View Full Version : Ranged Combat on Adjacent Figure?
Can you make a ranged combat attack on an adjacent figure?
Example - Hawkeye has a 0 damage, but has RCE. An enemy figure moves adjacent. Can Hawkeye use the RCE? Common sense would say no, how can you pull an arrow out and shoot it at someone standing within arms reach, but I see nothing to prevent it.
Non-flying clix can not do ranged combat with other no-flyer when they are in base contact.
Non-flyers and flyer can, however.

Hovering figures with RCE (e.g., Firelord) can make ranged attacks against adjacent figures (Hovering or Grounded). but grounded figures (e.g., Hawkeye) can't.
By the way, in my opinion Hovering figures shouldn't be able to either.

A flying character may use a ranged combat action on an adjacent opposing character, and only an adjacent opposing character.
A grounded figure may only use a ranged combat action against a adjacent flying character, but only if there are no adjacent opposing grounded figure.
Hope this clears that up.....

And you get a bonus. Not only did Psylockeslover give you the situations where ranged combat can be used adjacent, but here's the rulebook quote you were looking for that it can't be done otherwise:If the range value is greater than 0 and your character is not in base contact with an opposing figure, then you may give your character a ranged combat action.

okay, if that's the case, then you could taxi a henchman or something over to an opposing shooter(ie bullseye or Hawkeye) and totally hose them! This is especially true if they have a 0 damage value and don't have leap climb. They can't fight nor can they escape easily.
Is that the deal?

Yup. I used that tactic just last night in a friendy game. Boy was my opponent miffed.:D
Ah, that's cool.
Now, let's say I've got the Thing and he's carrying a dumpster(everybodies favorite 3D object!) and he's in base contact with an enemy, can he throw the dumpster at someone else as his dial value is 0 but SS allows for a thrown range of 4?

No. Absolutely no figure except the Sentinel and Sinestro big figures is able to make a ranged attack against a non-adjacent figure while adjacent to an enemy.
