3d terrain or paper maps

I have made a lot of 3d terrain and we love it. Will there come a day when we all will be playing heroclix on 3d terrain or are we forever attached to the map? It seems that most venues use the maps out of starters and those who play them have an edge in tournaments.

How do they have an edge?

More people would play on 3-d terrain if it was more readily and cheaply available.
