiration to make them Hal and Carol and went back and changed the names and redid the last line.
