I think I'm more excited about NextWave then the X-Men in the set. Though I'm just glad after all these years and many, many sets, Cyclops FINALLY gets leadership! Sheesh! ;)

Im happy to play with golden age figures so i am not excited about lots of remakes of figures i already have. Although i am looking forward to the giants.

generously gave it a 3. There are about 10 figures from this set I want. That's about 1/4th as many as ANY recent heroclix set.

I am way excited, the last set was only so so. It seems that all the great sets lately have been Marvel, Hammer of Thor, Web of Spiderman, and now this. DC 75...meh, BatB ick... Very excited, can't wait.

I'm at a 7. I am glad to see a Cable/Deadpool duo, but wish Cable had been a lone piece (maybe an LE?). But I am also disappointed not to see a desperately needed new Havok, Blink, or first timers Pixie or X-man. Maybe a few more duos may surprised me, but that would lead to hope of a Havok LE so he isn't always connected to someone.
I am happy to see a new Magneto and first timers Vulcan, Trevor Fitzroy and Nemesis.
Maybe when I see more dials I will be more excited.
Gotta go with over 9000. It's not even an option since that was a choice.

As an X-Men fan, I honestly would say "5". I really only want the Horsemen figs. Maybe Vulkan. The rest are "meh". And I really don't like the way they are doing the Super Boosters. Why don't they just do a "Huge" set like D and D minis does? Or make the Colossals their own expansion? The Sentinels look cool, but not cool enough for me to WANT to buy them at $25 a piece (if I can even pull one specifically)? Too bad-I was a Huge fan of the X-Men

02/18/2011, 05:48
I gave it a 6. I usually play DC teams, but have been swayed to play more Marvel since HoT and the Clix revival. I enjoy playing Asgardians, Guardians of the Galaxy, and even some Dark Avengers. I expect I'll start playing some X-Men with the release of this set, mostly following the Whedon Astonishing team. I'd be much more excited for this set if it filled out some more Cosmic slots for me GotG team, some Shi'ar Imperial Guard or Inhumans. Imperial Guard would even stay within the X-Men theme, too! (I am glad to see Vulcan and Ch'od, though!)

im Happy i Started Clixing in the modern age so alot of the remakes i dont have. although i haven't seen many clix that catch my eye from this set Ect: Magneto cable/deadpool and the Colossal figs
I'd say I'm more enter-ested than exit-ed.;)
But seriously, even if I don't really know the characters I am glad to be getting new ones along with some old faves. I gave it an 8.

I'm a huge Xmen fan. The only thing I haven't loved has been the Sentienel. If WK released another set just like this one I would be thrilled.
11 for the five Nextwave figures, 8 for the Namles Ones, about 2 for everything else.
MadCap#1
02/18/2011, 06:28
I rated my excitement at an 8. Mainly because I get the feeling that this new change to the packaging (super boosters) is going to create an issue for me as a completist. I "smell" distribution/collation issues.

1 = Meh.

Very happy to see NextWave, mostly for the Captain and a new Machine Man. But the best thing about this set? Harry Leland. Now we have the complete original Hellfire club. And the HF Guard will be a major nuisance.

02/18/2011, 07:57
Theres only about 3-4 that I really want out of this set, and maybe another 6 that I'm interested in. Besides that its not a big draw to me.
But to be honest, quite a few sets recently have been average at best. The last great set was HOT and that was old Wizkids set, not Neca's. The best Neca set I feel is DC75 and its not as good as HOT was.
But I'm hoping the Superman set is great, but I'm not going to be holding my breath. Neca has disappointed me with all of there creative ideas and their set release's so far.
By the way I gave this set a 5. Its huge for my eldest son since this the X-Men are his favorite team.

02/18/2011, 08:28
I hear a lot of "The old Wizkids were great and NECA is so so" ... but the GSX dials are GREAT!! Come on! For them to make Harry Leland a must have piece? Magneto is a brilliant piece. Tabitha Smith is going to be a blast to play with ... Of course, being a HUGE X-Men fan, I'm a bit biased, but still, the set looks AMAZING. March 16 can't arrive soon enough. That's why I chose 9000. And 9000 is barely enough! :D

I gave it a 5. I am an X-Men fan, but not hardcore like some people. I'm not too big on it being so X-Men heavy and would rather have seen some other Marvel Universe characters besides Nextwave. I'm not too crazy about the super booster idea either, so I think that a 5 is being very generous. If it turns out that there are chase figures in thie set, then I would drop it down to a 2.

I'm at a 10. REAL excited about the base set, less so about the giants, but I'll be hoping for my Apoc/Onslaught!
I voted 7. On the one hand: New HeroClix figures! Some of which I'll need to complete comics-accurate team rosters!
But on the other hand? I'm still broke from DC 75 (which I only managed to buy with Christmas funds)! And I'm a full-time college student without a paying job (although I'm told that my part-time internship is actually paying me... with experience, that is! *sighs*)!
6 Figures I really want....
32 all together I will try to collect, so I voted a 6.

Voted 8. Would have been higher but Sentinel reveal really bummed me out on the playability of the colossals.

I'm not so excited. But I was never an X-fan. I sorta want hover chair Prof X. I wouldn't mind getting Jean, The Captain, Tabitha Smith, Magento, and the new Juggernaut. But given how most of those are SRs anyway, I'll probably get normal booster, and try to track down superboosters since I want Onslaught badly.
this set looks okay. i want a few, not all of the pieces. Its true that we are due for some updated X-Men figs that have become "Golden Age" but this isn't a set that is as thrilling as Hammer of Thor, Crisis, or Arkham Asylum was for me. Obviously some of you are thrilled for this new one, so we all have our opinions and likes. No harm, no foul. I am going back to playing Marvel vs. Capcom 3 until this comes out.
I'm not that excited about it. I have little interest in Nextwave and there are so many remakes.
What I have decided is that I will probably buy just one brick and I may then buy some of the big boosters to get the colossal figures. Anything I want after that I will trade for but I should have most of what I want.

over 9000?!
Sir, the options were set from 1-10, 10 being the highest!
your option of >9000 confuses and infuriates me. However, given that you have broken your own standards i too will. on a scale of 1-10 im "meh =/"
I put 7. I am a big X-man fan and I am excited about, Magneto, Cable/Deadpool, Vulcan, but Newxtwave??? C'mon. There are so many classic characters with rich histories that need to be made. Nextwave is a flash in the pan recent series with forgettable characters. Very dissappointed in their selection. Plus too many generics bug me to. However, Likewise I would have loved to see more Shiar Imperial Guard, Marvel needs more power players.

02/18/2011, 11:12
It's over 9000!! And I am too. But I'm a little surprised at how critical lots of people have been in this thread. I feel that pretty much every remake we're getting is needed (you could even argue that M&M Xavier could use a redo with a trait). Plus we have a good amount of stuff we haven't seen yet (Nextwave, Lockheed). The Magneto seems to be a home run. Hellfire minions have a really great power. I'm pumped. No complaints here. I guess I'm just not as picky. I'm just happy that the company is alive and that we're getting new figures.
8. i definitely can't wait to open my case, but i am still a bit leery of the whole super booster thing and there being only 8 regular sized boosters in a case. also wanna know what the deal is with the duos

02/18/2011, 11:25

Based off name I want 15 figures from the set (~25%).
Some of the reveals have me irked with design about the set : 300 point Sentinel, the trait of Beast , AV of Purifiers , etc.

I think NECA focused a little too much n the X-men in this set, just like they focused WAY to much attention on the stupid lanterns. Come on, guys! I was really hoping for a remake on Dormammu. I mean, NECA did give us the Mindless ones! Where's the Big Boss?? I also wanted to see Black Bolt. Silver Samurai, some Alpha Primitives, and Medusa would have been nice, too. Sigh... Oh, well...You can't always get what you want...
I voted a level 7 for my excitement. But, I will seek out all members of the NEXTwave.

All X-Men = okay.
A bunch of X-men I don't care about = boo.
Missing Brotherhood = boo.
Super boosters = potential nightmare.
Everyone has multiple Special Powers = Really?!?
NECA, if you are going to 'Special Power' everyone in the game, make sure to save slots in every set for revised characters. It's out-of-control.
I'm getting really irritated writing this. If I could change my vote, it would move to a 3.

It's disturbing how much negativity each set brings out!!! It's starting to sound like people hate the game they CLAIM to love!!!
If there were less X-Men in the set, there would be crying that there should have been more with the set named for them. If there were more, there would be crying that there were too many. (That is already appearing right here!!!)
If they didn't do remakes, there would be INTENSE crying over the fact that figures from older sets were unable to compete with the newer figures. When they do remakes on lousy characters, there's INTENSE crying over how new characters need to be made!!!
When new characters are made, there's crying over how better characters (for example any of a million Wolverine, Spider-Man, Captain America) should be in the set!!!
And lord help us if there's a single chase piece. Oh my God!!! If there is, it'll be the end of the world!!!
For a site meant to promote the game of heroclix, there is an awful lot of complaining about every aspect of every set!!!
Of the newer sets, only Brave and the Bold disappointed me. I'm not a fan of duos, but I bought every single piece or traded for them, and have played nearly every single piece!!!
The REAL ARES (DC)

AND, if they start doing everything the way you wanted them to, try would alienate many other players, and the damned game would go away AGAIN!!!
IS THIS WHAT EVERYONE WANTS???
Don't Say that! I don't want the game to go away. JK
NECA/ Wizkids needs to know our honest opinions, on what we like and don't like. It's not about negativity. True you can never please everyone, but NECA/ Wizkids needs to know our thoughts. If they listen to our input, then there will be more happy people and the game won't go anywhere.

9. Pretty darned excited, but a) it's not a DC set, and b) it doesn't include Toad, Martinex, Charlie-27, or ANY of the Shi'ar Imperial Guard. Any combination of items from b would have take me to over 9000!
As a big fan of the X-Men, I am pumped. I've always been a Marvel fan in general and an X-Fan in particular, since at least 1991. Top it off with new renditions of favorite characters like Cyclops (see avatar), Jamie Madrox, Beast, Magneto, etc. plus FINALLY a First Class Angel so that I can play the original five as they first appeared, well, color me all sorts of excited.
I pre-ordered a case and depending on my pulls will probably get another brick.
Does that answer your question?;)

I'm not sure if you were replying to my post (right before) or the whole thread. I think this thread is pretty darn positive. And as far as that goes, I'm a Clix zombie. If they keep making it, I'll keep buying it.

I said 4. The least I have been excited in a long time. I like the x-men but this character selection is not great.
What he said. Apart from Nextwave and the Mindless Ones this set is almost exclusive to the X universe. I would have liked maybe 10 figures more from non X related books.
There are a total of 7 figures that rate a must have for me and maybe five more that interest me.
The Super Boosters are an interesting idea and I may plunk down some cash for one or two depending on the characters in the list.
So I'm rating my excitement for GSXM a 4
Now bring on news about the Superman Set

A lot of people upset over this set, and I see no reason for it. This is a great x-men set. With new versions of the brotherhood and flippin' sentinels. They finally make a new version of Scott and heck even the 4 horsemen of Apocalypse make an appearance. I know people have every right to whine about a set, but geez... really?!!!
Bat-Phreak
02/18/2011, 15:21
I voted a 6.
I like getting some new X-Men, especially of the figs for which we do not have a good representation (I'm look at you Cyclops!). Why we need another Xavier, Storm, and Archangel, I don't know; the MuMo figs are pretty good.
The Brotherhood is long over-due to get new figs. I'm really excited about the new Magneto, he should be a beast!! Hopefully, Blob, Juggy, Pyro and Mystique don't disappoint.
What really drained my excitement is the rumour I heard of the (6) Chase pieces all being duos. I have heard the Cable / Deadpool duo is to have a bodacious power-set, and I would not be surprised if the other chase figs are bordering on broken, as well.
I prefer the Chase pieces to be a niche character, but not game-changing.
Hopefully the collation remains 1 Chase per brick, even though that means we will probably only get 2-3 SR's per brick.

Zero. Don't want any. Not likely to purchase any.
Bring on the GL and Cap minis.
I voted a 10, since I am always anxious to get a Carded version of a figure made before without a Card, and a new and maybe better Sculpt of a former figure, and also look forward to getting a figure never made before. I also like the Magento and Storm Sculpts, so long as they are not smaller or as small as their previous versions, but will not know that until the Set is released. I also gave it a 10, since I was told the dial numbers are not going to be higher than the range we have seen in the Carded figures so far (excep maybe some in HOT), therefore my existing figures will be able to compete with the figures in this Set.
I did not vote over 9,000, since some of the Sculpts do not have that great of poses or detail, or are as large, as what we seen in HOT, and since I do not like some of the costumes, and prefer there traditional ones. I would have preferred Domino to have her previous pose, and I preferred the Juggernaut costume design from Infinity Challenge over the one they used, which look like the Costume Cane Marko is wearing with the IC pose. I also would have wanted to see Domino have her same pose, and the Rogue to have the same Costume as the one from Infinity Challenge.

Over 9000? Really? Sigh. Anyways, I had to pick that though on accuracy. That said, there are plenty of figures in the set that I do not care about or know who they are. My interest lies solely in the core X-men and Brotherhood characters. So far though, every preview of such I have seen, I have been very interested in and looking forward to getting them. Add on that I do not currently own any previous versions of any of the set's characters. So that makes me plenty excited. Cannot wait. Literally playing proxy matches with some of the figs in order to try them out. Yay.

4. i feel eh about this set. i mean im an x fan but there are figs that deserved a remake (cough, sinister). i guess im just gonna be annoyd with all the overpowered nextwave teams im gonna end up fighting until the next set. I'd like a few pieces, mainly X-Force stuff, but I'm mostly interested in trading the stuff I get in my case away ASAP for DC stuff.
8 for me. There's a ton of great stuff coming out of this set but I can't get over the amount of filler. Big props for pushing out Nextwave though.

Well, not everyone that plays Heroclix is a huge X-Men fan and with the exception of Nextwave, it is all X-Men related, so I think that people who wanted to see other Marvel Universe characters have a legit complaint. Even some of the X-Men fans seem to be complaining about character selection.
I guess i can see it your way. People are disappointed with the overall theme of the set, But after a Thor, spider-man, MoMu and Avengers set, it's good to see the muties get some love, and it's overdue in my perspective. It's just like having a Superman theme or Fourth World theme set for DC that is long over due. Who wants the same theme and figs over and over. And as for "Next Wave" i embrace all teams and want a chance for all comic characters to be made. Heck, I'm still waiting on a "Cosmo" the dog, Mantis, Jack Flag and Major Victory (redo) and Triathlon character (w/ Avengers and Atlas keyword). I also wants a Kalabak remake, Dessad remake and Wonder woman in new costume.
I guess i am one of the few who sees any set coming out as a good thing as I know that each set that comes out as a good thing. Even if there may not be a lot of figs I like, it's good to see i will have the option to play them if i want to...

I say a 6. Coming off of DC75 I was underwhelmed by the selection of characters in GSX and seriously wondered if I would get even a brick on opening day. I just haven't been into X-Men in the last twenty years. The previews I've seen since then have excited me a little more. The figures look good, and heck, it is a new set. And I want my Nextwave!!!
Definitely 3... And only by the Nextwave people.
And that's ok cos now I have time to find the DC75 figures that i don't have.
I'm still up in the air about the set. I'm a real big X-Men (Wolverine) fan, so naturally I was pumped about the X-Men themed set. I still want to see very little of the sets previewed for that "Christmas morning feeling". Keeping the previews to around 10 from a set, but just enough and the right ones to feed that frenzy we all have for the game.
Looks like Gatecrasher and Bonebreaker previews are next week.
I hope you all get what you want in your pulls in 26 days.

I voted ten! There is only one set that has really bumed me out and that was BatB. I love that the sets are getting tighter. No Spiderman or Ironman in this set make me extremely happy! Only real complant is the Hellions all having one male and one female sculpt. Other than that I will reserve judgement until after I open two and a half bricks and 5 Super Boosters.

9.
So much potential. With some more great previews it can still make 10. 9,000 might be a little hard to hit.
The "disappointment" that is the superboosters kinda dropped by excitement a little. The fact there is a single figure in it is a strike. The initial preview of a 300 point figure is a second strike.
Good news is:
Tabitha Smith
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Lockheed
Madrox
Cyclops
Harry Leland
Hellfire Club Guard
and Magneto
More than make up for it!
Rogue, Wolverine, Mystique, Blob, Pyro, BiBtB Madrox, Iceman, Armor, 1st class Angel, Phoenix, the second Sentinel, etc are still eagerly awaited...
I voted 7. I don't plan on getting much of this set, but I'm just getting excited for a new release. I'm at new venue that is just starting to build a 'clix group. The venue hasn't carried clix before but is going to start with GSX, so I hope having product on the shelf will help garner more interest.
Even if I don't play much from GSX, I'm looking forward to playing against it.

5, for the number of Nextwave figures. All the other figs can go get melted. Filthy muties.
Except maybe Mindless ones.

when I first heard about this set i was like EEEK I have to have it. I love X-men, but 2 factors have brought it down for me. First and foremost NECA's stupid plan to limit stores to 50 cases I have been trying to pre order for a month now. i cant find any reasonably offers. Second I have not been to impressed with the set list so far.
This is simply the most I've been excited for a set. Ever. Since the beginning.

7, but Over 9,000 for Nextwave
I'm going to guess that the people who voted "1" thought that was the high end of the scale. :cheeky:
Excitement and how much you purchase are two different things.
My excitement level is 7. However, I probably won't buy more than 5 boosters (and that's counting super boosters as 2 boosters). For a Marvel set, that's a lot for me.
For those saying 1-5 for their level of excitement, how much are you planning on buying? I've seen lots of "I don't like this set, I'm only buying a case" comments. For not being excited, that seems like a lot.
I don't think NECA really cares how excited we are, as long as the set sells. While there is some correlation, I don't think it is ever as bad as the comments here make it seem. When the set is actually released, players go nuts, regardless of what they thought before.

I put a 5.
I am more of a DC fan.
Some of the dials are cool, and some I can live without.
Some of the figs are cool, but more than a few I can live without.
There is no "must have" figures for me from this set, except maybe ones with a really cool sculpt (though that Bloodstone dial comes close!).
I don't regret ordering a case, but I'm pretty sure I'll get anything I want that I don't pull from the secondary market rather than opening boosters...

I said 4. 3 cases. :)
A few reasons:
1) I will get more into the set when it's out. The last time I felt this "meh" was Mutations and Monsters, and it was a great set.
2) I'm a completest. I'll get most, if not all, of the set this way, and sell and trade the rest.
3) a "4" from me is probably an "8" from most people. I really like clix!

You're probably right. I rated myself a "9", and I only bought 2 cases. LOL!

Let me clear up what I was trying to say. I understand the need for NECA to receive input from the community playing their games. That I understand and am all for.
What I'm not for is people only complaining about everything in every set that comes out. Straight complaining doesn't help anything. It just makes everyone sound like they're whining that their favorite character wasn't done exactly the way they wanted.
Criticism with a rational explanation is a way to make an impression. Constantly criticizing every single choice of character or sub theme for a set smacks of sounding like your preference is the only one in the game. Even I, a nobody, knows that NECA won't respond to that kind of criticism.
Is the criticism legit? Mostly. Hey, I have no smurfin idea who Nextwave are!!! But, I love having lots of options when it comes to my figures, and I'm OPEN to new choices.
As I mentioned earlier, I despise duo figures, but I'm not opposed to their being made. I'm not even opposed to playing them. But I'm not going to whine about them.
I'd like a new Cable, but I'm not gonna cry because they chose to put him in as a duo with Deadpool. I can hope that he will be a prize as a single figure, but if not there's always next year.
And how about being happy about old characters that were terrible (Blob) who were remade and remade well? I see a few people giving kudos, but mostly it's complaints about remakes. And as I said earlier, it's almost always the same stuff 'Why isn't there a new Cap? Why isn't there a new Spidey?'
And since it's still a little bit away from pack opening time, and all of the pieces haven't been revealed, there's still a few pieces that haven't been 'spoiled' so we can still have hope that one of the people we want will be in there.
I do not know a pile of the characters in this set, since I haven't read much since 1995, but I really am pleased that they are remaking certain characters, and making new characters, and trying new things (yes even duos, alter egos, super boosters, and especially special powers!!!).
All I'm saying really, is constructive criticism would be a more informative option to use in trying to express concern over things you dislike in a set over just plain complaining. Not everyone is going to be happy with every aspect of every set. But, complaining about nearly every aspect of every set is irrational.
And I'm rambling.
I am marginally excited -
(without too much more exiting...I've been away for a while, and being back seems to be working out just fine for now)
- about several figs in this set. My main torment is 'the remake'. Not in general, but remakes made of figures I liked before...rrgh. I like the old ones, but the new ones are so cooooool...
With bittersweet anticipation, I look forward to the new Juggernaut, a really decent-looking Cyclops, Aaron Stack, Lockheed, and others...bittersweet because I likely MUST have them. The shiny and new, and all that. I'm not as hot on many of the Big Figs, but that's pretty much just a character preference. I still loves me my M&M Apocalypse.
I really like that figures lately are being made that really seem to do their characters justice (Holy carp, Deadpool and Nightcrawler!). I am only a bit sad that their point values are necessarily beefy...I guess that's an artifact from my default-setting '300pt games all the time' brain. Things can be easily turned up a bit, without too much lag (like with the '500pt/max 5 figs' setup, for example).
Overall, I just like how the Clix are being designed since NECAtime hit. Some sculpts...eeeenh...but that's gonna happen, I guess.
I have favourites. They are being made into clix. I am, at least that far, happy.

Much like their comics as of late, this marvel set does nothing for me. Magneto is cool as well as the colossal Sentinel. But those will be so tough to get it won't be worth it for me to buy a bunch.
I voted over 9000 because I'm a big X-Men fan and i hope that this set does not go the the same way that Crisis and Hammer of Thor did so to those who buy the sets by 3+ cases " LEAVE SOME FOR THE REST OF US " you know the ones who CANT afford to buy them by the case and CAN BARELY AFFORD the brick prices 'LOL'. But seriously cant wait for this set to get here i want the white phoenix and storm + the inclusion of harry lealand to round out the hellfire club and all the nextwave members + all the others including the giant stuff Like the sentinel and apokolips and most of all we are FINALLY getting Lockheed and is about damn time to at any rate i cant wait

I'm at a 7. The set has alot of needed remakes and unmade x-foes but doesn't really live-up to the name " Giant-sized X-men" to me.
I'm more excited for this set than I have been for any set so far; M&M was pretty close I really loved that set too.

I give it an 8.
I'm a big X-men fan and this is the set I've been most excited about. I wasn't into clix when Mutations and Monsters came out, so this is the set I've been anticipating more than any other.
Why not a 10?
Most important are the glaring omissions which have been discussed ad nauseum and will continue to be. At the very least let's have a Shadowcat (and no, an LE doesn't count.)
While not as duo-heavy as Brave and the Bold, I was hoping duos would be phased out since there wasn't much in Web or DC75th. Looks like duos are back.
A very minor point but can't we just get a regular Hulk?
While this may seem like a strange complaint from an X-men fan, it would've been nice to have a few more non-X subthemes for those that don't really care for the mutants that much.
That's my negative list and while it may seem I'm being negative, if I listed all the positives, I'd be here all day. Yep, I am really looking forward to this set.
