[Gargantua]

Another keyword based game, this one at 900 points. Flyingicarus has opted to play the Asgardians, so I've decided for fun to counter his old gods with the New Gods. Who will prove to be better? I have my suspicions, but only the game will tell.

"War makes strange bedfellows, they say on Earth. I can see they're right," Orion said. He and Mr. Miracle stood together, suspiciously eyeing Darkseid, Granny Goodness and the Parademon the accompanied them.

"I don't like it any more than you," Darkseid said. "But these Asgardians threaten New Genesis and Apokolips both. So distasteful as it is to us both, we must work together to destroy them."

"So you say," Mister Miracle said skeptically.

"No, so I say," Metron said, appearing in him Mobius Chair. "You may not believe him. You must believe me."

"Metron," Granny Goodness grumbled. "Must we, really?"

"You know that I have always remained neutral between the two worlds. Knowledge is my only passion, not your petty rivalries. If I have brought you all here, it is because of the things I have learned, and that is that the power of these Asgardians could well bring down the entire Fourth World if left unchecked."

"Fine," Orion said, "then let's kill them and have done with it."

"You never need much of an excuse to do battle, do you my friend?" Mr. Miracle smiled at Orion.

"I cannot deny my nature," Orion shrugged.

"Then let us begin," Darkseid stated.

"Die for Darkseid!" the Parademon shouted his battlecry.

"I am still unconvinced about this war, Loki," Balder says.

"That is because you were always more brave than smart," Loki replies.

"And why do you still dress as me, Loki?!" Sif asks.

"Deception has its uses. Besides dressed as such I feel....pretty."

"Brrr....they look a frightening bunch. Why do you threaten us?" Malekith asks.

Thor turns around, "They believe we threaten their world of New Genesis and thus threaten ours. But none shall conquer Asgard, so speaks Thor, the God of Thunder."

Sif and Loki both speak, "I love it when he gets like this!". Then they look at each other oddly,

"You have definitely been in dress up too long, Loki," Balder says.

Ooh, you're not playing 200 point Brokey-Loki. (I like that. I'll have to remember that one.) Already I feel like my chances have gone way up in this game. And Lady Loki will obviously be more fun to write.

Water functions as hindering terrain for movement purposes only. (Non-fliers, Non-Aquatic must stop their movement upon entering any water square. The same figures starting in a water square have their movement halved for that action.) It has no effect on LOF. So, no doesn't matter if you're on the edge of the island or not, I can still see you from the middle of the water, as long as nothing else is in my LOF.

Do you want to make any changes to your positioning, based on that?

"They say that any sufficiently advanced technology is the equivalent to magic," Mr. Miracle said, flying up to Karnilla. "I'll bet on my Mother Box against your magic any day." His Mother Box disrupted Karnilla's invisibility spell.

"How did you...?" she stammered.

"Know you were there? Oh, I've got my tricks," Miracle said. He didn't have a chance to elaborate because at that moment Darkseid and Orion both opened fire on the sorceress.

"Karnilla! No!" Balder raged. "I'll destroy you for that!"

"You'll do nothing of the sort," Metron said, immobilizing the bright god.

Ouch. That's a really rough start for me. Karnilla's not my a list figure here but I had hoped for some usage out of her.

As he moves the hammer heads right in for the Parademon Scout, and he falls.

"He was hardly our most prize piece of the chess game, Asgardian," Darkseid says.

"Aye. And now that I am warmed up let us see who shall be next?".

Granny Charges to G10 to attack him, AV10 on DV18. Metron looks on. Gets 9. That's 3 to Balder unless you prefer to use his Protected and just push him for 1 instead.

Balder heard footsteps. He turned his attention from Mr. Miracle to see the source and was surprised to see a large and elderly woman running his way.

"What strangeness is this?" Balder asked.

"Strangeness? Is that any way to talk to Granny?" the woman demanded. She lunged at him, yanking up a tree root to use as a club.

"Stay woman!" Balder said, raising his sword just in time to block her attack. "We are no strangers to warrior women in Asgard, yet still thou'rt stronger than I expected of one your age."

"Don't count Granny out because she's old," Granny Goodness said. "It just means she's more experienced."

"What about Balder?" Granny asked.

"You needn't concern yourself about Balder," Darkseid said. "He is easily dealt with." He hit Balder with his Omega Effect.

Well the 'Seid loses Outwit and Impervious, but in many ways, this is a better click. On Loki. AV10 on DV15. Gets 7. And it comes down to one-on-one, and really this is so much farther than I ever expected the New Gods to get against your Asgardians. Granted a lot of luck factoring in there. I hit way more Impervious rolls than was statistically likely. Add to that a few out and out misses on your part and that puts us where we are.

Oi. The Asgardians are better. Really. Just don't know why they're not winning. This game has been so back and forth.

Thor needs 7 to hit Darky. Gets 11. 2 to Darkseid and really, he's no worse off.

If Thor's at 4 clicks, his natural damage is 3, so he'd only do 1 to Darkseid, though with luck that won't matter. Now's the time to push. Darkseid on Thor, with Psychic Blast, AV11 on DV16. Gets 5. Pretty pathetic but enough. Whether Thor did 1 or 2 damage, it doesn't matter. On both of those clicks Darkseid has a 5 Damage Psychic Blast. And that, good sir, will KO Thor and end this at last.

Wow, I totally expected to get my head handed to me by your Asgardians. The dice just decreed otherwise. And I do fully believe it was all the dice. You're right. The Asgardians are just all around better figures. Though I'll confess I won't knock a 12 range 5 damage Psychic Blaster with 11 AV.

Good game. And you're right, this Darkseid, even not as good as he could be, is nothing to complain about. Good as HoT's Thor for the points? Nuh-uh but still good stuff.
